Not sure why we even worry about Hollywood celebrity types, but they often “open mouth and insert foot” almost every day. Whoopi Goldberg recently on “The View” made some horrendous antisemitic remarks. There are calls that she should be canceled. Others feel she should get a pass. Thoughts turn to others that have fallen into the same situation. A few years back, Roseanne Barr is one that comes to mind.
Let’s make a little comparison and see how these two stories differ.
The Roseanne Barr story:
CNBC – ABC announced on Tuesday that it would cancel the hit sitcom “Roseanne” following “abhorrent” comments from the show’s star, Roseanne Barr, who had compared former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett to an ape.
Just an hour later, Barr’s talent agency ICM Partners dropped her as a client, the firm confirmed to CNBC. Barr’s swift downfall comes after a year of successes, including record ratings for her show’s debut and a congratulatory call from the president.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, said in a statement Tuesday. In a since-deleted tweet, Barr said of Jarrett: “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes had a baby=vj.” The offensive Tweet is below.
Critics immediately slammed Barr’s remark as racist. Likening black people to apes is an attack commonly used by racists. The Muslim Brotherhood, meanwhile, is an Islamist political group. Barr had apologized for her comments earlier in the day and said she would be refraining from using her Twitter account, which was still live at the time of publication. The apology Tweet is below.

The former star of ‘Roseanne’ apologized for her tweet about the former Obama adviser. And then what was touted as a weak apology said, “Plus, I’d tell her she needs to get a new haircut.”
The Whoopi Goldberg story:
FOX: “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended following her controversial remarks about the Holocaust. See the ABC announcement below.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” ABC News president Kim Godwin said in a statement Tuesday evening. “While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.” See below Goldberg’s remarks.
Goldberg attempted to explain her remarks during her appearance on “The Late Show.” “It upset a lot of people which was never, ever, ever, ever my intention… I thought we were having a discussion,” Goldberg told Stephen Colbert. “I think of race as being something that I can see … “You couldn’t tell who was Jewish. They had to delve deeply to figure it out … My point is, they had to do the work.” She also told Colbert, “I don’t want to fake apologize … I’m very upset that people misunderstood what I was saying.” See Goldberg comments on “The Late Show.”
Before the pre-taped interview aired on CBS, Goldberg issued an apology. “On today’s show, I said the Holocaust’ is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both,” Goldberg wrote in a statement. “As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people – who they deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected.”
The final outcome of Goldberg’s status with ABC may be yet to come.
The hypocrisy.
It is interesting that both of these cases involved the same entertainment company ABC. One could go into the sincerities of the apologies from these celebrities and debate which gave the more credible one. However, it must be said that Goldberg didn’t really apologize, rather merely stated, “I stand corrected,” and rationalized her comments on the “The Late Show.” Roseanne Barr wished to not have her comments defended and said, “it was an “egregious indefensible” comment.
In terms of the outrageous comments of the celebrities, Roseanne Barr indeed made a comedic racial slur. However, Goldberg’s comments were particularly egregious. Goldberg was dabbling at being an Holucoust Apologist. Goldberg suggested that real “racism” is about the color of skin – “I think of race as being something that I can see …”. It was if Goldberg was saying that, when Hitler killed Jews in WWII, it was merely “Whites killing Whites.” When Golberg said that it’s “about man’s man’s inhumanity to man …” her comments suggest that “man’s inhumanity to man” applies only to her own race.
ABC’s reactions to these two events are probably the most egregious. Roseanne Barr gets immediately fired for her comments. For now, Goldberg gets a slap on the wrist for her comments with only a two-week suspension.
Roseanne Barr went on Jimmy Fallon’s show and declared she voted for Trump: Fallon is the one who brought up Roseanne being a Trump supporter.
“Oh yeah, people are mad about that,” she said, deadpanning, “but, you know, I don’t give a f**k.”
Whoopi Goldberg has openly campaigned for Obama, Clinton, and Biden. She has attacked Trump and his supporters consistently.
The stench of ABC’s hypocrisy is absurd. This is not to say one needs to play into the “Cancel Culture” of our time, rather the stark difference in outcomes when you lean Left in your political views in entertainment or the mainstream media – one gets a pass and can say or do anything you want. These two stories demonstrate this clearly.

Roseanne did not get canceled out, and Whoopi never would have anyway because she/it is a protected species (just like Roseanne). Both these women can say anything they want, for their words are not their own.
And they both followed their scripts. One was to stir up racial division, by a Zionist woman masquerading as White; the other, to cast men in a negative light (notice she only said “man’s inhumanity to man,” a subtlety for her dyke audience) and to once again bring out the Holocaust Saga.™ Again, old jokes told in different ways.
