On Friday, the Supreme Court announced that it will hear a case regarding whether faithless electors have to cast their vote in line with their states’ popular vote.
The case will take place in April, with a decision by late June.
At the moment, about 30 states require electors to vote for the states’ popular vote winner. Back in 2016, three Hillary Clinton electors in Washington and Colorado refused to vote for her despite her victory with the popular vote.
An appeals court in Denver ruled that faithless electors can vote as they please. However, in Washington, it was decided that a $1,000 fine would be upheld against the three electors. Unsurprisingly, this is an attack on the electoral college. In 2016, Trump far surpassed the expectations mainstream media pundits reported for him:
“No path to 270” became the favorite talking point, discussing and trying to legitimize the notion that it was simply impossible for Trump to get 270 electoral college votes needed to win. Trump actually came out with his victory at 306 electoral college votes – but sure, no path to 270.
In 2016, Micheal Baca was a faithless elector in Colorado who voted for then-Gov. John Kasich of Ohio despite Hillary Clinton’s amassing of the majority of votes. Baca still was able to put his choice in, even for a Republican. That was, however, until they removed him and replaced him with another elector that gave their vote to Clinton.
Baca alleged this his removal violated the Constitution. He sued, claiming “electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for president” – pointing out that it stated nowhere they all had to agree in unison. In the 10th Circuit Court, Baca won by a 2-1 ruling but lost before a federal judge.
It’s been revealed that the Government Accountability Institute concluded with “high confidence” that 45,000 illegal votes were placed in 2016. If the anti-Trump GAO has 45,000 as the number of illegal votes, rest assured that the real number is all but certainly many multiples larger.
If faithless electors were locked in place and forced to go by the popular vote winner of their respective states, all the Democrats would need to do is cheat the elections with bad ballots. However, with the college in place, they cannot cheat and force the outcome they want.
The Supreme Court’s ruling, around June, will come just months before the election takes place. This ruling could be pivotal for choosing the next President of the United States.
With the latest strategy in the Democrats arsenal being impeachment, it’s no wonder they believe they’ll have to rig another election to secure a victory – we all remember how well Kavanaugh went for them…

The system of the electoral college is designed to have flexibility.
E.g. Gulag loving Bernie gets a popular vote victory but even more, tapes come out showing his plans for internment camps for conservatives and whites in general. Well, the electoral college decides, fuck you Bernie and votes for Trump or after several rounds Rand Paul!
Nobody won a majority in 1860 (4 parties running actively) and Lincoln won in the electoral college.
The electoral college is specifically designed so that small states have a say…eg. MT has 3 electoral college votes (effectively 2 Senators and 1 House Rep). If we simply had national majority voting as the Dems want…no presidential candidate would ever come to my lovely state and NYC, LA, Chicago, Dallas etc would get all the attention and we would have been commie a long time ago.
Maybe you don’t see that…..without the electoral college system the USA would have been commie several decades ago……and we conservatives have wasted those decades pretending “well at least still have the constitution”…..
Re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic is helpful but not sufficient. VA is a great example…..massive protest, peaceful and yet the Dems are undeterred the struggle just ramps up…..that is reality little fellow…..
Like usual (you never did take anybody’s advice to do more thinking) you offer nothing in the way of solutions.
I suggest the next step is the European style “blockade” type protests to shut down the urban areas…..block the highways, the trains, the ports. Still peaceful, doesn’t destroy anything…and is really good video!

I like it, civil disobedience with open carry in DC….liberal heads explode. Dan Bongino, former secret service agent commented yesterday that the presidential protection service is well aware that the safest type protest is a conservative gun rally….literally a 100% safety record. So I like the idea.
The challenge with any of these national marches is to get the bodies there….eg. the Farrakhan Million Man March was a flop because approx. 500,000 showed up…..which actually was a pretty good turnout. Mass movements, have to have mass….so start local and build.

Here was probably the largest gathering in DC…ever…completely ignored by the media, I was there.

On October 4, 1997 over 3 million Christian men descended on Washington DC for Stand in STAND IN THE GAP: A SACRED ASSEMBLY OF MEN, a day of personal repentance and prayer for our nation. The footage here was all shot as they prayed and sang and were inspired by incredible Christian speakers. I shot all but a few segments of this footage. The most impressive shot (one I did not shoot) is near the end of the video. It is an aerial view from above Lincoln Memorial looking down the Mall toward the Capitol. The mass of men, packed in like sardines, extends from this side of the Washington Monument to the Capitol and from the buildings and streets on each side. I am still emotional when I watch this footage…Evidence that GOD IS AT WORK in the men of our nation!

I suggested shutting down the state weeks ago via work stoppages and such. The protest accomplished absolutely nothing as I suspected. The only positive outcome was no violence as I expected gov’t goons to start shooting the place up as a false flag operation.
I don’t believe in democracy, voting and all the political nonsense so many people are invested in. I believe in anarchism – rules but no rulers. I don’t need no stinking president, congress or supreme court as they’re all just a cover for the deep state that actually runs things.
Too many people keep looking in the wrong direction for a solution. I want to just get rid of the useless and actually extremely detrimental gov’t.

SAO, I agree with you in principle. Aim for anarchy and then maybe we would get a small enough Govt.
The problem is this: most people are Tribal in their nature. If total anarchy set in soon enough like minded people would band together for protection from the inevitable parasites that would be lurking. Then somebody would have to be the leader and then they would have ‘rules’ that would have to somehow be enforced.
If we have an upward shift in consciousness, then we should give Voluntarism a try.
The parasites you mention are with us now. They ARE the gov’t and all the criminal predators the justice system keeps around to keep the decent people in line via fear tactics. Voting in a different set of crooks is non productive. We need to get rid of them.
If I had my way, there’d be lots of dead people who committed a crime only once. I see absolutely no need for prisons. If restitution can be made for some minor damage (accidental property damage, etc) then that should be the remedy. For any premeditated crime, the perpetrator, a predator, should be killed on the first offense and the person injured should pull the trigger. Everyone armed and dangerous. No need for absolutely useless cops. The very idea that juveniles or the mentally ill should be spared is ridiculous. You did the crime – you’re dead.
Well good luck with that, the entire history of humanity is about forming communities and those who lead them….from small family units to blood-based clans, to larger tribal affiliations to federations of tribes, cities, nation-states, and empires…..
In the real world, no man is an island…..it sucks but that is where we live.
All the Supreme Court has to do is read the documents from the founders. It’s all spelled out. The EC was supposed to be independent. They didn’t trust the judgment of the people. They even thought of bringing the electors to Washington for their vote, but decided against it due to travel problems. After the Constitution came into effect, only a couple of states even voted for the president directly, which didn’t count anyway. It wasn’t until the mid-1800s that all states started doing it. And the EC was put in the Constitution before parties (factions) came about, which is what this is all about.
And there you have it! Why and hell are we going down this path of having SCOTUS hear a case of what I would consider pure BS? Am I the only one feeling like we are being played?

The election system and the electoral college was constructed by men who were much more intelligent and understanding of the construction of a Free Republic that anyone in Washington today.
These attempts at eliminating the electoral college, are simply another weapon to destroy the US and the US Constitution.
The United States as a free nation, is now under attack from forces who would make us part of a collective of slave countries ruled by the largest Corporations.
Our future existence as a nation where freedom and self determination exists is very much in peril. If the people do not unite and commit to fight the forces who desire to enslave them, then this county will fall to tyranny and feudalism.
Freedom is not free, and must from time to time be paid for with the blood of both patriots and tyrants.
