Trump is an idiot if he seriously wants to raise the Gas tax. A surefire way to hit the working poor/middle class in a very noticable way. The states already love jacking up gas taxes. PA and CA can’t seem to stop jacking up the gas taxes. I think the optics on such a thing would truly be horrible. I think he gets very very few Republicans to vote for a gas hike, so it would be him and the Dems to pass such a thing. I think its more likely Trump gets high on himself and his zealot fans at times and thinks he can do no wrong. If he forgets that alot of us held our nose and voted for him, and likely will vote for him again, but we are really voting against the commies.

While I certainly agree on the gas tax insanity, claiming that Amazon uses the roads without paying is preposterous (and the kind of mindless drivel you hear from ignorant liberals). Every vehicle that travels the roads (except for the electric ones), pays taxes on the fuel it consumes. These fuel taxes are “supposed” to go to pay for road maintenance, etc. If they do NOT, then that is a problem with government. If they have priced the tax incorrectly, that is something they should re-examine. But to say that Amazon is somehow exclusive in their use of the roads for their business model ignored the fact that EVERY retailer other than a farmer with a farm-based retail outlet (and even they need cars on the road for their customer base), relies on the transportation infrastructure to run their business. And don’t get me wrong. I am no fan of Amazon for many reasons.
Here’s an even better thought for raising the money that will cost us an additional NOTHING. How about ceasing our destruction and rebuilding of foreign country’s infrastructure and bring those dollars home to rebuild OURS??? Sure, Halliburton won’t be getting the contracts for repaving Main Street, but fuck them. They have already sucked enough wealth from this country.

Every state I have ever lived in has an EXTRY tax placed on the vehicle REGISTRATION that is supposed to cover – (don’t quote me since it’s been a while since I read the actual law and its many caveats) – road-wear CAUSED BY wheels (horse-drawn wagons?), tires (car, truck, c’uck – “el camino” – van, vanagon, station wagon, and “li’l red” (toy) wagon *; tractor-trailer and, in some cases, airplane), tracks, treads, horse-shoes, steel-treads (earth-mover or track-hoe), steel-soles – boots (a must if you work in the construction industry AND walk to work everywhere) – dew-claws, chicken-scratch, hail damage, and random sledge-hammer dammerage.
Now, I know this is an often overlooked tax, and since registration fees vary by county, population, bureaucratic inbreeding and nepotism, etc., people do not recognize that they are being fuc*ed twice without the courtesy of a reach-around, but it is not a falsehood that I am propagand – propogatin – propa – fu*k it – telling here: everybody already pays a tax for the maintenance of roads REGARDLESS of whether or not they buy gasoline at the pump in some multi-taxacationable district or in the middle of BFE (Exempt From Bull*hit) where only state and federal taxes (about 70 percent of your purchase cost) apply. In some counties, gas is much higher because the county mayor/manager needs his salary, g*ddamnit, even though his position did not exist ten years ago, until his brother-in-law (the county commissioner – another BS job) bribed him with it so that he would not reveal his marital indiscretions to the whole town and cause his public ruination and/or expensive divorce from his wife/county-mayor’s sister. Anyhow, buy ALL the DAMN*D ELECTRIC VEHICLES YOU WANT TO AND FU*K ‘EM IF THEY TRY TO STICK YOU WITH A NON-GASOLINE USAGE TAX. After all, to charge the thing you GOT to use coal/nuclear/hydro-electric power (UNLESS you got a swingin’ d*ck solar-panel recharge system) and, by greed/banker/bureaucrat and the ten planks of communism, you ALREADY pay TAXES on that sh*t.
