2) A search for Meaning. Why am I here? Is this all there is? Do I even matter, and if so, to whom or what? Those kind of existential questions.
3) A crisis. Death of a loved one. or, a severe illness. Loss of job. Anxieties.
4) Children and values. Two heathens marry, live like there’s no tomorrow … then, they have kids, and some will have an “Oh crap, we need to teach our kids to live better than this” moment.
5) Feeling isolated, insignificant, or lonely.
6) The awesome power and beauty of nature.
7) Science, logic. You suddenly realize one day that the universe can not come into being from absolutely nothing, and that non-life cannot turn into a living cell … and are dissatisfied with the answers Science gives. (That’s the one most applicable to me.)
8) The God-shaped hole in everyone’s heart. The NATURAL tenancy of humans, since the dawn of time is a belief in a God, any god … and not disbelief. That is a fact.

Well, having worked in the school system…public and private, in a conservative area no less….they’re 100% correct. Did everything in my power to fight back. Was defeated many times over. Unless there is a mass exodus from formal schooling (which won’t happen), the solutions are few. I won’t hold my breath.
*Don’t assume the homeschool community is enlightened either. Maybe pockets here and there, but they’re difficult to find.
*If you give a damn about your kids, they’re going to have to sacrifice too. Trying to keep their life “normal” right now is not an option.
I agree with almost everything, except the last sentence. We can at least try to keep their life “normal” and I have found the best way to do so is to spend time at home, with siblings and parents and only very carefully vetted friends coming over to hang out with. Those are people that share the same sentiments, values and goals. Homeschooling is about a lot more than academics. Homeschooling is a way of living your life and passing on values and morals. In fact, imho, if your children do not do more than 30 minutes of schoolwork every day, the simple fact that you keep them away from all this crap makes for a superior childhood for them. And with Covid, the bar is even lower: keeping their faces exposed so they can learn to read microexpressions and the air flowing freely into their lungs so they can stay healthy, and most of all keeping them fearless is the best route to a nontraumatized mind.
They will sacrifice, too, I agree. But hopefully not until they are adults.

It’s not a sacrifice really in our minds (yours and mine), but to the others out there who keep sending their kids to a school for friends, or socializing, or who allow them to get the jab so they can still participate in sports or not have their “education” impacted, or to be able to take that vacation, etc.
They’re going to have to “sacrifice” and limit their kids’ social pool and not allow them to hang out with others who are continuing to be a part of this charade.

The United Methodist Church stands to lose more members and churches because of the issue of race than debate over LGBTQ inclusion, said Bishop LaTrelle Easterling.
Nevertheless, she said, United Methodists should not back down from the denomination’s commitment to dismantle racism.
“We don’t have time to wait,” the Baltimore-Washington Conference bishop said. “People can’t breathe.”
Easterling was among 18 United Methodist leaders who spoke with urgency about the issues confronting the church during the fourth annual Inclusiveness Conference, organized by the United Methodist Association of Retired Clergy.

The traditional punishment for homosexuality is death. There was a good reason for this. For some reason some generation believed that absolutely no wisdom went into any of our traditions so they were just free to regard them superficially and discard them at the suggestion of any plausible (but foolish) explanation.

Largest Lutheran denomination in the US promotes “LGBTQIA+” views
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States, distributed a new guide on “LGBTQIA+” issues, arguing that the Bible supports the inclusion of all people in all spheres of the church.
The guide advocates “for the full welcome, inclusion, and equity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual/aromantic (LGBTQIA+) Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church, congregations, and community”.
It trains church members in how to use the “SOGIE (sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression) spectrum”, and asks church members to “just avoid using gendered terms” when they have doubts about how to welcome a person.
The document gives definitions of terms such as “genderqueer”, “pansexual”, “gender non-conforming” and “androgynous”, calling to honour the “core and authentic part of oneself” of those who are not “cisgender”.

Well, #FukMeDed with a rusty chainsaw. When I posted this yesterday on my fag article I kept it there so as to not expose the wider audience to violence and vomiting.
Well, having worked in the school system…public and private, in a conservative area no less….they’re 100% correct. Did everything in my power to fight back. Was defeated many times over. Unless there is a mass exodus from formal schooling (which won’t happen), the solutions are few. I won’t hold my breath.
*Don’t assume the homeschool community is enlightened either. Maybe pockets here and there, but they’re difficult to find.
*If you give a damn about your kids, they’re going to have to sacrifice too. Trying to keep their life “normal” right now is not an option.
I agree with almost everything, except the last sentence. We can at least try to keep their life “normal” and I have found the best way to do so is to spend time at home, with siblings and parents and only very carefully vetted friends coming over to hang out with. Those are people that share the same sentiments, values and goals. Homeschooling is about a lot more than academics. Homeschooling is a way of living your life and passing on values and morals. In fact, imho, if your children do not do more than 30 minutes of schoolwork every day, the simple fact that you keep them away from all this crap makes for a superior childhood for them. And with Covid, the bar is even lower: keeping their faces exposed so they can learn to read microexpressions and the air flowing freely into their lungs so they can stay healthy, and most of all keeping them fearless is the best route to a nontraumatized mind.
They will sacrifice, too, I agree. But hopefully not until they are adults.
SL…you described exactly what I meant by they’ll have to sacrifice. It’s not a sacrifice really in our minds (yours and mine), but to the others out there who keep sending their kids to a school for friends, or socializing, or who allow them to get the jab so they can still participate in sports or not have their “education” impacted, or to be able to take that vacation, etc.
They’re going to have to “sacrifice” and limit their kids’ social pool and not allow them to hang out with others who are continuing to be a part of this charade.
