AND….IT’S GONE

This family have spent the past few months carefully raising a tiny caterpillar and watching it transform into a beautiful butterfly.

The mother has promised her children that the unassuming insect will undergo an amazing metamorphosis in its chrysalis – and that they will all witness the amazing moment it finally flutters its wings and takes to the sky for the very first time.

But her excitable boxer dog has other ideas.

The clip shows the woman, who is from New Jersey, gently ease the butterfly out of a soft mesh container as three young children and another adult look on.

She successfully releases the creature, with her family looking on as it begins to flap its wings and take to the air.

But just seconds later the boxer dog leaps up and grabs the butterfly in its mouth, to screams and a shocked ‘Oh no!’ from a young girl looking on.

The woman comes to check and see if the butterfly can be rescued, but soon realizes that it is too late.

And at least one of the children there saw the funny side of the incident, as they could be heard laughing just before the clip finishes.

Chad Evin Lore shared the video of the incident on his Instagram account, saying that his sister and his children had spent months raising the insects.

He wrote: ‘My sister and her kids releasing the butterflies….months in the making.
