Childhood’s End

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

The phoniest trope in American life goes like this: We must find the cause of X so that it never happens again. Of course, it will happen again. We only pretend that the cause is a mystery. Let’s count the ways that school massacres happen.

American schools are fantastically depressing places. They are designed to look like medium security prisons and insecticide factories. They send the message: Enter here and be psychologically brutalized. They are too big, overwhelmingly alienating, ugly, devoid of visible symbolism signaling the value of being human. The interiors of the schools are designed for the convenience of janitors, hard surfaces of tile and linoleum that can be hosed down easily like the quarters of zoo animals. Children act accordingly.

The “facilities,” as we call them, are deployed in the illegible landscape of a demolition derby, separated from all the other activities of daily life, which themselves have reached a culminating state of meaninglessness: big box shopping, national chain franchise food installations, strip malls of empty storefronts, parking lot wastelands, nothing that will excite a child’s imagination with emotions other than bewilderment, anxiety, and aversion.

The “teaching” that supposedly goes on in schools is a broken remnant of preparation for an economy that no longer exists. We’re no longer a society of people who do things, but rather a society of people to whom things are done, many of them harmful, humiliating, and arbitrary. America’s demoralized teaching corps is so unhinged by their own anomie that they resort to imposing sadistic fantasies on the children in their charge.

Thus, all the inappropriate curricula around adult preoccupations with sex, such as the Drag Queen Story Hour, for which mentally ill men are invited to act-out impersonations of women-as-monsters for young people who can’t possibly be expected to make sense of the spectacle. (I suspect that even six-year-olds, hard-wired to function as successful animals in this world, understand it as some kind of affront to reality.) Otherwise, American teachers are out of ideas, and are themselves damaged by the same forces in culture that they are now asked to direct.

America has become a malfunctioning pageant without feasible roles that children can realistically project themselves into. What ten-year-old longs to become the Burger King fry-o-later boss in a brown apron and an asinine cardboard crown? Rather, they are prompted to aspire to become sports star millionaires, of which there are perhaps fewer than 5,000 positions in a land of 340-million. By age twelve, they probably comprehend the unlikelihood of that outcome, or of becoming the next Kardashian… or Spiderman. (Superheroes are supplied by the entertainment cartels to occupy the imaginative realm of children because American culture is bereft of reality-based roles worth aspiring to.)

In this tumult of cultural impoverishment, psychotic grandiosity creeps in. Be big if you can’t be anything else. Hence, one achievable role for young persons in American life is mass murderer. It is a way of becoming important, of having an effect on other people and society in general. Your name may be forgotten, but the act itself will endure in the collective memory of a people. It will be some kind of a mark in history, even better remembered, perhaps, than whoever played third-base for the Atlanta Braves in 1994… or the woman who once capered down the red carpet at the Oscars in a dress fashioned on a slaughtered swan.

The mayhem unleashed in a school shooting is just the rectified essence of the manifold derangements in our national life. Everything is out-of-whack, including our perception of what’s going on and what it means. There is almost nothing left of childhood in this land, in the way of young, unformed creatures assisted by adults who love them into a future worth being part of. We have forgotten how to be grateful for being in this world at all, leaving us unworthy of being here. The quality of virtue, meaning that some things and some doings are recognizably better than others was deceitfully replaced by the equity of nothing being allowed to be better than anything else. Truth and beauty have gone outlaw. Bad faith and wickedness rule, led by the Party of Chaos. So, really, what do you expect? And what do you deserve?

We won’t have a country left to pay the pensions at the rate we’re going. Saw the sobbing illegal alien mother this morning saying, in Spanish by the way, “he must have had his reasons.”

After hearing Tucker Carlson relating the actual facts on last night’s show, such as is known at present, the only logical conclusion one can make is that this was a black op designed by “your” government to take our guns. Such is their depravity and evil that 19 precious little children were massacred on purpose to achieve a political end. This is the evil we face.

Sensible people have and will continue to abandon public (read; government) schools. They are gross, dangerous and have very little to do with an education of any value.

I think you very well be correct, CC. I’ve considered the same thing, but from a slightly expanded perspective.

What, exactly, was the upcoming disinformation that so urgently required a Ministry of Truth to control the narrative?

1. Ukraine is losing the war, always has been and that needed to be revised out of US memory holes before anyone grasps that 54 billion plus has been poured into a toilet full of CongressCritter shit.

2. Hunter Biden’s sleazy business dealings and their connection to the then VP of the US now POTUS, aka FJB, are becoming obvious to even the lapdog pundits of the MSM. That was going to need to be spun to avoid showing John Kerry’s stepson’s involvement along with dozens of other CongressCritters in on the deal.

3. The connection between RussiaGate and the current war in Ukraine intersects with Hillary Clinton’s direct involvement in the 2014 coup in Ukraine when she and Biden installed the corrupt government which led to the election of an actor, who appointed his own production crew as his cabinet. Hillary’s crimes extend way back into Arkansas, where she learned early the best way to cover up for political corruption is before anyone knows about it.

If this is a government sponsored/caused false flag intended to excuse another assault on constitutional liberties, it is also intended to distract from the human catastrophe hobbling out to read his drug-inspired outrage from the teleprompter. Our government has gone rogue and there is no limit to what they will do to control all power.

I believe they will fail, but they do not mind taking innocent children’s lives to achieve their goals.

What could be worse? Is your baby in day care?

It’s not like this is Mayberry where everything is 1950’s perfect. Just a couple of years back this town avoided a Columbine style attack planned by two students. Unlocked doors, no cop? In the 12 minutes time between crashing his truck and entering the school, he shot at two people across the street at a funeral home. He then stood outside shooting at the outside wall of the school.
Where were the cops? Were they tied up dealing with Dementia Joe’s border policy? Uvalde has literally been overrun with the border crashers and like all the border towns, forced to pay the bill for foreign invaders. FJB! F Mitch McConnell and Cornyn. Cocaine Mitch with the Chicom bitch is wanting to show how the Evil party and Stupid party can still get together and do something evil and stupid. Take away our rights because of government failing to perform its function and protect society. Who needs MAGA with these awesome limp dicks taking charge? BARF!

I wonder if some concerned citizen had seen him there shooting at the school, grabbed their own weapon and shot him, would that concerned citizen be facing murder charges now?

My guess is that the concerned citizen would have been executed immediately by the first cops on the scene. The media would have switched villains, making the concerned citizen the school shooter.

At this point and without an EXACT TIME LINE I agree with you 100%.

Spent most of my adult life doing bullet point time line investigations for a host of minor and serious investigations.

WHERE IS THE EXACT TIME LINE???

(All these agencies are getting their stories straight and looking for the lowest level fall guy).

I’m hopeful that when the Dow really tanks, there will be some change. But, that’s doubtful. The only change that I’m sure of is that it’ll be weird to see perhaps 25K fans at an Ohio State (or Alabama, for that matter) football game.

Once again and just another example of The Great American Freak show. My guess the majority of children like their parents are addicted to tech ,glued to their I-phone or PC for most forms of gratification. What happened to the childhood of playing in mud puddles, neighborhood softball games, swimming or fishing in the local water hole?
Look around how often to you see children outside playing? My observation is rarely, the youth have become couch potato’s which along with being tech addicts leads to obesity at a younger and younger age. Seems any sport activity has to be at a sanctioned location and supervised. It didn’t used to be like that, we improvised ball games, hockey during the Winter. Minimal equipment no adult supervision.
The garbage sold as entertainment leads to the violence and detachment from reality with the action of killing a living creature. As kids we routinely witnessed death while using our BB guns on frogs and small birds. Observing the death of a small animal may seem cruel but we all learned from that action. My guess the ‘killer/shooter’ in the latest school tragedy probably lived in the video game world of no actions for consequences.
The Freak Show goes on……………………….

Spot on, Nevada.

The video game culture in conjunction with violent films and “music” are major contributors to the death cult.

The landscape JHK so perfectly describes only helps to energize the latent murderers being trained and groomed.

Look, too, to the demographics in these United States today vs. in the ’40s and ’50s … when English was pretty much the only language, everywhere — there was no D I E agenda … and folks with severe mental issues (today’s lgbtqrstuvwxyz folks) were still in the ‘closet’ where they belong instead of corrupting and corroding every institution they can … BLM was the Bureau of Land Management, not hyper-neurotic White whiners and virtue signalers … and our borders were still at least somewhat secured …

I recently interviewed five candidates for an entry-level office position related to the construction industry. Three were high school graduates from public California high schools. One had completed some college courses, one was a college graduate. I asked each of them to solve the following math problem:

4 1/4 + 2 1/16

The high school grads were completely perplexed by this problem. I submit this to you as evidence of the failure of public education in this state. I was also educated in public schools in California, and I mastered the addition of mixed fractions in Mr. Gist’s fifth grade class. But that was long ago in another galaxy.

The college grad was able to solve the problem with a long and torturous set of calculations. The partial-college candidate offered that she knew how to solve the problem because she had taken a physics class.

Just more of the American freak show that Admin laments. We are so screwed.

I attended a Jesuit high school in Cleveland that was started in 1886 … and this is still one of the main classroom buildings there … it’s about 125 years old …

The education was second-to-none … it was a great gift to attend there … and even today, though it’s bought into the whole D I E train wreck, it’s known for its academic excellence and its sports prowess …

Not exactly on point, but I just read a study out of England which stated that more adventurous children have better mental health. Being “adventurous” was defined as activities like riding a bike, climbing a tree, or walking in the woods alone, without parental supervision! My first reaction was, I’m not surprised at all. My second reaction was being slightly depressed that activities common in my youth would be considered anything but normal childhood play. In my opinion, parents should not be more involved with their kids’ life, but less. In the long wrong, just throwing their kids out and telling them to go play until lunch time is more effective parenting than arranging play dates or dragging them on some trip for their cultural edification.

Explain how these seriously mentally ill psychopathic people make it through 12 years of government school without any of these so called trained professionals noticing that these people have serious issues? Do you think it may be a good idea to begin to screen school kids for psychopathic tendencies? No, that would make sense, and the last thing in the word any government institution will ever do is what would make sense.

Even in the 1950s schools were regimented and boring. However, the school had a decent library, ant the town’s public library was great.Between that and my grandmother’s old fashioned organic garden,i learned a lot.Far more than i did in class. P.S. The school’s ancient lady librarian was a pack rat.She curated a complete set of the old 1840’s McGuffey Reader. Much to her delight,i literally wore them out.She considered them rare, but not precious.
