The TGOD weekly presentation is probably the best feature of TBP these days. It certainly serves to provide an antidote to the depression I regularly suffer thanks to the tsunami of news that is incomprehensible to anyone with a functioning and logical brain. Kudos Mrs. Admin, thanks for your efforts.

I was walking last night and thought of the old Dylan song “Señor” from Street Legal in ’78 – when he was getting religion:

Señor, señor
Let’s overturn these tables
Disconnect these cables
This place don’t make sense to me no more
Can you tell me what we’re waiting for, señor?

Did anyone ever make flame throwers with this and a match?
Great fun.

Home Depot has a rack with damaged lumber that is 90% off. Any time I see any cedar, I always pick it up to use for “projects”.

I have a picture of my Granddad, cousin and me building a tree house at his house. He was probably late 60’s, overweight and walked with a cane, but was up in that tree with his 2 grandsons helping them build a fort overlooking the street. Lots of hours spent up in that tree.

We added carpet samples to give it that plush, luxurious atmosphere. Being in MN, we always had stoves in our forts & tree houses. Sometimes an old stove from a fish house, sometimes one that we made out of an old 3 gallon paint can. We didn’t worry about toxins in the ’70’s. We always put the stoves on top of a sheet of asbestos. Good luck to a kid finding a sheet of asbestos these days. I was usually just interested in cooking hot dogs and maybe some Dinty Moore beef stew (talk about “living the dream”), but some of my friends’ lairs grew into the kind of pad that made 12-13 year old girls take their shirts off. Just to be clear, we were 13-14 years old, not 28. Sort of like this:

We built an “attic” inside of our garage, which started out as a single door across the rafters LOL. We added carpet samples, eventually covering a wall to wall floor. After that, my brother made a hatch in the garage roof so that you could enter two ways, from a ladder inside, or if the garage was locked you could climb the tree and still get in. Best fort ever!

Wish i woulda known about the stove tricks. Did have the good fortune to live 3+ yrs. in a subdivision. 14 homes when we moved in, 72 and counting, when we left.

The best one was three stories with a deck on top. Learned a variation of “A Christmas Story’ …

Teetering on a site-built ladder, put the padlock between my lips while i worked the bolt. Craftsmanship/alignment efforts in their infancy. Blood Everywhere when i panicked and ripped the lock loose, coulda fallen and hurt myself. In retrospect, I definitely deserved some punishment. God more than made up for it. Later. Several times. Think i’ve learned my lessons. Mostly.

NO SHORTAGE of raw materials, including insulation, windows, etc. Grass Seed for the yard.

Use to watch the tradesmen by day. Soon as they left, shopping time!

Eventually, they quit leaving ANY KIND of hand tools on site. All they had to do was ask…All hung neatly. In our basement.

Even after the doors were installed, the key was ALWAYS under something within 1 or 2 steps of the door. Some people never learn.

“Father, i know that i have broken Your Laws and my Sins have seperated me from You…”

You’re fortunate that you weren’t arrested for debauchery with those innocent 12-13 year-old girls.

Same here in the woods and in the rafters of the garage. We’d play war in the woods with BB guns, wrist rockets, and fireworks. Many injuries, but many more great memories. Especially once we found the neighbor’s huge stash of Oui, Penthouse, and Gallery magazines.

Never liked the Karate Wuss. He only “won” due to “rules” but in a real fight, he’d have been slaughtered a hundred times over. He was a total wimp.

Thank you… hugely appreciated for the effort put in and memories restored…

Miss Body and Fender! I recall hearing that Nasty Pelousy was a pin up once. I can’t remember what it was, but it must have been Miss Hubcap, Miss Gas Cap, or maybe it was Miss Exhaust Pipe.

when I was a kid, behind our suburban house was miles of wilderness to explore

there was an abandoned military outpost overlooking the Pacific Ocean with bunkers to crawl into

berry patches, wild flowers galore to collect for mom, creeks to wade in, hills to climb

one special area was a bamboo forest, we built trails and dug traps in it – to capture the other enemy kids in the neighborhood

I knew I was lucky then, but I didn’t know how much

I “relate” to the pics although I was never a big Elvis fan. He had some good tunes. I only never understood the females screaming over him. My opinion.

The Bellamy Brothers, maybe peeps did not “understand them”, does not matter, I liked their tunes yet never bought a single album. Ok, I’m “cheap”. Never saw the bros in concert, yet on free FM radio listened to them often. Thank God for “free”. 🙂

Vietnam sort of resonated among peeps my age , whether one served in that fiasco or not. I was never one that would degrade the Vets that returned, always to this day except sometimes I think , “the world owes me” types among Vets is government driven. Tears in my eyes however and I’m not a “pussy”, my kin folk , never to be “recognized” again after that fiasco , and extremely sad to me, family that disowned my cousin returning from that “war protecting freedom”. God forgive, I know God does that. We “have” to live with this. Any answers?

What our (US) government has done to so many…assholes!

Anyway, Old Hippie. If you don’t like it, smoaky.com. , political forum, FUCK YOU, idiots, State of Israel, John Hagee , Robert Jeffress , US Embassy in Jerusalem, East Texas IDIOTS! For the Trump retards, how many State of Israel peeps occupied a fox hole with US blood during Vietnam? Rant? I do not apologize those times are so disgusting!

Not to be “vulgar” , I really like that scene of the gal pumping gas. Geez,,,I relate…”we” were mostly “thin” , “back then” even. lol

He ain’t tryin’ to change nobody…
