Hump Day Tuneage

by the subway philosopher™

On occasion, celebrating the midweek hump with a meticulously curated selection of the most disrespectful, impolite, disgraceful, badass, head-banging, disturbing, irreverent, rebellious, or most enjoyable rock n roll of its time feels like a perfectly responsible thing to do, for some reason. Or no reason at all. Crank it up!

Say what? “More than any ideology, more than any religion, more than Vietnam or any war or nuclear bomb, the single most important reason for the diffusion of the Cold War was … the Beatles.” – Mikhail Gorbachev (h/t RF).  An extended edition of HDT in tribute to the Fab Four.

Peace and love, people. The Beatles – Revolution

But you’re still fuckin’ peasants.  John Lennon – Working Class Hero

More popular than Jesus. George Harrison – All Those Years Ago

Got to pay your dues. Ringo Starr – It Don’t Come Easy

That sweet stuff. Paul McCartney – Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five

At your own risk. The Beatles – Why Don’t We Do It in the Road?

The first metal tune (1968). The Beatles – Helter Skelter

Hmmmmm…..,a Beatles theme, well, not the Beatles but here is Cru covering Helter Skelter:

Here is a song I heard a few days ago, been awhile,Otis and “Dock Of The Bay” ,a great song!

In the vein of covers, here are the boys of Shindown covering a few verses of this classic, feel the boys partying a bit that night!

A band that can crank out head banging/foot stomping music like “Sound Of Madness” and then cover a soulful song like this while perhaps does not make one a great band but at least a damn good band!

I wonder what The Beatles would have said about this. Thanks for sharing.
