Is neoconservativism just ethnocentric millenarianism? The neocons tend toward the apocalyptic in their language and they always wear the mask of the righteous when discussing the issues they view as central to the narrative of their faith. You never hear a neocon say that “well, good people can disagree.” Instead, they describe those with whom they disagree as the epitome of evil, usually as agents of the current stand-in for you know who. Their lust for war suggests a strong desire to immanentize the eschaton.
We tend to think of suicide cults as groups of lonely losers, preyed on by a charismatic sociopath, who convinces them of the coming end times. They either come to the movement convinced that only a cataclysm can set things right or they become convinced by the teachings of the cult that the great reckoning is at hand. It’s fairly typical, according to people who study the phenomenon, for the people in these movements to see themselves as a put upon minority, operating as a sanctuary for the righteous.

While it is true that millenarianism tends to operate on the fringes of society, it is not a requirement. The prophets of the Jewish Bible are basically outsiders interpreting events in the context of an apocalyptic timetable, but Judaism itself is defined by such a timetable. Judaism is the belief in a Messiah, who will deliver Jews from their enemies and rule over a Jewish kingdom.¹ Christianity is founded on the idea of a second coming, when Christ will return to reign as king with the just, both living and dead.²
The point here is that a belief in the end times or a foreboding sense of a coming cataclysm is not necessarily fringe or crazy. In fact, it is common in human societies, suggesting it is a common tendency in people. Therefore it is not outside the realm of possibility that neoconservativsim is, at its root, a form of millenarianism. It certainly has a strong Levantine edge to it and the adherents clearly view themselves as an oppressed minority in the Biblical sense, despite their elevated status in the culture and politics.
In fact, it is a curious feature of neoconservativism today. When anyone notices that it was explicitly Jewish at its founding and is almost exclusively Jewish today, the neocon cries out, demanding the person noticing be punished. It’s as if noticing what is a defining feature, something the founders of the cult advertised, causes the adherents physical pain. What is often interpreted as subversive obfuscation, could very well be typical cult behavior. People in cults seek to disappear, which is why they joined the cult.
Just watch the body language in this interview of Noah Rothman done by Tucker Carlson the other night. What looks like a sociopath’s gambit, the lying by omission and half truths, can also be interpreted as a fear response. Rothman is promoting World War III with Russia, calling anyone not down with nuclear winter an agent of Putin, who is the current stand in for you know who. When Carlson focuses on what Rothman has written, putting the focus on him as an individual, Rothman physically recoils, like he is being assaulted.
Whether or not neoconservatism is a cult is debatable, but what is not debatable is the lust for the final great confrontation. For obvious reasons, neocons oscillate with rapturous enthusiasm whenever war in the Levant is mentioned, but they are obsessed with the great final conflict between good an evil. Their ancestral hatred for Russia is one element, but most neocons were weened on the belief that a nuclear war with Russian was inevitable. It is entirely possible that the belief has come to define them as individuals.
They also seem to think Trump is a sign of the coming end times, when the great battle between the righteous and the wicked will reach its denouement. So much so that guys like Noah Rothman argue it is time usher in that final battle. This from a guy who would soil himself in a physical confrontation. As Tucker Carlson has recently started to mention, hatred of Donald Trump is now bringing the neocons in league with the Progressives, by turning the Left into vocal advocates for violence against opponents at home and abroad.
It is tempting to write-off the neocons as lounge chair imperialists with divided loyalties, but the central theme to their warmongering is always Russia. Their general lack of interest in confronting China, which a real threat to the US, or Mexico, which is a collapsing narco-state on our border, suggests violence is not the core issue. We launch drone attacks all over the Middle East, we could certainly drone Mexican drug cartels. If the neocon just wanted blood, that would be a much more promising target, but they ignore it.
Their singular focus is Russia. Even their opposition to Trump is based on his unwillingness to talk about Putin as you know who. If you list all of the neocon wars and wish-for wars, Russia is the common theme. The defining characteristic of the neocon is a hatred for Russia, viewing it as the Mordor in the great battle between the righteous and the wicked. Their reason to exist, the point of their lives, is to rally the faithful in the final confrontation. Whatever it was, neoconservatism now functions like a death cult.
Russia has a very large wealth of Natural Resources.

I disagree. It goes back to the shtetl. It’s hatred, not covetousness. They’d want to destroy Russia even if it were as barren as the Sahara.
I had never seen Noah Rothman before, nor really heard of him, but I do say, he has one of the most punchable faces I’ve seen in a long time. He is the picture of what a limp wristed little prick looks like in the dictionary.

Didn’t Stucky write a big post about Russian history some time back? Whoever, it was really good. I seem to remember the central theme was based around William Binney’s work and the spy apparatus originally constructed to be used on America’s enemies was turned against Americans upon the collapse of ‘evil Russia’. Without a dark evil to scare the folks with, they focused on the next threat, the folks at home. Seems without an enemy, you become it – as so many returning soldiers of war throughout history can attest.

When you say the neocon wishes to “immanentize the Eschaton” and that he is joining up with Progressives I am reminded of William F. Buckley many years ago saying it was the belief of liberals that they were so special and brilliant that left in charge with enough power they could immanentize the Easchaton. For those who may be dictionary averse, the Eschaton is more or less heaven on earth.
The face of neoconservatism, Bill Kristol is the son of the founders of neoconservatism, Irving Kristol and Gertrude Himmelfarb. Bill has said in the past that neoconservatism can be at home in either party, if the party will support their vision. Bush was fine with letting the Republicans do so under him and we know Hillary was fine with having them in the Democrat fold.
They are not Democrat or Republican but will hitch their wagon to whomever is in power if they can. I would prefer they not be in the Republican or any true conservative group because while militarily hard conservative, socially they are Democrat left of center liberal.

Every time I heard him nasally whining and bitching about anything, I took comfort in knowing I could use my right hand to grab his left arm at the bicep and, single-handedly, shake him violently until the weight of his head snapped his neck. Let us cut to the chase, shall we? The Neo-Con “movement” and the anti-Russian hysteria has roots that are 100 percent Jewish. Specifically, the Jews who originated in the Khazar tribe and who later formed the great majority of the “Jews” in Russia and Poland. The hatred of these people for Russia is almost genetic. They claim to have been abused by the czars and when the largely Jewish Bolshevik movement seized power they took their revenge on Christian Russia, a Russia Putin is most heroically trying to rebuild. Leon Trotsky was the archetype of this kind of cosmopolitan Jew, a man who hated the land of his birth with every fiber of his being. He was enraged when Stalin, a sly, cunning, ruthless Georgian (he studied to be an Orthodox priest), bested him in a deadly game of musical chairs. Trotsky was forced into exile and years later, when Stalin tired of his relentless attempts to undermine his regime, was sent to Commie heaven with an ice pick through his head. The exile of Trotsky was the very first sign that the Jews were slowly losing their grip on power in the Soviet Union. Stalin was not an anti-Semite per se, but he was certainly wise to the Jews. By the end of his life he was convinced the Zionist Jews were involved in a plot to take over the world, rather comical all things considered.
The Jews never forget a thing and they seethe with rage over being dethroned in Russia, among other things.
Stalin did the most unforgiveable thing imaginable to the Jews. He held them to the same standard everyone else was held to.

The Neocons as a Hostile Conservative (!) Elite by Kevin MacDonald

I haven’t read Jacob Heilbrunn’s book on the neocons yet, but I’m not sure I need to after seeing Philip Weiss’s review. Weiss’s review makes it clear that Heilbrunn’s book corroborates several of the themes in my writing on the neocons and on Jewish intellectual and political movements generally.
First, neoconservatism is a Jewish movement. That should have been clear to everyone by now, but references to the Jewish basis of the movement have been noticeably missing from much of the mainstream media, to the point that Bill Kristol was introduced as a columnist at the New York Times as simply a “conservative.” This is critical because the neocons have now become the conservative establishment. When Kristol (or Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity) hold forth at Fox News, most people have no idea that they are tuning into the public face of a fundamentally Jewish movement that elbowed out more traditional conservatives.
Secondly, Jewish neocons not only have a strong Jewish identity, they also have strong Jewish interests. This is obvious from their involvement in pro-Israel activism, their personal relationships with Israeli leaders, and close ties with other Jews and with the wider Jewish community. In fact, I have argued that the neocons are more strongly identified as Jews than the mainstream liberal/left Jews — that the neocons form the vanguard of the Jewish community. After all, neocons were the first segment of the Jewish community to strongly condemn the USSR, both for its domestic anti-Semitism and for its alliances with Arab governments. Prominent neocons like Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz began their political careers by making alliances with Cold War hawks like Henry Jackson This was at a time when the Jewish left was prominently involved in defending the USSR, apparently blind to the fact that the status of Jews as an elite in the USSR had changed greatly following World War II.
And the neocons are notorious for their strong ties to the most extreme racialist and nationalist segments of Israeli society — elements that the mainstream liberal/left Jewish community probably wishes would disappear or at least be less visible. (Hence the uproar over Christiane Amanpour’s God’s Jewish Warriors.) Indeed, the Jewish liberal/left has a huge blind spot, continuing to pursue its leftist multicultural agenda in the U.S. while ignoring the fact that the organized Jewish community is deeply complicit in dispossessing the Palestinians and erecting a racialist, apartheid state in Israel. As Weiss has noted elsewhere, “Steve Rabinowitz, Clinton friend, told me this year that if anyone did a study of how much [Democrat] money comes from Jews, it would fuel conspiracy theories.” The Jewish liberal/left lavishly supports Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, but makes no attempt to wrest control of the pro-Israel lobby from the hands of what James Petras terms the “reactionary minority of American Jews” who head the major American Jewish organizations.
But more interestingly, Heilbrunn points to the “lifelong antipathy toward the patrician class among the neocons … [that] prompted them to create their own parallel establishment.” In this regard, the neocons are entirely within the American Jewish mainstream. As I noted in a previous blog (also commenting on Philip Weiss), “Jews have become an elite, but an elite that does not identify with its subjects — a hostile, estranged but very wealthy elite that still sees themselves as outsiders.” And along with the American Jewish mainstream, the neocons have been vital players in the establishment of a variety of policies opposed to the interests and attitudes of the American majority, most egregiously unrestricted immigration which has successfully altered the ethnic composition of the country. Indeed, neoconservative Ben Wattenberg famously wrote that “The non-Europeanization of America is heartening news of an almost transcendental quality.”
This hostility toward the traditional peoples and culture of America among people calling themselves conservatives is striking — the antithesis of normal and natural conservative tendencies. As Sam Francis noted, what the neocons dislike about traditional conservatives is simply that they “are conservative at all”:
There are countless stories of how neoconservatives have succeeded in entering conservative institutions, forcing out or demoting traditional conservatives, and changing the positions and philosophy of such institutions in neoconservative directions…. Writers like M. E. Bradford, Joseph Sobran, Pat Buchanan, and Russell Kirk, and institutions like Chronicles, the Rockford Institute, the Philadelphia Society, and the Intercollegiate Studies Institute have been among the most respected and distinguished names in American conservatism. The dedication of their neoconservative enemies to driving them out of the movement they have taken over and demonizing them as marginal and dangerous figures has no legitimate basis in reality. It is clear evidence of the ulterior aspirations of those behind neoconservatism to dominate and subvert American conservatism from its original purposes and agenda and turn it to other purposes…. What neoconservatives really dislike about their “allies” among traditional conservatives is simply the fact that the conservatives are conservatives at all—that they support “this notion of a Christian civilization,” as Midge Decter put it, that they oppose mass immigration, … that they entertain doubts or strong disagreement over American foreign policy in the Middle East, that they oppose reckless involvement in foreign wars and foreign entanglements, and that, in company with the Founding Fathers of the United States, they reject the concept of a pure democracy and the belief that the United States is or should evolve toward it.

That the New York Times can call Kristol a conservative without shame or irony is a striking commentary on the death of American conservatism.

European Americans may have a difficult time processing all of this. Their individualism and their own fragile and beleaguered sense of ethnicity make them less likely to attribute ethnic motives to others. And there is an imposing edifice of taboos surrounding even the mention of Jewish influence, much less anything that hints that Israel is the first loyalty of Jewish neocons — an edifice aggressively maintained by the organized Jewish community. But the rather unpleasant facts are staring European Americans in the face, even if the New York Times insists on calling them conservatives.
As I have said over and over these Jews are nothing but trailors. In the Jewish exodus back to Israel the Edomites take our gold with them.

The Edomites also occupied the land during the exiles and even ruled over Israel at various times. For example Haman was an Edomite in the days of Queen Esther and The Herod’s were Edomites that ruled over the Jews in Judea around the time that Jesus sojourned on the earth. There is good reason to believe that even the religious leaders of Israel were mostly Jewish Edomites and that is why Jesus called them a den of vipers.
The Edomites adopted Israelite culture and outwardly they appear to be Israelites in every respect. The Edomites migrated and some were exiled to the wealthy nations. In fact Jacob made a prophecy over Esau when he said that Esau’s future dwellings would be in the fatness of the earth (the rich nations – Gen 27:39). Many Edomites became members of the Roman Empire or they went East.
It is not unlikely then that the Edomites are returning today with true Israelites to Israel as Jews and this will be even more likely in the future as antisemitism rises. These Edomites are the people that will embrace the Antichrist and persecute the true Jews in Israel during the time of Jacob’s trouble.”
