This never would have happened 10 years ago. The establishment feels weak and needs a deification to show all the little people losing hope that political saints really do exist, just like a Lincoln, who was a corrupt corporate railroad lawyer who killed half a million (minor details).

I thought the first few seasons of Perpetual Funeral were best; it really went downhill after the seventh.

I don’t think JFK got this much TV coverage for his funeral and, unlike Ronald Reagan’s passing, no crowds spontaneously gathered to mourn…anywhere. Thus this entire spectacle was as much a staged event as the half time show at the Super Bowl only with far lower ratings. If just one network had broken ranks and not shown McCain’s multiple funeral services they would have owned the ratings for the day. But not one did. Orders from on high.
