Last week a few readers noted that the FF readers’ response section is slowly morphing into a kind of soft porn forum. Got me wondering what our female readers and some outside visitors (e.g., from Whatfinger) think of this. Last week may have been an outlier but there were about 140 pictures of pretty women, or parts thereof. FF was supposed to be about, um, failure (which is something I shine at), but beautiful women are the opposite of that; they’re God’s finest creation. Now it goes without saying that looking at fine women always brightens the day, but have we gone overboard? Let’s have a vote:
Thumbs up: No limit to the number of pictures of beautiful women, so fuck off, Bob.
Thumbs down: Reasonable limits to the number of pictures of beautiful women, say a couple of dozen as opposed to a dozen dozen, and fuck off anyway, Bob.

I consider any media objectifying anyone for the purposes of titillation to be porn. I know most of you don’t see anything wrong with what you do here. But for the many of us who have been seriously and negatively impacted by porn it is a slap in the face. I know people who would get a kick out of FF and even be interested in serious articles. But I will never forward a link — mostly because of the porn. Some, like me, have been sexually abused and some are recovering porn addicts.
I think this stuff seriously detracts from the purpose of this site. I think it limits viewership potential here — and not just for FF.

F.T. — I know all about words meaning things. My undergrad is in Language Arts. Other comments here used the term “soft porn”, so I went with that. It’s as good of a term as any other.
I have no problem with beautiful women being beautiful. And I agree that there are a lot of pics posted here that are stunning from that standpoint. Most of them have probably been seriously airbrushed, but still beautiful.
But those are not the pictures I’m talking about. The ones I mean are clearly appealing to the prurient interest. The male responses here to these pictures make my case for me. And the seeming minority status of a few of the models makes me deeply uncomfortable.
Now, to be clear, this is not my gig, my platform or my “space”. I’m not trying to spoil anybody’s fun. I’m not “anti-man” and I’d make a lousy feminist — at least by current standards. It’s not really my business at all. I never would have posted any of my thoughts if Bob hadn’t opened it up for discussion.
I just had a thought that, maybe, you guys would want to know that what you see as “innocent fun” could be seen very differently from someone else’s point of view. Those of us born in the late-’40s — growing up was a bit of a pisser. You see, we had something brand new — television — and, what with Superman — our generation suffered more broken legs and arms from putting on a ‘cape’ and jumping off of anything we could find — garages, out of trees, etc. To counter that, we also had mud and dirt and empty fields and flooded areas in winter made ice rinks for us … bicycles expanded our range (even before 10 years old) to way beyond our parents’ visibility or control. It was paradise … and, like the Milton book — it’s now ‘Paradise — Lost’.
The medical profession loved us … made more money than they ever imagined … but it was worth every moment of it as far as I was concerned.
we had some killer dirt clod/rock wars with the kids from the next neighborhood. Yep, the town Doc stitched up quite a few kids…
We had a boat made from a barrel cut in half with a torch that was held together with a wood frame that one person would row out in the pond. We then threw 2 liter bottles filled with water at them along with small pieces of lumber until we sank them and someone else would row out in the emptied “boat”.
We had an empty lot with crabapple trees. We’d get a stick, sharpen an end, and put a crabapple on it — and then fling it at someone. Plus we had dodge ball … on blacktop … and snowball ‘fights’ and cap guns and … one hell of a time.
Wouldn’t have missed it for anything …
An old broom stick was a great toy and extremely versatile. It could be your trusty steed riding after the bad guys and when you got in range, it became your rifle.

Throwing a knife like Jim Bowie and staying with it until you really knew how to do it. Midget football, baseball. Selling enough pop bottles to go to the triple feature on Saturdays. Discovering a huge fish packed pond miles from home that nobody in the neighborhood knew about and knowing exactly what to do with it. No matter how dysfunctional your own family was, freedom was as close as the screen door. A great time in American history to be a boy.
