Top Virginia health official warns state lockdown could be ‘two-year affair’

Via The Washington Examiner

Virginians hoping for a quick restart of normal life may be in for a rude awakening after the top health official in Virginia said the state could be in lockdown for the next two years.

During a Friday afternoon briefing on the coronavirus response, Virginia Health Commissioner Norman Oliver said Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s “Phase One” coronavirus response plan, which involves business closures and social distancing, could last for as long as two years.

“I, personally, think Phase One will be a two-year affair,” Oliver said. “There are a lot of people working on this, and I hope they prove me wrong, but I don’t see it happening in less than two years.”

A Virginia Department of Health representative immediately attempted to walk back Oliver’s comments, suggesting that Oliver meant the coronavirus will be with Virginians for two years and not that state-mandated lockdowns would continue that long.

But a proposal of what the commonwealth will look like as health officials worry about a second wave of the virus in the fall is yet to be seen. Northam’s “Phase One” plan requires “continued social distancing, continued teleworking [and] face coverings recommended in public.”

As millions file for unemployment across the country, the demand for citizens to stay indoors has led to a number of mass protests from Michigan to the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond.

Northam said the state is considering measures to track and quarantine individuals who are infected with the disease.

“We will get back to work by greatly increasing our testing, then tracing the contacts of people who test positive and isolating these individuals, not everyone in Virginia,” Northam said. “That is the key to moving forward.”

The Virginia Department of Health reported a spike in coronavirus cases in Virginia, with more than 700 new cases diagnosed on Friday alone.

However, all abortion clinics, particularly those specializing in post-partum procedures, will remain fully open for bidness. For the health and safety of Virginia’s women you understand.

Where I live, every single church was shuttered on Easter Sunday. But liquor stores are considered essential businesses and you can line up with 50 of your best friends and they won’t even bat an eye.

At first I was pissed, then I was amazed, then I was amused. Now, I am just burning with hatred and disgust for all the politicians and the imbeciles who enable them. God damn every one of them.

The pols are all about covering their asses in fear of being condemned should the death rate increase after a lockdown suspension. Deaths don’t matter nor do bankruptcies, inflation, unemployment, health, you name it, only the thought of being criticized matters.

And the good Virginians-West Virginia awaits. There’s no hope to vote your way out. Just secede like your brave forebearers did.

Yeah, there was a pretty vocal secessionist movement in VT when I moved here in 2012. Not a peep from them in years. The “Republican” gov. signed new gun-control laws and is a lock-step lock-downer. New boss same as the old boss. Natives complain about flatlanders but then the Old Boys carve up the place and serve it on silver platters to anyone with deep pockets: Nutmeg Staters, NJ wind-farmers, Chinee EB-5 investors.. whatever and whomever… they are total whores.

The “brave forbears” seceded because they wanted to do exactly that: carve up the pie themselves. No?

I emailed the VT secession web page when we moved to Bennington and never got an answer. Too bad.

The only way this can possibly work, is if they stop blowing trillions on saving the already wealthy Wall Street finance assholes from the well-deserved consequences of their actions – I think it’s something like $6 or $8 trillion so far – and pay Main Street enough to stay home without losing everything. Hiring some competent people to run things might be a good idea, too.

Neither will happen, of course.

The only upside is that no matter what the government does here, it’s bad for them.

I envision a day when I wake up and the news tickers all across the world are lamenting the flood of capital into anything other than a govt. currency…a day where the collapse of confidence (the true death knell for a core currency, and not money supply) in the USD is profound. A slow downtrend and then a channel breaking waterfall.

And as usual, the screamers bellowing that nobody could have seen it coming.

Something like this:

The problem I see is they’ve talked Trump into shutting down business for a pandemic “emergency.” How do you think Democrats will abuse that new power of the presidency? Climate change, anyone? Will they shutdown businesses because of a fake climate emergency? They’re already pushing the agenda on MSM.

They shut things down to act as cover for theft. Massive theft. Opportunistic theft that was a part of an economic and financial collapse baked into the books and growing since before 2007. Heck, try 1913….Here, Charles Lindberg quoting on what the consequences of creation of the Federal Reserve would create:

“To cause high prices, all the Federal Reserve Board will do will be to lower the rediscount rate…, producing an expansion of credit and a rising stock market; then when … business men are adjusted to these conditions, it can check … prosperity in mid career by arbitrarily raising the rate of interest. It can cause the pendulum of a rising and falling market to swing gently back and forth by slight changes in the discount rate, or cause violent fluctuations by a greater rate variation and in either case it will possess inside information as to financial conditions and advance knowledge of the coming change, either up or down. This is the strangest, most dangerous advantage ever placed in the hands of a special privilege class by any Government that ever existed. The system is private, conducted for the sole purpose of obtaining the greatest possible profits from the use of other people’s money. They know in advance when to create panics to their advantage, They also know when to stop panic. Inflation and deflation work equally well for them when they control finance.”

“This [Federal Reserve Act] establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President (Woodrow Wilson) signs this bill, the invisible government of the monetary power will be legalized….the worst legislative crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency bill.”

“Those not favorable to the money trust could be squeezed out of business and the people frightened into demanding changes in the banking and currency laws which the Money Trust would frame.” – Charles A. Lindbergh Sr.

“The Aldrich Plan is the Wall Street Plan. It means another panic, if necessary, to intimidate the people. Aldrich, paid by the government to represent the people, proposes a plan for the trusts instead.” – Charles A. Lindbergh Sr (The Aldrich Plan didn’t pass, but was rewritten with the key elements intact and renamed the Federal Reserve Act)

What’s going to be interesting is if you have a state like Virginia which is threatening to extend this COVID-19 nonsense for two years is how many citizens will elect to move to another state that has an open and vibrant economy because they re-opened sooner rather than later as Georgia and South Carolina are now doing. Many of these states like New Jersey and New York are already hemorrhaging large quantities of taxpayers fleeing those states due to the cost of living. How is this going to help them retain their respective tax bases. Also I think the Governors of these States will ultimately be held accountable for ruining their state’s economies for a bad cause.

I don’t think it’s great for the people who destroyed their states to relocate and do it to good states like Tennessee. No Vacancy.
