I agree completely with your post, Persnickety. A bunch of people getting upset over beer. And no proof it’s for her. Could have been for her husband. People need to stop getting upset over what other people are doing and pay attention to their own lives.

When I was pregnant, I’d often stop by the grocery store on my way home to pick up a bottle of wine for my husband. (Personally, I’m not much of a drinker. I might have five glasses of wine in a whole year. And I never drank while pregnant.)
When buying this wine (or beer) while pregnant, I always wondered if people thought, “Look at that awful woman poisoning her unborn child.” When the reality was more like, “Look at that thoughtful wife who’s bringing home a nice surprise for her husband.”
The woman in the pix has a blond baby, so she’s obviously not a coal-burner. She’s also in good shape, in spite of the fact that she’s heavily pregnant and already has one small child. The child is dressed nicely and looks healthy/cared for. All this to say, there’s a lot we can admire about this woman without assuming that she’s going to guzzle this beer herself.
My guess? It’s for her husband or for a party. And if I were a betting gal, I’d bet that she’s actually a pretty great Mom (and wife, too).
Maybe she really IS a Mother of the Year.
