Bernie Sanders Arrives In Hong Kong To Lecture Protesters On How Good They Have It Under Communism

Via The Babylon Bee

HONG KONG—As soon as Bernie Sanders heard about the democratic protesters in Hong Kong, he knew something had to be done. The U.S. senator quickly chartered a flight to Hong Kong in order to throw himself into the fray.

Sanders bravely stood in the middle of the conflict between police and protesters, shouting at the “ungrateful little dissenters” that they don’t know how good they have it under a Communist regime.

“Remember, you could have it a lot worse—you could be in America!” Sanders bellowed as police officers for the totalitarian regime beat protesters in the background. “Hey, you! You on the floor there! You’re not looking very appreciative of living in one of the greatest Communist countries on earth!” Sanders continued his long-winded rant about the need for the government to own the means of production, how great breadlines are, and how bad things are in capitalist America as protesters got dragged away by police to be disappeared.

“Just think—in America, we have to pick between 14 different types of deodorant!” he said, his fingers flopping around like limp sausages.

According to sources, Beto O’Rourke is planning on joining Sanders to inform Chinese citizens how lucky they are that they don’t live in a racist country like America.

The Babylon Bee has to go to Hong Kong for its attempt at humor. They wouldn’t want to cite the foreign country that’s within walking distance of Sanders’ house – where no one pays a health insurance bill or a doctor’s invoice and where the price of college is a lot lower than in the U.S. What Sanders advocates would make us a lot more like Canada than the People’s Republic of China. Let’s hear from Francis Marion or RiNS. Are you guys feeling oppressed today? How about LLPOH down in Australia?

Why don’t you write a column about Canada?
You’ve posted about Canadian health care multiple times, along with comments about the cost of US health care–
i believe you might not like it so much after hearing from our canadian buddies, but i could be wrong–

That’s why I invited our Canadian and Australian buddies to weigh in. They have the expertise that I don’t. I’d be surprised if paying $19,000 in premiums for a $9,600 family deductible policy (meaning total healthcare outlay approaching $30k per year) could truly be better than what they have to endure, but maybe they can convince me that the American clusterfuck is actually better. I tend to discount the “pro free market” opinions of people who are themselves on Medicare.

i’m not on medicare if you meant me–
i’m not paying $19,000,but i am paying $12,000 for only my daughter & myself–
health “insurance” is a clusterfuck,i’ll agree, but socializing it even more is not the answer–
we can’t continue to keep chronically ill people alive unless they foot more of the bill, huge discounts 4 paying cash, the ability to shop, what else ?

I have no idea who’s on Medicare, so I didn’t mean you, but I know that there are some Medicare recipients here – and I ain’t getting any younger myself. I don’t know (and it doesn’t matter) if you get insurance through your employer, but people should be aware that if their portion of employer-paid insurance is $10k, the employer is probably paying another $8,000 for their side. So private insurance is more expensive than a lot of people realize. As far as being a cluster – I’ve told the tale of my 5 day stint in intensive care, where I got an invoice for $116,000 that magically got transformed into $14,000 of actual cost after it had been processed by insurance (of which I paid $5,600 as my own deductible). So $102,000 of the invoice (88%) was pure unadulterated bullshit that serves the sole purpose of scaring people into paying through the ass for insurance.

I would totally agree with you on keeping government out of the insurance/health business altogether – on the condition that they first outlaw fake bills entirely. The price should be the price, no matter how it gets paid or by whom. If, however, government is going to continue to allow the fraud we have now to continue, then I’m not convinced that going to what Canada and Australia would be worse.

Oh, I can imagine all the laughter in Hong Kong if this ever happened.
