It most certainly does NOT take a government monopoly police force to keep a community safe from REAL crime (crimes against persons or property). These uniformed goons are about a “show of force,” enforcing government edicts that drive revenue, compliance and obedience, and providing safety and security for the local government leadership (at city council meetings, etc.).
One take would be that, once the cops are not available, John Q. can take care of business the way it should be. That is the best way to deter crime. Criminals aren’t scared of the police. They give a shit about the ‘justice system’. Only thing that really works is for them to fear their potential victims. In a big way.
