A Wip Wondering

I wonder what the best cover band you ever saw was.

About 2 weeks ago my wife and I went to see ZoSo. I was too young to really
appreciate Led Zeppelin in their heydays. ZoSo was incredible. The singer
sounded exactly like Plant. He was fairly close in appearance and mannerisms also.

We saw them at The State Theatre in Falls Church Va. It holds maybe 1,000(?) people and was standing room only. Forget even getting a beer unless you arrived early. Imagine a theatre full of 50 year old bouncing tits and asses. A woman even mooned the crowd.

If you never had a chance to see Led Zepplin, Zoso will leave you as a Dazed and Confused Immigrant Rambling up the Stairway Going to California
looking for a Whole Lotta Love..

I saw Led in the 60’s. Jethro Tull was on the same bill.

Good to see you are still wondering.

Keyser,am very jealous,Tull me favorite band, seen over a 100 times but first show in 1974(babysitters took me 12 year old ass there)after,35 plus shows 70’s alone.I had tix for Zep in Philly and me dad was going to also get me tix for Boston, then,Bonham died.

As for best cover band that also did a fe originals would have to go with E.C. Gypsy,(East Coast Gypsy)which mistaken so many times for EZ Gypsy just later on went with that name. They covered a lot of 70’s bands and had a few originals like Freight 88(every good band has a train song!),they were awesome live!

Full disclosure,I was the singer in EZ Gypsy!

Tull is my all time favorite band. Started listening to them in ’70. Sadly the 2008 concert in Red Rocks was a bummer. Ian no longer had his voice or the ability to stand on one leg (He did try).

I didn’t even know about that stuff in NY until many years later, or ever hear any of those crazy bands (they don’t come by here). Rock’n Roll, Country and Bluegrass keep us Crackers happy and healthy.

in about ’71 or ’72,zeppelin was playing the old tampa stadium in a summer concert-one of our massive summer thunder storms came thru & zepplin left the stage because of the lightning so the concert was canceled —
the love & peace zep fans rioted & no more concerts at tampa stadium for several years–

Saw Led Zepagain at The Grove in Anaheim a few years ago. Very passably good. Everyone did a credible job. I was especially impressed with the drummer’s impression of Gonzo.

The only tribute band I’ve ever seen was a Beatles tribute band (can’t remember their name.) Their star was the Paul McCartney character so wasn’t as impressed because I’m a huge John Lennon fan.

This performance wasn’t bad. I would have paid to see it. The band has a lot of the mannerisms. The guy singing Robert Plant’s part did better on the lower parts than the high parts I thought. He mimics him well, but this guy definitely doesn’t have the charisma, the sex appeal or the sexy movements of the real Robert Plant.

Here’s the real Robert Plant during the Celebration Day performance doing “Black Dog.” He can still hit those notes! No other high-singing performers, including Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Geddy Lee (of Rush), along with others can hit their high notes any more. But Not Robert Plant!

Saw ZoSo 2x when i lived in Gainesville. The first time was unreal- it was just like the albums. The 2nd time not so much, but didn’t take away from the amazing 1st show. Would rec them to anyone who has a chance to see them. The look, the mannerisms and sound are as close as we’ll ever get now.

The most mesmerizing Led Zeppelin song ever, “Since I’ve Been Loving You.” Very bluesy. Even the cop was mesmerized.
