Huh,what came out in 1974 that I really liked, hmmmmmmm…….,wait for it!
My favorite album by me favorite band(any guesses?):
james,
is there any truth to the really, really strong rumor that ian anderson is a trannie?
Hmmmm……,antagonizing prepper cat is not a good idea!
I’ve been listening to pop music since the mid sixties, but only last month realized that “Love Hurts” by Nazareth is a cover version that was done previously by the Everly Brothers, after seeing & hearing a You Boob music vid version of the brothers.
Nazareth does it better, IMO, tho.
Hair Of The Dog a great album,me favorite from them:
How about Now You’re Messin’ With…
and
Holiday?
Fallen angel was good too.
Not sure, but this one might qualify as a One Hit Wonder.
Do you know what I mean?
Listen for the pause, and the “Hooo!” at the 1:40 mark.

Al’s drummer had the best high hat sound. Thick and chicky.
1974 was a very good year in music
Streaking showed that there was still a sense of humor in society back then. I was at a horse show (Lipazzaner Stallions I think) as a kid with my parents and someone jumped over the wall from the audience and streaked the show. Not sure if he missed all the horse shit or not.
How about this one from The Carpenters in 1974.
“The Carpenters – Jambalaya (On The Bayou) (Live in 1974)”
Live! Exclusive live performance by The Carpenters (Richard & Karen Carpenter) and band at the ‘Grand Gala du Disque’, 15 February 1974 in the RAI Congres Building, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
This song ‘Jambalaya (On the Bayou)’ by Hank Williams was recorded live at the Grand Gala du Disque.
First year of MBA school was 1974. In Tuscaloosa. “Sweet Home” was played 5-6X/hr. on every dive bar jukebox.
i’ve watched a few of the vids from Skynyrd at the Oakland Coliseum and am blown away by how it is basically whites. Shit I doubt there are a coliseum full of whites still living there in total
Blacks have a tendency to stay away from big crowds of whites at concerts, especially after Altamont in 1969, very strange times for sure. The Rolling Stones made a movie about it called Gimme Shelter.
Rolling Stone paper had a good story, where they asked the question:
‘That’s a real question there: why 300,000 – well 299,900 – people would allow themselves to be dominated by a hundred Angels?’

The answer was Sonny Barger , who just died about four days ago.
On youtube are some good videos of the ruckus.
Sonny’s “autobiography” is a must read. As we “know”, no colors at Daytona. Sonny’s wearing HA colors. Bicycle cop, yes, a bicycle cop asks him to comply. Sonny hands him his ID and tells him to ask his superior about that…
Bike cop seconds later, “Sorry, Mr Barger, to inconvenience you. I was just following orders. Honored to meet you, and I’m sorry.”
I’m going to check that out. Sonny Barger and the Hell’s Angels, the Electric Kool-aid Test, Charles Manson, Abby Hoffman, all that stuff was happening at the same time, just a whole lot of energy going on, nothing today compares to it.
Hell’s Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs by Hunter S. Thompson is another great book. They end up beating the crap out of Thompson. But they were unpredictable. A bunch of the Gypsy Jokers moved down into my neck of the woods right after several were killed by the Hell’s Angels in Charlotte NC back in the 1980s. I picked up a couple of members kids up on the church van I drove on Wednesday nights.
Also Sonny died back in June, missed the date by about a month but I had honestly thought he died years ago.
There isn’t. I know.. I’m an Oakland Athletics fan and we go there once or twice to a game during the season. We live in the East Bay. We have Oakland. Total shithole. Won’t go there unless I’m armed. Same for San Francisco. Bigger shithole. Wish it wasn’t. Love the restaurants and bars. Won’t step foot there unless I have to.
Sound familiar
What a mind fuck to hear that in 1974. Kraftwerk is my favorite band. I was too young to figure that shit out. Born in ’69.
Oh yeah. Thanks
