Pelosi responded:

… and one failed impeachment later, Trump returned the favor and snubbed Pelosi’s handshake as he took the stage at today’s SOTU address.

Pelosi, as expected, snubbed Trump right back, introducing him only as “The President of the United States”, whereas traditionally the speaker has used the language: “I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the President of the United States.”
Still, Trump will have the final laugh: in less than 24 hours the Senate will vote to acquit Trump of the impeachment farce passed by Pelosi’s House a few weeks ago, a process Pelosi herself did not want to pursue afraid that it would backfire and cripple the chances of the establishment’s favorite candidate, Joe Biden, but was ultimately was forced to concede by the radical left-wing in the Democratic party.
In retrospect, she should have gone with her gut feeling.

Pelosi is pushing 80, she’s a drunk like Hillary and she’s senile. Watching her antics is like watching a spoiled brat who didn’t get it’s way. The problem is this what the democrat party has become and she is playing to her base.
The alternative she referred to was sticking her tongue out at the president and putting her hand under her arm to make fart noises while he spoke.

You would think that after all the years she spent in government she would have learned how to control her visceral responses when in public view. I read an equal amount of the pro and con comments and those who support her are almost exclusively still convinced that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election in 2016. In other words, the political reality is not perceptible to them, only the narrative that they believe in. They see no problem with the optics of her petulant hissy fit because Trump is guilty of conspiring with Putin and he cages immigrant children.
On Trump’s side they see him goad her just enough to provoke a poorly thought out response yet again.
But for the majority of your ordinary, everyday American working stiffs, all they see is a petty act of disrespect to the office and the tradition. Like a President telling the nation that it’s state “is strong”, it’s the form that counts, not the veracity. She’s the smartass writing dirty words in newly finished concrete after the workers have completed their task and it isn’t cute, it’s offensive.
No one who dislikes Trump is going to change their mind and no one who dislikes Pelosi is going to find her acceptable, but the huge bell shaped swell called middle America is going to perceive it for exactly what it was and make their decisions in the voting booth. Another fifty million foreigners and they would have flipped the table, but this silly tantrum made that scenario impossible for 2020.

If I hadn’t refused to watch it, I might have ran onto my porch out here in Podunk, Nowhere close to the Suburbs of the Sticks and tried to get the Coyotes (even in Cali) to start howling!
There is something seriously wrong with that woman… It would be moar apparent if Pelosi wasn’t such a devotee to plastic surgery.. physiognomy being what it is..
And it is tactical error. How can she expect Trump to play nice when she snubbed him a year ago with that taunting clap thing.. The woman is 709 years old and acts like a pre-teen girl. It is beyond pathetic for someone so close to the Throne in Rome.
Tearing up the speech was a serious tactical error.. but the greater faux pas was reaching out earnestly before start of SOTU by looking for a handshake that almost begged Trump for attention.

I don’t know what angle this picture is taken from, but ALL of the other pictures that I’ve seen of the “handshake” incident including watching the video in slow-mo it looked like Trump had already turned away and there was no way he could see her hand extended. I’m thinking this one has some foreshortening going on to make it look like she’s almost touching him and I know from the other angles that that wasn’t the case. Also, notice the funny way she’s holding her hand? Like she wants to make sure that her fingers aren’t sticking out far enough for him to catch sight of them.

I missed it but I got a recap from the work wench. She said the overall feel was like a Greek gladiator show where the guy goes out to kill a lion with the men in the audience pumped up and cheering super loud and on cue, as if there was an applause sign flashing, while the women remained silent except for the part about equal pay. She also described the tearing up of the script which sounded like high drama but not shocking to the work wench who practices those things herself.
I read an interesting observation that applies to her – a former barmaid used to handling men – and Pelosi: “If the package is feminine, disarming and childlike, you can get away with more assertive, independent and [stereotypically] masculine behavior.”
