U.S.’s Defeat in Syria is a Crisis of Empire

Guest Post by Tom Luongo

The U.S. lost in Syria. Donald Trump finally had the courage to admit that to the world when he ordered the pull out of all U.S. troops there.

Syria was to be the sparkling jewel in the Empire of Chaos’ Crown. A masterstroke of realpolitik which would advance every major U.S., Israeli and Saudi objective while thoroughly destabilizing the Levant and setting the stage for wiping out Iran and eventually Russia.

If the Assad government fell Syria would become something worse than Libya. It would become a source of abject chaos for decades to come. And the formation of greater Kurdistan would put advanced U.S. and Israeli military assets on Iran’s doorstep.

Carving up Syria, Iraq and possibly even Turkey, once Erdogan was removed from power, would put the U.S. and Israel in control of the oil assets to fund a jihadist-led insurgency across all of central Asia.

Moreover, the chaos would ensure a steady stream of refugees into Europe to destabilize it. That chaos would lead to further political integration of Europe under EU control.

You can see the remnants of this plan all around you today. In fact, a great deal of it is still on auto-pilot. Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron’s tag-team calls for ceding national sovereignty to the EU are a perfect example of this.

They can all feel the project slipping away from them. Despite their failing political power they are pushing their legislatures to ignore the people, calling them traitors.

Orwell would be proud of Macron for saying, ““patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism [because] nationalism is treason.”

The generals Trump just fired over his decision are another example. They still believe they can win a balkanization of Syria and Iraq. They just need more assets and more time.

Israel’s childish and disgusting antics sending missiles at the Damascus airport using civilians as human shields is the most damning.

If you look around the game board right now all of the people who were the architects of the Syrian war are either out of power or losing it rapidly — Hillary Clinton, Obama, Merkel, Macron, Netanyahu, David Cameron.

Russian Rescue

This is why Russia’s entrance into Syria was so important. It was a moment the entire geopolitical narrative turned. Someone stood up to the U.S. successfully.

Institutional confidence is based on the perception of invulnerability. And Putin moving air assets into Syria to assist the Syrian Arab Army was a declaration that Russia had reached its limit, just like with Crimea, with U.S. meddling in its long-term goals.

Remember, in 2015 the narrative was ISIS just sprang up out of the desert. And they would need a full invasion to defeat.

Then the Russians send in some 30 planes and change everything about the conflict within six weeks.

All of a sudden ISIS was beatable. All the U.S. could do was attack Putin for going after Al-Qaeda, not ISIS.

But, why were we protecting Al-Qaeda? Didn’t they blow up the Twin Towers?

Trump will never admit this in public but in some ways he does owe his election to Putin. By forcing open the truth, Putin set the stage to blow up the Syria narrative in late 2015/early 2016.

Trump used that to catapult himself to the Presidency. And that is truly what has everyone in The Swamp angry; the reality that the rubes aren’t buying their lies anymore.

And the wars need to end.

As the losses for Al-Qaeda and ISIS mounted thanks to a Russian air campaign they will write military logistics textbooks about, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia all got cold feet.

The Russian intervention prompted the Saudi King to change the line of succession as it became obvious they would never get their spoils from Syria — a gas pipeline into Turkey.

Turkey quit the moment Erdogan realized he was being set up to take the blame for the entire mess. After all, he and his son were selling the oil ISIS was smuggling in plain sight across the Syrian desert to Turkey.

And somehow an all-powerful U.S. military and surveillance system which can read license plates from space couldn’t find convoys of Toyota pickup trucks ferrying tons of oil to Turkey.

Imperial Retreat

Once someone stands up to the Empire successfully once it creates the opportunity for someone to do it again. Putin’s interventions in Syria, both in 2013 diplomatically and in 2015 militarily, told the world Russia was no longer afraid of the U.S.’s ability to project power around the world.

And that’s what truly changed the narrative. And that’s why we’re where we are today with Trump rightly acknowledging the Empire is bankrupting not only the U.S. but, truly, the rest of the world.

His challenge will be surviving the backlash from the entrenched powers in D.C. and Europe. They will push for his head, literally and figuratively.

By declaring victory over ISIS and leaving Syria Trump puts a period on the end of a shameful period of U.S. history. And the loss to the empire will not be easily overcome.

Syria represented the worst kind of imperial over reach. And in some ways it was a quagmire the U.S. and its allies could never win because the assets needed to take it were never available.

And those assets were political. The appetite for endless war had been spent with Obama’s election, no less Trump’s. So, absent a casus belli which could make Americans feel good about intervening in Syria, we were never going to give either President the mandate for a full-blown NATO intervention.

The only question surrounding it in hindsight was whether those that stood to lose the most — Russia, Iran, Lebanon — would stand together and convince China to support them in saving Syria, and, by extension, themselves.

Once it became clear that they would, with Russia’s intervention and China’s tacit approval and financial support, the end was then written in the sand, as long as they would keep their eyes on the big prize.

Winning by surviving. Syria was a war of attrition in which the pro-Syria coalition, step-by-step, made U.S. occupation more untenable. Eventually, that plus deft diplomatic maneuvers to advance a political solution led to this point.

This loss will beget others. Unbridled U.S. aggression has successfully been countered with mostly passive resistance. Afghanistan and Ukraine are on deck.

A very incisive analysis, sir.

With one exception – the Evil Fuckers have been going after The Man From Queens since before he even took office. With that in mind, Mueller investigation and all, it will not be enough to extricate him from the Oval Office. Yet, as we all know, the Cabal has other methods of removing duly elected leaders from office, n’est-ce pas?

The closure of overseas U.S. military installations will be the hard part but the most telling. Most everyone likes the gravy train of Unkle Sams’ beneficence.

Those too are lost causes.

Venezuela is next, a communist nation with oil in our hemisphere, a place where a false flag operation will easily sway public opinion, a place where logistics are in our favor.

Trump is up to something, that is for sure, he is not “bringing them home” he is just moving them closer to home.

The re-commissioning of the 2nd fleet is for the defense of the western hemisphere. Something is changing and you are right our troops will be moving closer to home in south america. There is much trouble there that is creating massive immigration across our southern border. There is also oil there.

Venezuela will probably be invaded by our troops to bring stability there. We do need to clean up our back yard. The world is becoming multi-polar and the western hemisphere will be our portion of it.

To counter the Chinese silk road project’s to expand into the western hemisphere and thus polarizing it into their political agenda we need to facilitate our own infrastructure development in South America and secure it from Chinese influence. We need a trade agreement with South America that helps bring prosperity there so people won’t be inclined to immigrate to the US for a better life.

China is still a communist country that rejects Christianity. That is a threat to our western way of life. I think if we form close ties with Christian Russia we would counter Chinese influence in our polar domain. I don’t think Russia is comfortable with China either since the Soviet in their country has been heeled and their going back to Christian values.

So our vision in foreign affairs needs to shift to South America. And the democratic party needs to be purged from it’s communist elements along with these elements serving in government posts.

Those countries have over 100 years of experience with us. They are joining w/ China because they want to and we (foolishly) left the door open … it will take,at best, a massive expenditure of treasure to get them back even against their will …

When they find out that everything China does for them is for China first then they will want to align with the US.

Yes we have neglected our back yard but our common interests hold more water than communist China. The dominant commonality we have with South America is Christianity. And it is their corrupt governments that don’t like us; not the people.

For our own security at our southern border we need to help those countries build their economies even if it is against the will of their corrupt governments.

I don’t think so. Their governments are corrupt for the same reason ours is…. money and power.

An impassioned plea to bring them/him home.

One wonders…..does Trump have anything hiding up his sleeve. And if he does, is he willing to play it?

Will his entire term be an act, a role, a non-stop rope-a-dope, filled with distractions/obstructions with little if nothing truly achieved? Is that the script? A Vince McMahon written tome that ends in a stalemate. “IF only ______ didn’t obstruct me, I could have put them in orange jumpsuits…..”

OR

HE actually plays the Trump card and perp walks elements of the deep state.

Option 2 seems less likely the longer it plays out. Justice perpetually around the next bend.

Just read Iraqi planes bombing ISIS positions in Syria. Interesting this is happening after the President went to visit the troops in Iraq.

In my life of 65 years nothing my country has done militarily around the globe has improved life liberty and that ever elusive pursuit of happiness for average American citizens .
Granted there may be a scintilla of success at something minute but never worth the cost of blood and treasure not to mention the eradication of rights assured us as Americans from nature’s god .
The attack on Americans morally , financially and dare I say legally by legislative edicts has been a malignant growth against the very nature of our Free Republic . All of this has been done with the excuse of keeping us safe . In the end we are less safe less free and bankrupt morally and financially .
Our nation can and must recoil from the international world stage of nonsense . Shut down all overseas military bases and operations and bring everybody home .
Move military into border control and give the UN it’s walking papers with an eviction notice . Those foreign nations wishing to maintain friendly relations with the US can maintain an embassy and negotiate terms of trade . All trade deals must benefit the American people not the connected few .
Closing our industries for a cheap car or appliance is not a benefit to the American people .
As for illegals in the US round them up and deport all of them .

I knew a guy who got a parachute as a souvenir from his part in the invasion of Grenada. We used it to parasail on a frozen lake. So there was that.

Outstanding report as usual. Now that israel has drained the u.s. nearly bone white perhaps we’ll get to a fresh start. But, IMHO, America can only be resurrected with a voluntary parting of the ways. Secession. It does seem impossible at present but there is an undercurrent brewing. More and more of we rabble are fully understanding the power of the “narrative” and how it’s employed to enslave us. Peer pressure is an extraordinary powerful force. Notice how people cower when called a ‘conspiracy theorist’. It’s how they get people to swallow an ‘airplane’ striking the very office in the pentagon that held the records of a 2+ trillion dollar heist. Or a building collapsing in it’s footprint from an office fire. But the undercurrent inextricably grows. TBP is living proof of it.

The Russians know how to win wars. They kill the enemy and everybody around them. That may not be ethical or moral or legal but it is effective. The USA has tremendous technological advantage but fails because of stupid rule of engagement. The Russians lost in Afghanistan because of the Pakistan Sanctuary created by USA. They weren’t willing to fight WW III over Afghanistan and they ran out of money. The lesson is that “if you fight a war fight to win”.

Win first then work on the PR. The winners write the history.

Ask yourself…has the GOAL ever been, a true victory?

Maybe the goal was always perpetual war, empire, robbery. Whether its in one theater or several.

If you profit from misery, do side deals, or even sell weapons; the longer the conflict, the more sales, the higher the share price goes, the more valuable your options become.

A quick/decisive victory can be of little personal benefit. Why not drag it out?
*********************************************************************

While DT claims victory, I do find it odd the timing of Russian involvement in Syria and the conflict winding down to manageable levels. I guess the Russians got lucky striking convoys of oil trucks going into Turkey and taking out military targets.

US forces were plagued by bad luck. Here are several examples: Dropping leaflets saying, “The missiles will be fired Tuesday at this location” (or just telling the enemy to vacate), Taking out Syrian power stations and water treatment plants with our missiles instead of enemy strongholds (OOPS!) and ISIS wiping out entire villages, creating mass graves of men and enslaving their women. It kinda created some bad PR.
*****EDIT, lets not forget arming ISIS by stocking coalition bases on the front lines with massive stores of weapons and cash, then pulling the bulk of the troops out so the base can be overrun. Great way to outfit ‘the enemy’.

It hard to remember all that’s happened in the last year or several years as there is so much news thrown at us and the duration of news cycle of outrage keeps shrinking.

Look Bert, the Ruskies were getting ready to spill the beans on the moon landing and other aces up their sleeve if the US had plans to bring a pipeline through Syria. Russia could have called BS on all the theatrical events long ago, they saved it for the checkmate move. It is what it is.

I think there are still a lot of US citizens who view foreign attempts at the real world Game of Thrones the same way Mark Twain viewed the same attempt in the Philippines back in the day.
This is one area where I REALLY wish US politicians would not try to emulate their European counterparts.

Entering the Syrian conflict, when the US had no dog in the hunt, was the loss – not the removal of troops now.
That lack of support also meant ROE’s that just made the situation a bigger, and untenable, mess.

Said it since mid 90s, withdraw all our troops, like the Russians create enough advanced weapon systems and say to the world fu, and don’t attack us or we will wipe you out.. but where is the profit in that am I right ?
