Here in NC our idiot Governor is going to have 3,500 inmates released within the next six months. He is doing this to protect their rights and their health. The state claims that 45 inmates have died from COVID-19. So why does it make sense to release them into the general population? This is endangering the public on several counts. It is time to start a recall of Governor Cooper. This is a largely GOP state and I think it is time that we gave this numskull the boot.

U.S. Attorney John Durham Announces His Departure from Office, No Details of Special Counsel Role Continuing

An announcement today from the U.S. District of Connecticut John Durham is a little perplexing. According to the announcement USAO John Durham is resigning from office effective February 28. However, there is no information about his prior appointment as special counsel to review the DOJ and FBI conduct in the Trump investigation.

Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr appointed John Durham as a special counsel on October 19, 2020, and did not tell anyone until after the November election. [LINK]

On December 1, 2020, the Attorney General notified congress in a letter:

However, here’s the issue… under DOJ regulations [28 cfr 600] a special counsel must come from “outside government“; so did John Durham resign his position prior to the appointment, or has Bill Barr just given the appearance of a special counsel appointment while knowing the legal validity of it will collapse upon challenge?

Obviously Bill Barr is not stupid, he would know the regulations he cites would require the special counsel to come from “outside the U.S. government”, so what gives?

Did Durham resign to fulfill the statutory requirements of the special counsel? Was everything prior to now just the review and investigative phase, and now that decisions must be made Durham needs to be “outside the United States Government”?

Or is this all just an optical pantomime and the entire Durham investigation is concluded with nothing coming from it?

It was the same with the power house RICO lawyer bagpipe barr hired. Took a lot of flak on another site when I said barr wasn’t there to prosecute and that his hiring durham and the rico lawyer, can’t remember his name, was to mitigate damage to the swamp. Nothing else. Its all kabuki theatre…

This presumes to answer the special counsel question, if accurate.

But Garland may not play along.

John Durham resigns as US attorney, but remains special counsel

John Durham announced his resignation as the U.S. attorney for Connecticut but remains a special counsel reviewing the origins of the Russia investigation.

“My career has been as fulfilling as I could ever have imagined when I graduated from law school way back in 1975. Much of that fulfillment has come from all the people with whom I’ve been blessed to share this workplace, and in our partner law enforcement agencies,” Durham said Friday. “My love and respect for this Office and the vitally important work done here have never diminished. It has been a tremendous honor to serve as U.S. Attorney, and as a career prosecutor before that, and I will sorely miss it.”

Durham’s resignation is effective midnight Sunday.

The website for DOJ’s special counsel’s office notes Durham is leading it, and now lists him as running the investigation out of the Main Justice building on Pennsylvania Avenue. Dena Iverson, the principal deputy director for DOJ’s office of public affairs, confirmed with the Washington Examiner that Durham is still remaining in his special counsel role.

Attorney General William Barr quietly appointed Durham special counsel in October, after first assigning him to the task in May 2019, providing him extra protections from a new administration seeking to cut short his work. Republican allies of Trump lauded the criminal inquiry into the Russia investigation while some Democrats and national security veterans panned it as being tainted by politics.

MERRICK GARLAND DOESN’T PROMISE TO PROTECT DURHAM INVESTIGATION OR RELEASE REPORT

In a move that is typical with incoming administrations, President Biden asked all Senate-confirmed U.S. attorneys for their resignations, with Durham being asked to step down as U.S. attorney but to stay on as special counsel.

A DOJ official said Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss was also an exception, with acting Attorney General Monty Wilkinson asking him to stay on as he investigates Hunter Biden, the son of the president.

Biden’s nominee for attorney general, Judge Merrick Garland, declined to directly promise the Senate Judiciary Committee during a confirmation hearing that he would protect Durham’s investigation nor make his report public, though he said he didn’t currently have any reason to think it wasn’t the right move to keep the prosecutor from continuing his work.

Durham’s criminal inquiry has netted just one guilty plea so far, with former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith admitting to editing a CIA email in 2017 to state that 2016 Trump campaign adviser Carter Page was “not a source” for the CIA when it had told the bureau on multiple occasions that Page had been an “operational contact” for the agency.

Win22 calls the sunrise a psyop. Thirty years ago I was sitting outside the library and a homeless person walked up and started jabbering about how the FBI was spying on them. If that were to happen today I might be more likely to believe him, but that doesn’t mean that bum from 30 years ago wasn’t crazy. Same with Win22.

John Durham is known for clearing out corruption at the Boston FBI branch (where Whitey Bulger was an informant) and Giuliani is known for prosecuting the five families. This isn’t hard to figure out.
