The price of gas can NEVER fall below about $0.50 a gallon.

Because the worthless bastards in the federal and state governments have roughly that much tax on every gallon.

I tried looking for the state ranges and didn’t find anything above 50cents total. It seemed low to me, especially for shitholes like CA and NY.

Excise taxes which is what a gas tax is and in most places sales tax is also charged on the excise tax. In Illinois, depending on the county, some of which may have some sort of tax, a $2 gallon of gas has a state tax of 38 cents and 14-21 cents sales tax. Transport and all other expenses for the station come out of the roughly 70 cents a gallon the dealer gets at the pump, assuming he is paying 70 cents wholesale for the gas.

NY $.696; CA $.69; HI $.68 These prices do not include any sales taxes which are added to the total cost per gal.
