A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Crisis In The Danish Radio Big Band
Today, I want to revisit the DR Big Band, but with a focus on the conductor Miho Hazama.
I started listening to their music in early 2021. At the time, I did not realize that they had gone through a crisis…
Best to let Saxophone player Hans Ulrik and trombone player Jakob Munck explain the serious crisis.
The Welcome
Satisfied that their problems were in the past, the band gave Miho a warm welcome at the Copenhagen Airport.
Miho Hazama and DR Big Band Live
In March 2019, The Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR) aired a concert entitled ”P8 Jazz Alive” performed by various artists and The Danish Radio Big Band conducted by Miho Hazama. The concert was hosted by Master Fatman. Jazz is the codeword for the concert. The concept of the concert is to let musicians, who has never played together before, meet and play in new constellations.
P8 Jazz Alive 2019 is an original production by DR P8 Jazz, The Danish Radio Big Band and various artists performed and recorded in DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark.
I’ll end this with a video of Miho hard at work.
Thanks for lending an ear. Have a great Sunday.

The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
Heaven help us…
And now for something slightly different:
Do you know Rachelle Ferrell?
If Yes, skip to the second video.
If NO, I recommend to listen/watch this first as an introduction,
after you switched to English subtitles (click on gear symbol, then change “Untertitel” to English):
Note: that other guy is a singing teacher.
– – –
I had first heard Rachelle in 1999 live at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland).
Afterwards I walked out in a daze – all my comparison scales were overshot.
Original to the above:
Happy 2nd Sunday of Advent!
This is beautiful.
Thanks for that “M”
We’ll use it and credit you for it on January 16th.
Thank you for Paganini, Hauser, the history of Miho, and Haydn. Happy Sunday and hope to see you next week!
THANKS MUCH again sirs for all your work and selections.
Worth repeating again and again that the symphony orchestra is truly a marvelous creation with all the manufacturing of the instruments, the many thousands of hours of practicing and learning by the musicians, and the integration of all the old masters genius works, in usually a fabulous setting.
Here is another very well done performance of a well known piece that will sooth the mind body and soul.
As always we thank you ursel.
We’ll use this one too on January 16th.
Speaking of the manufacturing of instruments, this is interesting.
