If my wife and I decide we’d better move to Florida to avoid possible nonvax mandates, what are the chances of finding jobs quickly? It would be best for me to find employment while I reestablish my business down there.

Wages are terrible in down there and the cost of living has gone up a lot. I lived there for 5 years. Housing is through the roof not only to buy but to rent as well. We bought a house in 2012 for $225k sold it 5 years later for $290k and now the people are selling it for 400k (without any renovations). Insane.
You could do well on your own if you have a niche business but it will take time.
My 2 cents
I have friends in FL that I would refer to you to that are like minded individuals.
Thank you. My wife and I agreed to move to Florida if things got to shitty here in Northern Va. Well, our governor just implored private businesses to mandate the vax. How long until governors implore private businesses to mandate customers be vaxed as well?
Q: What are the chances the NAR will mandate vax for Realtors/brokers? Maybe businesses will start mandating vax for vendors even? This could lead to Realtors mandating everyone who does work for them to get vaxed?
N. VA has been a shithole for 5 years.
Much longer than that. I gave it a third chance in 2005 and we were gone again by 2009. I don’t even recognize it anymore. 2021 vs 1991 is night and day.
Used to live in Warrenton, then off to Belvoir area between 1989-2006. Left in 2006.
One of my boys lives just north of Mt. Vernon in Alexandria, RTE 1 north of Belvoir. Moved him from Augusta to Alexandria last summer and barely recognized the place, too. So much construction, so many people.
Warrenton is still reasonably preserved. Not perfect mind you, but compared to Haymarket, I actually recognized Warrenton.
I believe Mosby’s house was sold recently.
Realtors won’t do something just because NAR tells them to. Now, if the state makes vaccination a condition of maintaining a license …
Fl is terrific, and DeSantis has made an incredible difference when compared to the Northeast. However, there are concerns. One concern, the bozos from NY, NJ, PA, etc. moving to FL will bring their political stupidity with them. A second concern is he may run for president. A third concern (if he does not run for president) is if they can steal a presidential election, they can steal the governor’s
office
FL will permanently flip by 2028 if not sooner. Not that elections matter anymore.
What about when Desantis is gone? Or turns.
Mt governor is supposedly mr. freedom but he pushes the injection and has shady associations.
I’m not sure what anyone should do but I trust no politician.
I agree with you and TK above. Concerns are everywhere. Who would have thought?
I’m trying to go by laws that have been passes. What states have laws banning vax mandates?
MT is the only one.
https://fortune.com/2021/08/20/montana-first-us-state-to-ban-covid-vaccine-requirements-employees/
We also have constitutional carry and open carry. That’s the good news.
The bad news is prices are through the roof like all Red states. I don’t trust the Governor just because he was our US congressman until resigning to take this job. Still has swamp muck on his shoes.
A state that elects Jon Tester can’t be all good. Just because he’s fat doesn’t mean he’s not light in the loafers.
I didn’t say it was all good. I even said I don’t trust our governor. It’s only the recent hoards of rightish leaning transplants that has prevented a blue takeover.
Montana? I do love the west. Love the thought of Montana’s history also. If I remember correctly, it has the 2nd least inhabitants of all the states.
Being in realestate you might find some resonably priced overlooked places. The eastern half gets a bad rap about winters. Iv’e never encountered weather even close to Fargo and Minnesota for bad weather and mosquitos. Central Mt. near Lewistown has great fishing and hunting and not too populated. Livingston is plastic Faux tony yuppie and Missoula by beloved former home is filthy with dykes and homos. The people in east Mt. are the best there is.

A month ago we were in Amelia Island for an annual trade assn. meeting. Drove the 10 minutes or so to Fernandina Beach one day for lunch. The billboard on the sign for Sliders Restaurant said “$1000 bonus for any kitchen help”.
Depends on what you’re looking for. In Charleston & Beaufort SC every biz window or street signage says “We’re Hiring”. No vax mandate here… our AG is suing Columbia & Charleston for requiring masking in skools. Beaufort is still affordable, Charleston mostly isn’t.
I’m keeping an eye on SC but in the upstate region. FL is a last resort for this refugee family.
Greenville is better than Spartanburg, IMO. Great downtown. Not sure on housing affordability but would think it’s above average. Downtown condos are $$$$.
And you can drive 40 min or so to watch the Byrnes HS Rebels play the Gaffney Indians at Gaffney’s stadium – The Reservation.
Lamont,
I think we’ve had a conversation a couple years ago about Beaufort. Yes, this might be a good place.
Think we did. However, decent SFRs are hard to buy. I’ve made several cash offers for 3BR w/ 2 or 2.5BA in the last two months. One appraised at $262K, priced at $269K. I bid $274, it went for $285. There were 5 other cash offers.
Maybe things are changing? Of course it depends on the location…
Can’t afford a home for 1000 bonus kitchen help. have relatives there. Nor Happening.
Had a place in St. Pete, Pinellas County, for twenty years. Nice neighborhood with brick streets and a ten minute walk to North Shore Park on the Bay. Property taxes were adjusted every year based on sales in your neighborhood. When real estate took a hit after the ‘08 collapse the local cops were used to make up for loss revenue. Minor infractions earned big ticket charges. $140 if you did not come to a dead stop at a back street intersection. Moving violation plus having to take an online driver safety course to avoid points on your license.
OK if you are a hustler and have lots of energy and a thick skin. It’s a big state with everything from laid back redneck to Miami big city action. Just find your niche.
I would just need to set up camp and bring in some dough while I get my real estate photography business back to the kind of revenue it is bringing in now. A busy real estate photographer does pretty well, believe it or not.
I believe, especially if you’re good with drones.
Just don’t pack these future terrorists in your luggage!

WIP, did you catch the shit storm a-brewing down my way the other night? Y’all are inheriting that asshole on our school board soon. He voted for masks and his wife is a loon who got fired by our Governor. Apparently the kunta landed a job up your way.
Jay Cutler said he’s running in 2024 for the board now. LOL

AOC,
I don’t follow very closely because I do not have any kids in school now, thank God. But, I do think Fairfax County (the county I reside in) voted for masks. Weird because I drove by a school today and saw many kids without masks on. Maybe it was because it was the end of the day and they took them off once they walked out the doors. I do not know what kind of mental state I would be in if my kids had to wear masks to school. I do know that I would tell them they would get in ZERO trouble at home over anything at school having to do with masks. I’m sure that would work out quite well.
With media being locked up as far as what and who get covered, it is a losing game. No way any Doctor could agree with masking kids all day long…no way. Not unless they were bought by somebody.
I hope Cutler wins that seat.
GNL, do you do the staging or just take photos?

A friend of mine did the flip on this one this year.
G-N-L. better to come to AZ. We have many shit shot resistors. They will never beat us unless they nuke the crapitol Or as we call it up here, the late, great, state of Maricopa.
Many business opportunities. I’m thinking boomer whisperer would be a good one. And as they say the cream rises to the top
Thank you. I will research. What is a boomer whisperer?
I envision at as a sort of concierge for their last wishes. But in truth I don’t really know since I’m not a boomer.
It’s great to be a ‘boomer’. Only problem is we’re closer to the end than the beginning.
nursing home staff
Gotcha
If you go to AZ just make sure you bring 6 billion gallons of water with you😁
Fear porn, fake news. Bring a straw and your wallet, you’ll do fine
Hmm, I tried it for 3 years. Boca, then Ft Myers. Boca is like living in the NE with that east coast NY yankee pricks. Other side is with the assholes from Michigan. Summers are better because they couldn’t take the heat.
I would only consider the panhandle now. Sunny places and shady people was what the east side felt like. I loved the weather but hated the yankees. You never could go in a bar or something without some asshole declaring that he was from NYC on the east side. Not sure what your business is but most of it revolves around the service/hospitality industry. The further north you get the more into the south you get.
Absolutely true. At least away from the hotbeds like Tallahassee and Gainesville.
Yup. The interior is not bad, Gainesville sucks and Tallahassee is covered up in koons and shit.
shit=stupid liberal SOBs…Tallahassee City and Leon County don’t have a single Republican Politician anymore. If you like places like San Francisco, come on down.
Florida is a big place, defined by regions. There is the Panhandle, much like south Alabama. The Northeast, somewhat colder winters but with great places like St. Augustine and Fernandina Beach. Tallahassee, the capital, a beautiful small city. The Lost Coast, in the Big Bend of the peninsula, old timey Florida, very rural, with a Gulf Coast vibe. Tampa/St. Pete, big cities. Southwest Florida, very midwestern in outlook. Naples, big money. North central Florida, Gainesville (U of F) and Ocala. Central Florida, Orlando, Disney, and the Space Coast. Interior south Florida, lots of cows, swamps, Indians and migrant workers. South Florida, the state’s contribution to the madness engulfing America. A weird mix of people. Broward (Ft. Lauderdale) is gay and liberal, Palm beach is sort of liberal, but not totally insane. Miami (Miami-Dade County) is simply the craziest place in America. Fun, in a way, but……
If you want a job in Florida, you can get one. What industry are you in and what skills? Pay? Not that much different from anywhere else in the sane part of the country. If you expect get a public job and get paid like you would in a corrupt Democrat shit hole, forget it. You want to work for a living? You will do just fine. Housing has gone nuts down here, largely due to Covid. Yes, you will pay much more than you would have 2 years ago. That said, if don’t mind sleepy parts of north Florida, you can get alone with a normal rent or mortgage payment. Orlando, South Florida, and Tampa/St. Pete are pricey right now.
A word to the wise. Do not bring your liberal, northeastern politics or cold rudeness with you. If somebody smiles and says hello to you, you damn better sure at least acknowledge it. I can’t remember how many times I have had to restrain myself from punching some cold, bitter, nasty, constipated New Englander or New Yorker who ignored my greeting.
Oh, a note for Ms. Greenfield and other Woke types. Mind your own damn business. Nobody wants to hear your views on masks or vaccines and they may well react badly. If you are an especially obnoxious man, you can get your butt kicked or worse. And don’t assume you can run to the police. Florida law on Stand Your Ground is a bit hazy and if you provoked a fight with a stranger it is your ass that may go to jail, not matter who ends up shot or with a broken nose.
The mask thing is pretty much over here. it is too hot for them in any case. The real reason is that Floridians have figured out on their own that:
–Masks are useless
–Lockdowns are dangerous folly
–The vaccines are only partially effective, if at all
–This thing is going to run its course with or without human intervention
–We are by the pool drinking beer
By the way, I work overseas and travel constantly. I got the J&J just to have a Covid card. I was sleepy for three hours the next day. I do not think that I have had any ill effects (yet) nor have I been in the least protected. I take Vitamin D3,zinc and a multivitamin every day, work out, and wash my hands. I have ignored masking to the extent possible for one and half years. I have been constantly exposed to people who developed Covid. I have had more than 35 Covid tests – nada. In my company, our company doctor has prescribed ivermectina, some antibiotics, aspirin, an anti-inflammatory, and only limited rest in bed (keep moving). Out of more than 200 cases, zero dead and 5 in the hospital. All have recovered, most in 4-5 days. This whole thing is bullshit, except for the very old, the unfit, the obese, diabetics, people with lung issues, and a handful of outliers.
You will be dead within 5 years. Dumb ass.
WTF is that supposed to mean?
If you got the mRNA, you will die painfully of Pulmonary Artery Hypertension in 2-3 years; you won’t make 5 years. Anybody with good sense knows the government lies about everything. The Shot is safe ha ha ha!
It is just as silly to assume the vaccine will kill everyone as it is to think it has any use. It is a marketing ploy, like McDonald’s fun toys, dumb ass.
Within 4-7 days, 62% of people getting The Shot are d-dimer test positive and on their war to a very early grave. Take the 2nd shot and boosters to end your suffering faster. And look in the mirror for the real dumb ass.
SS, great insight, thanks for taking the time.
I recommend the Pensacola/Destin area of the Panhandle. I lived there after the oil bust in 1983 with my aunt and cousin.
Lots of industrious folks there and a wonderful Community Theater.
Somehow you forgot to write something along the lines of:
“…and the J&J I took is just a big fat nothingburger too. It won’t help, but won’t hurt me either.“
The “won’t hurt me” is the government big lie.

Depends on what your profession is and where you locate to. I finally got someone to take one of my forklift operator positions, but our commie Canadian parent company only brings them in at 16/hr then 16.83 after 6mo probation period.
Overall, wages are stagnant, even with the 15/hr dick head minimum the proles voted themselves not realizing that no one will hire shit bags at that rate. Even worse is the inability for upper management to understand that their nepotism is costing real production performance on the front lines that they milk for their retarded wages.
Start your own business or become a truck driver.
ZFG, out.
P.S. Florida is becoming American refugee central now.
Beware. All the folks I know heading to FL from NY are diaper wearing, Jab loving conservatives. Florida is being set up for a big take-down.
Suitcase nukes to follow because muh Russia.
North Central Florida is growing quickly.
Lots of property with low taxes is one of the draws. The other appears to be a place to ” bug out”.
Start small and grow with the area.
Lastly, Our current Guv is likely to be beat by his Ag commissioner. She’s saying all the right things to win the governorship so I’d be wary of things going along as they presently are.
Lastly, don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
I seriously doubt a vax mandate will stick down here.
Oh…employment will be easy.
Having lived in Florida my biggest fear that is when I die my soul would be trapped in a Jacksonville garage.
Auntie must sign off from TBP and am discarding the nom de plume forever as of this final dispatch.
(AUntie K. only borrowed the moniker from the Antichrist to make things known clearly defined as evil. Devil’s advocate as it were. The B3RG* have indicated they do not like it one little bit. Really )
The world is totally corrupt and salvation comes only by the grace of God the Father through his Son, by his sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
GOd forgive me my sins and the wickedness that I have uttered. Apologies to any and all offended except the Evil Bastards who murder babies in the womb and wish to mass murder people.
God protect all the good people of the Burning Platform and their families. Thank you Mr Quinn for providing this true free speech forum as God knows we need it.
May the Lord guard you from the Great Evil that is manifesting in the World. Revelation is here.
Bon chance my friends and God bless and protect you all in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
RESIST.
Noooooooooooooooooo.
Auntie, Num. 6:24-26
say it ain’t so!
Oh no, Auntie. Is it something we did? I feel like we are collectively being dumped by text message. At least, you owe us an explanation.
In all honesty though, I am sure, if you are serious, you have your reasons, and I wish you well.
“Auntie K.” may or may not be “Auntie Kriest”
May your defense be strong and your conquests, just.
Farewell Auntie
Lots of low paying jobs, not many homes for sale.
Just moved from Florida, after living there for over 25 years. I’ve moved behind enemy lines in NY state in a rural and strong Trump country area.
Though my family, friends, and career was in Florida, I saw the writing on the wall. 10 million are expected to move to Florida in less than ten years, expanding the population of the state to 30 million plus. This not only causes huge rises in property prices and fewer housing choices, it cause many basic problems too.
The infrastructure can’t handle it. Governor Desantis is working hard building roads to handle the traffic, and private companies are building gas stations and apartment buildings like mad, but it isn’t enough. We already had rolling brownouts in the Tampa Bay area for years. In time, that will become rolling blackouts. The electrical infrastructure can’t keep up. As for water, our aquifer is drooping precipitously low, causing sinkholes you read about on the web. What folks don’t realize, once the aquifer drops low enough, the saltwater from the ocean and gulf will seep in, ruining our fresh water supply, requiring expensive de-salination plants.
Traffic is already unreal in the Tampa Bay area. Some roads take you over an hour during the day to travel just six miles! The heat is tough during the summer months, which seem to exist 8 months out of the year. If you are older, you cannot go outside long in the heat and must stay indoors in air conditioning. That might be ok, if it wasn’t for the brownouts that shut you down briefly and shorten the life of your electronic devices including the A/C.
Growing a traditional garden in Florida is tough due to the soil being primarily sand and the brutal sun. If you do get to harvest, you find the birds have eaten all your crop, even your muscadine grapes! You can try netting, but we have some sizable birds that are not deterred. Don’t even think about trying to have a goldfish pond! Haha.
I loved Florida, I miss it each day, but my Florida is long gone. The Florida today is very crowded and the infrastructure is near the breaking point. Though I am in rural NY, I have found many more opportunities here, and a good place to hide and ride out the crazy times so far. Good people here and life is much simpler. Nearest major city is about 80-100 miles away, and the interstate is over ten miles away.
As for vaccine mandates, that won’t happen while Desantis is in office, but Charlie Crist is going to run, and he will try to force mandates. Our election system is still wrought with fraud, and Crist won his last election due to that fraud. Until the fraud can be fixed, there is always a chance Florida will go illegitimately blue.
We always complain about liberals infiltrating our red states. Maybe it’s time to infiltrate the blue states for once and take their rural areas from them. What ever you choose, just follow The late Remus of the Woodpile Report, “Stay away from crowds.” I would add, stay far away from any city greater than 12,000 people if you can
I wish you and your wife the best of luck. I will say a prayer for you asking God to grant you the wisdom to make the right choice of where to go.
Nice synopses. Florida is not as red as everyone makes it out to be. De Santis isn’t going to be governor forever. Let’s be honest, it’s only an election or two from blue.
One thousand carpet bagging useless idiots move here every day and the stupid liberal SOBs almost gave us Andrew Gillium (ex-mayor of Tallahassee) a faggot for Governor. He was caught naked and stoned with some guy in a Miami hotel.
