Is a Revolution Coming?

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

We have an amazing number of readers in France, and I want to thank everyone for all the emails documenting what is going on. Anyone who takes videos of protests in the future I have no problem sharing them for the world to see.

The details of what moves people to revolution are important. During the summer of 1789, Paris was in a crisis. The people had been suffering from food shortages and the high taxes used to pay King Louis XVI’s vast debts because of his fiscal mismanagement the treasury was empty at the end of 1788.  The French found themselves in the middle of unprecedented political turmoil which erupted with the opening of the Estates General, France’s Parliament, for the first time in more than one hundred years.

Many Parisians were also angered by the dismissal of the popular minister Jacques Necker on July 11th. Like Pelosi surrounding the capitol with troops, from the beginning of June 1789, Louis XVI had also positioned troops around Paris also claiming risk of extremists.

The militarization of Paris provoked a march to the Hôtel des Invalides, where the people also looted approximately 3,000 firearms and five canons. Instead of clothes and trinkets, they looted weapons. However, the weapons required gunpowder, which was stored in the Bastille. They then headed to the Bastille prison and tried to negotiate with its governor. That being unsuccessful, they burst into an outer courtyard and a battle erupted.

By the time it was over, the people of Paris had freed the prisoners held in the Bastille because they were simply there, and they had taken the governor hostage along with three of his officers. But the hostages were soon be killed and then beheaded. Their heads were paraded through the streets on pikes. Since the storming of the Bastille was to simply get gunpowder, the people were effectively unarmed and nearly one hundred died but only eight prison guards were killed.

All of this happened on July 14, 1789 (1789.53) which has been known in France as “Bastille Day” ever since. Once Louis XVI heard that the Bastille had fallen, he asked the duke de La Rochefoucauld: “So, is there a rebellion?” To which the duke retorted: “No, Sire, a revolution!”

Storming the Bastille became the beginning of the French Revolution when it was not intended as such. Yet, it has become an iconic moment in history. This was the spark that ignited the revolution forcing the King to begin concessions. That was the sign of weakness which then inspired the people’s movement to overthrow him that led to beheading both him and his wife in the hope of burying monarchy forever following the inspiration of the American Revolution nearly precisely 13 years before.

In 1880, the French made the Storming of the Bastille their national holiday. Unfortunately, France entered a century of revolutions (1789-1871) and numerous new republics after Napoleon.

Nevertheless, the two main issues that led to the revolution were (1) high taxes, and (2) food shortages which inspired the claim that Marie Antonette said: “Let them eat cake” which was the crust in the pan after baking bread.

Our models on France target 2021.73 which will be September 23/24. In 1895 on this day, that is when the French labor union CGT (Confederation Generale du Travail) was formed. In 1920 on this same day, that is when Alexander Millerand was elected president of France. Then on this day in 1941, General de Gaulle formed his government in exile in London.

There is a risk that we will have a real version of The Hunger Games as Biden pays farmers not to grow food which seems to be the reason Gates became the largest farmland owner in the USA – to stop food production?

I started figuring that out long time ago, way before the whole pLandemic came out.
Once I found the speech JFK gave I was sure of it.
PS: I was only 12 when he was killed and found out about this speech in the mid 80’s.

The cost of the important things in life for most people leaves no money left for anything else unless you use credit…and that’s the best case scenario.
We have have come to the end result of that situation. I am constantly amazed why things are not worse but I think that is changing as we speak.
A “Revolution” will never happen. Yes there will be armed resistance…a lot of guns owned by a lot of outraged people.
People that are hungry fight, people that are starving won’t do much of anything.

We already had a Revolution … albeit a small one …. on Jan. 6th.

I don’t see why we can’t have another one.

6 Jan was merely an unscheduled tour of the U.S. Capitol building.

A real revolution would have had, minimum, 535 formerly occupied seats in two chambers to fill that very day.

Do most Americans feel hopeless? If so, there won’t be a revolution according to this ….

But, then again, Emerson said — “”Every revolution was first a thought in one man’s mind.” And since thoughts of Revolution are seemingly now in the minds of millions, well ….. why not?

Then again, be careful what you wish for! Shaw wrote …. “Revolutions have never lightened the burden of tyranny: they have only shifted it to another shoulder.” IOW, the shit we get may be worse than the shit we have. Your “victory” may just result in a new master!

I am an immigrant citizen of the American dream … now living the American nightmare. A Revolution only needs dreamers who remember their dreams.

Are you talking about the “George Bernard Shaw” who endorsed “dictatorship” while at the same time denouncing the “Fabians” (which were those who proposed communism)
“until the Federation of the World becomes an accomplished fact we must accept the most responsible Imperial federations available as a substitute for it”
No wonder he didn’t like revolution.
And I’m no dreamer, my dream never took me at 70 in a world of chaos destruction and despair. But I’m ready to fight if it comes to it.

Yup, that Shaw.

Regardless of what one thinks of him, his foibles and his warts, he is absolutely correct.

The animals in Animal Farm deposed of their tyrant owner. They established a nation of their own. It wasn’t long before the more intelligent of the animals tasted the lure and addiction of power. They turned out to become the tyrants they once abolished! When has a revolution / rebellion ever resulted in a permanent place of peace and bliss? Never.

Tyranny, of various degrees from mild to viciously cruel, seems to be part and parcel of human existence. Why? Because the core of Human Nature is selfish and only seeks the good of oneself. Is that even in question?

One tyrant steps down, either voluntarily or by force, and another simply rises up from the masses.

This shifting of power is a repeating pattern in human history. It is always the psychopaths and humans with desires of power and glory who emerge (with the support of he people), then rise to glory (with the support of he people) , then rule and eventually shit on the selfsame people whom they needed in the beginning (with many promises of ‘it will be different this time!).

I don’t expect the next American revolution — if there is one — to be any different in the long run.

Actually, it wasn’t me who came to these shores with an American Dream in mind. I was 4 years old. It was my parents who came here believing in he American Dream. They passed those thoughts on to me.

Do you really think the Founding fathers who were the most intelligent in the farm choose tyranny? I don’t recall the Constitution mentioning ruling over the average man (or maybe I missed something).
Shaw most likely choose to pattern because he was somehow a psycho (I don’t know much about him, his tyrannical leanings were a turn off for me, I prefer the writings of a Thomas Paine, a Henry David Thoreau, a John Locke, an Etienne de la Boetie).
Your parents did great. I envy you.

“Do you really think the Founding fathers who were the most intelligent in the farm choose tyranny? “

No, sir, I don’t. There are exceptions to every “rule”. It is pretty well established that what is sometimes called the “American Experiment” is pretty damned unique and exceptional in all of human history.

No, the Founding Fathers did not choose tyranny! But …. but …… here we are, in 2021.

What’s the stat? Something like 95% of incumbents get re-elected, no matter how shitty or corrupt they are?

I have this sneaking feeling that all the Covid shutdowns and draconian crackdowns are happening as a cover for a massive financial collapse. ‘the Great Reset’ can’t happen until there is a massive collapse, such that the people will welcome any and everything that will put an end to the horrors. Agenda 21 writ large.

The unspoken truth is that the novel coronavirus provides a pretext and a justification to powerful financial interests and corrupt politicians to precipitate the entire World into a spiral of mass unemployment, bankruptcy, extreme poverty and despair.

Why destroy economies? Why shut down certain businesses, churches, etc. while allowing for corporate giants like Walmart to remain open? Why kill off the middle class, the backbone of the country?

In the words of Diana Johnstone, it’s “The Global Pretext”. An unelected “public-private partnership” under the auspices of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has come to the rescue of Planet Earth’s 7.8 billion people. The closure of the global economy is presented as a means to “killing the virus”.

Remember David Rockefeller’s statement from 2011?

David Rockefeller:

“…The world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.” (quoted by Aspen Times, August 15, 2011, emphasis added)

Additionally:
The Global Governance scenario imposes an agenda of social engineering and economic compliance:

“It constitutes an extension of the neoliberal policy framework imposed on both developing and developed countries. It consists in scrapping “national auto-determination” and constructing a Worldwide nexus of pro-US proxy regimes controlled by a “supranational sovereignty” (World Government) composed of leading financial institutions, billionaires and their philanthropic foundations.”(See Michel Chossudovsky, Global Capitalism, “World Government” and the Corona Crisis, May 1, 2020).

Watched Divergent recently. In the movie, one faction was injected with a chemical that turned them into drones. They were controlled by the government and ordered to kill the divergents…those who could not be controlled. The book series and the movies are aimed at the Young Adult market, as is the Hunger Games, Maze Runner, and others.

I consider books/movies such as these to be classics as they take on the complexity of human nature. As popular as the dystopian genre is among young people, it amazes me that they still cannot recognize tyranny and have the courage to stand up.

Losing hope for our young people. Some have courage, but not enough for massive resistance. This will fall on their shoulders. Were they born for such a time as this? I tell them that, but now wondering if I’m just lying to them.

GS, none of the Queen’s private estates are anywhere near that big. The biggest is the Duchy of Cornwall at 135,000 acres which is headed by Prince Charles. Sandringham in Norfolk and Balmoral in Scotland are both farmed, so not sure where you got your info from.

Think you may mean the Crown Estate which is about 260,000 acres and is made up of lots of smaller parcels of land across UK, some of which is farmed, and under the sea. She is the nominal owner as the current Monarch but the Estate is owned by The Crown which is not the same thing. She is effectively the titular head but doesn’t own privately.

The Queen is not the same as The Crown. Most people conflate the two. Goes back to Henry VIII and the City of London Corporation.
