NEW YORK — An New York Police Department officer shot a man to death on a Brooklyn street Wednesday afternoon, after they saw him with a metal object that looked like a shower head in his hand, police sources said.

Officers responded to a call about 4:30 p.m. that there was an emotionally disturbed black man believed to be in his mid-30s waving a gun at a local street corner, law enforcement sources said.

Witnesses told cops that he had “something in his jacket,” sources said.

The officer fired approximately five shots, striking the victim multiple times about 4:45 p.m. at the corner in Crown Heights, sources said.

“I heard all these shots, I thought it was firecrackers at first. I turned around and you just see the cops standing over the guy,” witness Chris J. said. “It was at least five shots. First it was one, then it was nonstop after that.”

The witness said a plainclothes officer handcuffed the victim lying motionless on the sidewalk.

“Blood was everywhere,” Chris said. “They put him on his back and they tried to compress his chest but he was gone.”

Chris said he saw no weapon at the scene.

There was at least two plainclothes cops tending to the victim.

Andre Wilson, 38, said he’s known the victim for 20 years, describing him as a quirky neighborhood character.

“All he did was just walk around the neighborhood,” he said. “He speaks to himself, usually he has an orange bible or a rosary in his hand. He never had a problem with anyone.”

Wilson said he was shocked that it would come to this.

“The officers from the neighborhood, they know him. He has no issue with violence. Everybody just knows he’s just mentally challenged. This shouldn’t have happened at all.”

One bullet shattered a window at Chucky Fresh Market.

“There were gunshots, and I just ducked,” said a clerk who declined to identify himself. “A minute later, cops were everywhere.”

After the shooting, an angry crowd formed at the edge of the police tape shouting at police and pointing out the officer they believed to be responsible.

“The whole community came outside,” he added. “People were going crazy. It was a nightmare out there.”

The victim is known in the neighborhood for being emotionally disturbed. “He’s a little touched in the head,” Chris said. “But he’s not crazy enough to go around hitting people.”

The shooting comes as the nation paused to reflect on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

I am sure that there all kinds of unseen benefits to allowing the mentally disturbed to wander the streets freely, but I can’t seem to come up with any off the top of my head.

This is the consequence of the deliberate decision to empty the mental hospitals in order to be more humane to the mentally ill- free range “touched in the head” black men kicking about the neighborhood, waiting for the angel of blue death to arrive and end his suffering.

What a sad, sick and inhumane country this has become.

slippery-slope? more “mental institutions” than “private prisons” would be required for all the BigPharma-owned “head-shrinks” to house all the “psychotropics-wigged” “disturbed”. quick review of what the DSM is now compared 10 years ago – I rest my case. ck out Jon Rappoport’s site. besides, IMC will have nothing of funding being diverted from it! “What a sad, sick and [corp] GREED country this has become”.

HSF, we probably need more long-term care facilities for the mentally ill, but we also police to stop shooting people with only barest of lame excuses about how the dead guy was about to attack multiple cops with a spork from Popeyes.

a few immediate “interrogatories” come to mind.
1) said “officer”/semi-functional/literate gov-agent knuckle-dragger doing BigPharma psycotropics/drugs/alcohol?
2) said “corp employee” a former “profile-identified” “gung-ho” combat vet and specifically hired for said?
3) said “intellectually-deficient” a childhood bully or bullied?
4) did the hiring and training components of said po-lice org fail to identify said “social misfit” or perhaps intentionally target such types for “employment” who unquestionably follow instructions/orders, intimidate the public and aggressively write tickets.

Let’s look at the differences in the way police are treated after a questionable shooting:
A citizen that uses deadly force, even justifiably, will be immediately handcuffed and arrested, until the situation is “sorted out”. He will most likely be “detained” in a holding cell at the police station until the prosecutor makes a decision whether to prosecute. Questioning by police will most certainly be forceful and immediate, with police interrogators purposely trying to “trip up” the citizen by attempting to elicit contradictory statements–standard police interrogation tactics.
A police officer in an identical situation will NOT be handcuffed or arrested. The police officer will be afforded a union attorney and will have 72 hours in which to “get his story straight”. In addition, a police-friendly prosecutor will most likely hesitate to prefer charges, as “they are on the same team”. Most likely an extended taxpayer-paid “vacation” (administrative leave) will result.
Not so for the ordinary citizen.
Double standard?
You bet…

Leave aside for a moment the theory that BLM was started just to promote the politics of the Left (and maybe the goals of Jewry – if there’s any difference). To the extent that BLM just wanted to end police brutality, they sure fucked up when they picked that name. “Black Lives Matter, Too” would have been better. “Stop Crazy Copfuks” might have been best. It was a lost chance for people of all races to work together to battle the unwarranted obeisance currently granted to those who put on a blue costume.

I’d guess that if you asked the average black American what percentage of those killed by cops is black, they would answer somewhere around 80%. Starting with the WaPo survey of the roughly 1,000 killed by police in 2015 (and their studies for the following years), the true answer is about 29%. Whites are roughly half, with other races comprising the rest.

In 2018 year-to-date, the police have killed close to 300 so far (an increased run rate from prior years) and only about 16% were identified as black. Make no mistake, the police will kill your ass no matter what color you are. Remember that drunk unarmed white guy in Arizona who was murdered by cops because they didn’t like the way he was crawling on his knees – and I guess the way he was begging for mercy wasn’t done properly, either. It was all on video and the cop was acquitted. Maybe you’re supposed to offer to suck the cop’s dick in order to not get shot.

We need to change the laws to stop giving cops the extreme benefit of the doubt that they’re given today. “I thought I saw a gun” or “he twitched, so I had to shoot him 14 times” shouldn’t be a sufficient defense against depraved indifference to the lives of people who don’t wear a blue costume.

At least three people called in to police to report this dude had a gun.

Looks like a gun to me.

How are police to know this guy was mentally unstable? Not a big fan of copfuks but, I’d say they did a justifiable shoot.

I used to live very near where this happened. I don’t think the “specially trained crisis intervetion” officers were very well trained at all. Have a look at the dashcam video. It won’t let me embed it from the article so you will have to click on the link below.

“Police shooting of Overland Park teen ruled justified, but video raises questions”

“Overland Park police had been called to the house in the 9300 block of West 149th Terrace because the Blue Valley Northwest High School student was reported to be suicidal.

The person who called 911 early that evening had witnessed the teen’s distress in a FaceTime phone call and called the police for help, according to radio traffic.

“He took pills, and (was) drinking heavily,” the dispatcher said. “He (the 911 caller) saw this on FaceTime. He (Albers) also told (the 911 caller) that he was going to stab himself and he’s done with life.”

Albers had been alone in his basement and his parents were not home.

Police were aware that Albers was in mental health distress and two of the officers who responded to the scene Jan. 20 were specially trained CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) officers, Donchez said.

(The dashcam video has two perspectives. )

The Overland Park police officer who fired into a moving van and killed suicidal teenager John Albers reasonably feared his life was in danger, Johnson County Prosecutor Steve Howe said in a press conference Tuesday.

But the prosecutor’s decision did not quiet public reaction as debate persisted questioning if the officer was in enough danger to warrant firing into the moving van.

In chilling dashcam video released with the announcement, the officer was standing in the driveway of Albers’ family home Jan. 20 in the early evening when the garage door opened to let out a Honda minivan backing down the driveway.

“Stop!” the officer is heard shouting. He calls 17-year-old John by name. The van keeps backing out and the officer jumps aside and fires two shots from the side.”

Clearly this was a justified shooting, as this was an assault shower head. New York needs to crack down on the availability of assault shower heads and their copycat versions that have been designed to avoid the law…
