they do. but they tend to cheat, substitute, and pretend, so they put on good shows but it’s all fake. and they all know it’s fake, but they’re all ok with that.

and they won’t be able to sustain it long term. alisa rosenbaum expressed it best – an eastern potentate doesn’t need technology to bang ten women every day and fall asleep drunk every night, so he won’t bother with it, but anyone else having technology is a threat to his rule, so he’ll ban everyone else from having it at all. that’s where they’ll wind up.

they didn’t. they built something and called it a hospital. this is china, that’s how they do everything.

Looked like a hospital to me. The one’s we build here in the US are monuments to those that donated the funds to build them or designed them and are so extravagant that they could be museums. Function over form should be all that is required. Why do Universities spend so much on extravagant Union Halls and Science Buildings? Why not a simple prefab metal building or concrete tilt wall construction? We don’t need huge lecture halls anymore this shit can be done on the web on computer. But I digress, sorry… Chip

“looked”, sure. that’s how they do things. the confucianist overlord (or now communist party ruling class families) tells you the way it is, and you smile and nod and agree – any disagreement with a superior is evil, by definition.

“why not simple prefab metal buildings”

why not mud huts?

Well smaller gov you obviously have no experience with building a modern hospital. Ever heard of or installed a laminar flow system in an OR. How about the interface between the lf units and keeping an overpressure in an or to keep outside germs and other nasties like the current corona virus out of said or. Maybe you have experience with running return air and exhaust air systems thru uv light and chemical baths to kill things like the corona virus running rampant in China. A ten day hospital is nothing more than a disease recycling center that will most likely infect the workers in said hospital than cure anyone. I have installed commercial HVAC systems for 35years and have built a bunch of hospitals. Just my trade takes a lot of time not to mention all the other trades needed for monitoring equipment for both patients and building back-up power and all the other things you know nothing of. A ten day hospital is most likely just a stop on the way to the creamatorium. FOOT

I’ve built modern hospitals, clinics, and all types of buildings. I did construction, design, and management of both my entire life. Over forty years of experience. So before you start judging someone maybe you should learn a bit about them first… Chip

Been in construction for just over 15 years and still a newbie but agree with you chip.

Here in West form and fit is put far above function. And in my experience Hospitals and Schools are among the most painful design processes. It seems that nobody wants to be responsible for anything.. it is always design by committee so that blame gets spread around.

The longer it takes, the better it is for everyone.

The company I work supplied rebar to build a local hospital and it was a shitshow from the get go…

The stakeholders couldn’t be bothered to keep track of themselves little lone a hospital. The contractors involved just sat back and waited for the mistakes and confusion to pile up. It was all plain as day in the Contract Set. Drawings were half complete and nothing was thought out. Everyone had a wish list. Even a novice with one glance could see the problems that would ensue..

One of the most egregious things done was in the new Operating Room addition. The geniuses who designed it forgot to consult the Doctors who were going to use it. They had entire room done with much fanfare… Then the folks who had to use it showed up and said it had to all be tore out. So they did and lots of money was wasted making the room right for that man’s committee…

Skip to this hospital and the reason it got built so quick was because there was only one person in charge….

And no multi-cultural hiring requirements. Didn’t see any female quota impediments either.
Let’s be honest, when you have a unified people of a single, national mindset you can move mountains.
The mocking is ridiculous. The Great Wall is a wonder. The terracotta army and underground complex built centuries ago took an estimated 100,000 workers 37 years to complete. The world’s largest pyramid almost a square mile, is also in China.
Imagine what we could do with that kind of unity. Look how effectively we built the great Alaska highway through mountains and crossing rivers in frozen countryside in 18 months for hundreds and hundreds of miles… now it takes 6 Mexicans to ineffectively fill a pothole and a decade+ to build a ” freedom tower”…
Mock them but politics aside, a unified people, a singular people and culture acting with national pride is powerful… Fifty years from now, what is left of our “diverse” nation will be a crumbling, broken and bankrupt mess.
China was there centuries before us and most likely will be there when the USA is a memory.

You can build things real fast without plumbing. I didn’t see any pipework put in place before the foundation was poured. Also looked like minimal foundation work and no grouted piles. More like a prefabricated warehouse, which means how many days prior to this propaganda extravaganza was the prefab fabricated? What DayX of the virus outbreak was this?

For comparison, in 2005/6 my employer, Woodside Energy, decided to contract a Chinese deepwater drilling rig to drill their Jahal prospect in the JPDZ region of Timor Sea. It took 4 months of repairs and retrofits to get the rig up to Australian maritime code prior to entering Australia’s EEZ, and there were significant rig system breakdowns during the drilling program. And yes, there was a ballast related load shift that should never have happened that crushed a
guy in a storage container when all the stuff in the container fell on him. So, these guys can’t convince me they are building a “hospital” in 10 days, and if it is a hospital they’ll spend the next 5 years doing constant repairs.

At 1:44 it mentions sewage water treatment rooms. Plumbing must have been run through the walls. It does make you wonder when they started the pre-fab. Just 1,000 beds would take quite a while to build.

We can do the same thing with inflatable MASH units again site prep and go , no permit process no environmental impact study and no politicians with their brother in-law or son winning the no bid contract . Also all pre-fab plug & play . Not the place you want your kid or other loved ones boxed into .
Sure crisis management forces a great deal especially when the Chi-Com government does not accept no or excuses !

The Chinese – as a group – have always been the worker bees, the ants. They are incredibly industrious and there are a couple billion of them. Couple that with an authoritarian government and voila.
Rigid steel bolted in square cubes, pre-fabbed by probably a 100k factories. The same with all the other materials and equipment. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but I’m pretty sure it will get the immediate job done.
