To get the whole picture, there is a 10 minute video that captures Durbin pushing and acting like a maniac, trying to get Kavanagh to delay the vote that his party could not do. He made Kavanagh squirm and was relentless in his badgering. Kavanagh was desperate, for his reasoned responses were ignored by Durbin’s Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it!
The tension increased exponentially, with neither side backing down ( credit to Kavanagh).
Enter Graham, who rode the tension like a California surfer and channeled the aggression into a Durbin body slam without mercy. I’m surprised there was not a quake registered in the DC area during his response.
I find myself living moment by moment, enjoying the simple satisfactions of small victories, but never sure of what the final outcome will be. But still, the moments of seeing Durbin scraped off of the floor like a pancake after his well earned smack down is a memory I will always treasure.
I liked how the Democrats kept asking Kavanaugh whether he thought an investigation was warranted after no less than six had already been done. He resisted them knowing it was all a delaying tactic based on spurious accusations and uncorroborated data.
Graham is one of the biggest fruit flies in DC, but the response was classic as was Kavanaugh’s reference to the Clintons and a future reaping of the whirlwind.
