Colleges Attempt To Impose “No Parties, No Trips” COVID-19 Rules For Fall

Via ZeroHedge

Even after big names like Harvard announced “online only” classes through the Fall semester, many colleges and universities across the nation will be opening campus for in-person classes with even sports to resume, albeit with strict coronavirus safety measures in place.

Anxiety is still high, however, as schools deal with a variety of “unknowns” as it will try to enforce everything from regular COVID-19 testing, to socially distanced dorms, to face-masks at all campus events, to a ban on parties for students often paying sky-high tuition. Concerning that last one — a strict ban on parties, which many have long seen as part of the ‘college experience’, this will be much easier said than done. Is it realistic?

“As they struggle to salvage some semblance of a campus experience this fall, U.S. colleges are requiring promises from students to help contain the coronavirus — no keg parties, no long road trips and no outside guests on campus,” AP reports. “No kidding. Administrators warn that failure to wear masks, practice social distancing and avoid mass gatherings could bring serious consequences, including getting booted from school.”

The report notes that Tulane University, which happens to be located in one of America’s most iconic party cities, home to Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street – but which for perhaps the same region emerged last spring as a virus hotspot in the South – has issued a strict ban on large parties:

After a summer weekend of large gatherings, Dean of Students Erica Woodley wrote to students, stressing her key point in bold, capital letters.

“DO NOT HOST PARTIES OR GATHERINGS WITH MORE THAN 15 PEOPLE, INCLUDING THE HOST. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL FACE SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM THE UNIVERSITY,” Woodley wrote, signing off with, “Do you really want to be the reason that Tulane and New Orleans have to shut down again?”

Cornell, Syracuse, and the University of Pennsylvania are among other schools attempting balance having in-person campus life with severe limits on student gatherings. Those schools which went straight to online Fall classes in many cases determined enforcement of social distancing would remain elusive, however.

“Animal House” (1978)

Without doubt, this will be a first such social experiment of its kind. On the one hand students will demand a full ‘experience’ on campus (or just off campus), while administrators will scramble to impose strict guidelines while threatening dire consequences.

And looming over all of remains that the moment a cluster of COVID-19 cases breaks out on campus, the whole school could come grinding to a halt.

Good luck with all of that. These kids, while overall not as bright as past generations, can still read for the most part. I am SURE they are all thinking the exact same thing:
How can we get around this? Kids in this age group like to drink, have sex, dance, play beer pong, and join fraternities. And the “no long trips” is basically saying no to Spring Break. Yeah ok. How are they going to stop it?
These students also know NO ONE personally in their peer group who had died, and like all the young think they are invulnerable. This is just a fact of life.
All these colleges are doing is pushing them into remote learning where they will just take the college lifestyle somewhere else.
There will be apartments and homes rented way, way off campus where they will continue to have alcohol fueled parties and casual sex with strangers. And believe me, there are property owners that will secretly cater to these things because they want the dough. It will just all go underground.
They will go to Florida and Cancun for spring break. You think the Mexican government is going to say no to millions in tourist dollars? Please.
Eventually this will be like prohibition, and we will now have secret gatherings and bars where people can be free mask or not, stand close or not. From what I read a month ago, there were and probably still are, secret bars and parties happening.
Sorry stupid colleges, but you cannot stop young adults from doing young adult things.
Morons.

Getting out of the country is easy, getting back in can be a different story. Even the boarder between US and Canada was an issue about 5+ years ago. You could enter Canada but, getting back in, even if you were a US citizen, was a test of a persons patients.

Canada is currently closed to US travelers.

Yes, today that is true. It was not closed to US citizens at the time all this took place. By the way I was visiting relatives I have in Canada. I learned how boarder enforcement had changed when I tried to return to my country of birth and citizenship.

They make it sound like the universities really want this shit, but truthfully, they are simply pandering to the worthless parents and their desperate fears. If they DON’T play up this crap, they will be deluged directly and on social media, with slams, attacks, protests, etc. Of course kids will simply be kids, but they have to pretend that they are going to enforce strict guidelines, etc. or nobody sends their kids and their big checks.

Not true. This top down and university presidents are junior members of the kabal.

Apartments, restaurants, and stores in college towns are going into panic mode with the thought of no students coming to town this fall. I went to OK State and the influx of 25,000 students on a 40,000 population town is immense.

No worries. As long as the institutions of higher learning can freely indoctrinate the students with Marxism, Negro worship and LBGTQPIBN then the post-modern college mission can be considered effectively managed.

The only permitted gatherings and parties that will be allowed on campus will be BLM, Antifa, Gay and Communist.

realestatepup,

Ur right. The law of unintended consequences will prevail. But then none of the IYI class, which is most college administrators and staff need stand this ages old dictum.
And besides I’m sure none of them ever did anything else while they were in college but study diligently….?

Auntie did indeed forget to add Sharia compliant gatherings for Mohammedans.

And Satan worshipers. Cannot forget to have a safe space for witches and the Devil’s own.
