Thanks HSF for this explanation. In a way, the fall of the USSR caused this change in Russian strategy. Typically a countries strategy is based on the last successful war they ran. Since the current Russian generals dont have the WW2 history, they went back to basic strategy. Take over the political leadership and you own the country. That is how wars were waged for most of history.If this works, there will be a major change in military strategy. Thanks

Any evidence of such a threat? I’m not a fan of expanding NATO (or the recent expansions), but at present Ukraine poses no threat to Russia unless there is some military capability that is not being used in the current shooting war.
