Stucky QOTD: Near Death Experiences

Folks gave 10 upvotes to my inquiry as to whether or not I should submit an NDE question of the day.

A Lawyer Presents the Evidence for the Afterlife - Kindle edition by Zammit, Victor, Zammit, Wendy. Religion & Spirituality Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

Oddly enough (not kidding) my mom asked me last night whether or not I believe in life after death.  She did so because she’s reading the book pictured which I gave her a few months ago.  Each of the 20+ chapters offers unique evidence that consciousness survives death … including a chapter on NDE.  (FYI, I do believe in an afterlife, and my mother does not …. “when you die, you die, and that’s it“, she says …. and this does not bother her at all in terms of fearing death.  In fact, she prays for it every day. Although I’m not sure to WHOM she is praying. )

I didn’t give her a very long answer.  First, it was late at night and I was really tired. Second, I wasn’t in the mood to SCREAM out an answer (her hearing is quite diminished).  She does love to read, though.  She doesn’t have much formal education but, she’s quite smart and old age has blessed her with wisdom. So, whatever answers you give, pro or con, you will spread your seed of knowledge/beliefs to her, for she will certainly read every comment … and maybe it will make a difference to her, as well as others.  (Do NOT let that affect your answer! Let honesty rule supreme.)

Let’s keep this simple;  by “life after death” I simply mean that your unique consciousness, and your memories, continue after your heart stops beating, and your brain synapses stop firing.

Q1:  Is it possible to have ACTUAL PROOF about life continuing after death?

Q2:  Are Near Death Experiences Reasonable Evidence that there is life after death?

Q3:  Do you have a NDE you can share?   (If not, who is the bigger A-hole in the upcoming Tom Brady vs  Gisele Bundchen divorce?)

===================== =

Me?

I am going to give my answer later this evening, or tomorrow. I don’t want to influence any answers … IF that’s even possible.

I don’t think you can have actual proof of it. All we have are stories from other people or personal experiences and we choose to believe them or we don’t.

This video resonates with me personally.

You (an individual) can have proof, but that proof can’t be convincing to a further person. Example: a recently dead person could write a note on today’s newspaper referencing something known only to the dead person. Even a personal apparition conveying hidden knowledge could be convincing to the person who’d seen the apparition, but that’s where the convincing would end.

This comes to mind (Luke 16:31)
“Then Abraham said ‘if they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead’.”

Exactly where that borderline is between evidence and proof is one of the recurring details of almost every eternal question there is. One man’s proof is another man’s evidence, is another man’s anecdote, is another man’s mere rumor. I rarely even use the word “proof” if there is any way around it. “Evidence” is a much more easily defined thing. I think that “beyond reasonable doubt” is as close to proof as we ever see in this world.

Resonates well.
Could nit pick parts of it, but won’t.

Who was it, that said:
“Do not worry. Do not be afraid. Love one another, as I have loved you. In my Father’s kingdom, there are many places. I am not of this world, where you will always have troubles. I go before you to my Father, to prepare a place before you. In Me, you have Peace. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. A beacon of Light, so you will not stumble in the darkness. In my absence, I will send the Paraclete, to guide you, and instruct you on the way to go. Trust in Me.”

Segue to the posted topic, no NDE for me personally, but I do find it interesting, that shortly after losing an elderly part of our families, we often get blessed with a younger team of relatives who almost immediately afterward announce the conception of a new being, by way of pregnancy, to add a new member to the family, as a way to fill the void of losing the elderly one(s).
Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Might be a stretch to label it as reincarnation, but there’s something to it.
The Source gives, and the Source taketh away.

Perhaps after the earthly vehicle is no longer being used by the spiritual entity, the spirit does
indeed go / become a part of another realm, far more blissful, and yet incomprehensible to those bodies still wandering around the physical domain. Some have labeled it as our souls. The core of who we are.

The mystery of faith. Unseen benefits, with no definitive proof of suchness.
I choose to Believe in such.

Tim Tebow? Nice guy, but he couldn’t hit the water if he fell out of a boat as an NFL passing QB.
I actually hate Tiger Woods more than Tom Brady and I can’t fucking stand Brady…cries like a little girl when somebody even touches him.
I would love to see one of his legs get bent backwards and his foot end up in his mouth, maybe he would retire after that.
ON topic: Two months ago my brother in law died (cancer). He had a daughter from a previous marriage that has downs syndrome and lives in a fulltime care facility.
The place where she lives called the morning after he died and said she wanted to talk to me and my wife.
She asked us why her dad went to go be with grandma and grandpa.
She had zero knowledge he had died the night before and didn’t know he had cancer.
I don’t know how to explain that.

Some research for you AA. Just terrible people, right?

Moynahan dated Tom Brady from 2004 until December 14, 2006.

Tom and Giselle were introduced by friends, with the NFL quarterback, 45, and the former supermodel, 42, tying the knot in 2009.

February 18, 2007: Moynahan announced she was pregnant with Brady’s child.

Although Brady was in a relationship when he first met Bündchen, they both seemed to know their connection was something special. Shortly after meeting the model, Brady broke up with his then-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan. They met in December 2006 and began dating in Feb 2007.

And Bündchen has said she knew it was love at first sight.

“I knew right way — the first time I saw him,” she told Vanity Fair in 2009. “We met through a friend. The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, ‘That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!'”

Monday morning you sure look fine

Yes NDE’S are real, and have been written about for thousands of years. Many of the books talk about hearing the exact conversation the doctor and nurses had while they died. I have been reading about NDE’s for about 50 years. It always fascinated me, and I talked to one veteran who die like 5 times. He awoke in the body bag once. The mystical out of body experience and the NDE is one and the same. I have had many of those as I practice Eckankar, once referred to as the ancient science of Soul Travel. The most common out of body experience happens when you dream, and then become aware in your dreams. You have truly not lived unless you have been out of your body at least once and visited the spiritual planes. This is the Many Mansions that Jesus talked about. Jesus was an adept at out of body travel, and he could even appear in two places in the physical at one time. Padre Pio, a catholic saint, was adept at this and of course many others, but mostly the Vairagi adepts of Eckankar are the teachers of this. Once you have crossed the boarders of death and return. You life will never be the same as you know that physical death is really the start of life. Jesus definitely said something about that. I could write about about out of body travel and NDE’s for a week. But I’ll leave it at that.

Here is how life after death and reincarnation was proved to me. I had a very vivid dream of going off to WWII with a good friend after we graduated high school. My friends parents were very rich, and bought him a beautiful car. When I told the dream to my twin brother. He finished the story. It was a purple convertible. I was, purple convertibles WWII, can’t be real. Yes, Purple vehicles were very common when I looked it up. I have had many other dreams since then. I was parachuting, shot , and interrogated in a hospital. How fun. I knew when the nurse left the interrogating would really begin.
Brother Joe confims other dreams . We grew up in the Flatbush area of New York city, and yes we both died during WWII. But we had some awesome trips in that beautiful car.

The experiences are consistent in yes there are many different heavens. Since God created all things, and we are all made in Gods image. We all have that spark of God called Soul. God only communicates with Soul via the holy spirit. Jesus is one of the manifestation of the holy spirit. Buddha was another, and yes there are many more. Most people who have had an NDE experience mention the spiritual Light and some also the sound. Light and Sound is what takes us home to God. We use this to have the mystical out of body experience. The sound, word, guides us, and the light is to see the obstacles. We connect to this light and sound by singing, chanting, the holy names of God. Yes we can chant God. But other words are more powerful. Here is a list of the words: Kala, Mana, Ohm, Baju, Sugmad, Shanti, Hum, Aluk, Huka, HU. These are the spiritual planes that match the words: astral, causal, mental, etheric, Soul Plane, etc… The Soul plane and above are referred to as the true God worlds, the home of Soul. This is the Kingdom of heaven and the many mansions Jesus talked about. Jesus said to seek yea first the kingdom of heaven. What was he saying. We should all strive to reach the higher consciousness while alive. This is what all spirtual works are really about.

I am of the belief that no two people ever see the exact same thing in the same way; ask any LEO who’s ever had the pleasure of interviewing witnesses about an accident: the color of the hit-and-run car can range from pink to black.
I believe people see things filtered through their own experiences: the rose-colored glasses effect.
So yes! Everyone does see Jesus/G-d, but just describes H*m as they’ve been taught to understand H*m and expect to see H*m.
Those who see nothing – well, the pit of Hell yawns black.

Now playing the back nine of life I do have a heightened interest in the subject. I have no such experience but can offer an interesting story. In my career, I spent a good part of it as a prison builder. On one such project, I was working “inside the wire” with a couple of inmates called trustees. One of the men was a quiet, respectful guy I came to like. Although against policy I asked him what he was in for. As a young man, he raped a girl who died in the process. At the moment of death, he felt a wave of electricity pass through him. He claimed it was the girl’s soul leaving the body. He became a devout believer and pastor of the prison chapel. He denied ever even asking for parole. He didn’t want that. He wanted to serve his life sentence as penitence and preach the gospel of Christ.

Your NDE question has perfect timing. I just read this short story a couple of days ago and I’ve been debating whether or not to post it on TBP.

The Egg

By: Andy Weir

You were on your way home when you died.

It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.

And that’s when you met me.

“What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?”

“You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.

“There was a… a truck and it was skidding…”

“Yup,” I said.

“I… I died?”

“Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said.

You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. “What is this place?” You asked. “Is this the afterlife?”

“More or less,” I said.

“Are you god?” You asked.

“Yup,” I replied. “I’m God.”

“My kids… my wife,” you said.

“What about them?”

“Will they be all right?”

“That’s what I like to see,” I said. “You just died and your main concern is for your family. That’s good stuff right there.”

You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didn’t look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.

“Don’t worry,” I said. “They’ll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didn’t have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If it’s any consolation, she’ll feel very guilty for feeling relieved.”

“Oh,” you said. “So what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?”

“Neither,” I said. “You’ll be reincarnated.”

“Ah,” you said. “So the Hindus were right,”

“All religions are right in their own way,” I said. “Walk with me.”

You followed along as we strode through the void. “Where are we going?”

“Nowhere in particular,” I said. “It’s just nice to walk while we talk.”

“So what’s the point, then?” You asked. “When I get reborn, I’ll just be a blank slate, right? A baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won’t matter.”

“Not so!” I said. “You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don’t remember them right now.”

I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. “Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly imagine. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. It’s like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it’s hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you’ve gained all the experiences it had.

“You’ve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven’t stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, you’d start remembering everything. But there’s no point to doing that between each life.”

“How many times have I been reincarnated, then?”

“Oh lots. Lots and lots. An in to lots of different lives.” I said. “This time around, you’ll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD.”

“Wait, what?” You stammered. “You’re sending me back in time?”

“Well, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I come from.”

“Where you come from?” You said.

“Oh sure,” I explained “I come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know you’ll want to know what it’s like there, but honestly you wouldn’t understand.”

“Oh,” you said, a little let down. “But wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point.”

“Sure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you don’t even know it’s happening.”

“So what’s the point of it all?”

“Seriously?” I asked. “Seriously? You’re asking me for the meaning of life? Isn’t that a little stereotypical?”

“Well it’s a reasonable question,” you persisted.

I looked you in the eye. “The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature.”

“You mean mankind? You want us to mature?”

“No, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect.”

“Just me? What about everyone else?”

“There is no one else,” I said. “In this universe, there’s just you and me.”

You stared blankly at me. “But all the people on earth…”

“All you. Different incarnations of you.”

“Wait. I’m everyone!?”

“Now you’re getting it,” I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.

“I’m every human being who ever lived?”

“Or who will ever live, yes.”

“I’m Abraham Lincoln?”

“And you’re John Wilkes Booth, too,” I added.

“I’m Hitler?” You said, appalled.

“And you’re the millions he killed.”

“I’m Jesus?”

“And you’re everyone who followed him.”

You fell silent.

“Every time you victimized someone,” I said, “you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.”

You thought for a long time.

“Why?” You asked me. “Why do all this?”

“Because someday, you will become like me. Because that’s what you are. You’re one of my kind. You’re my child.”

“Whoa,” you said, incredulous. “You mean I’m a god?”

“No. Not yet. You’re a fetus. You’re still growing. Once you’ve lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born.”

“So the whole universe,” you said, “it’s just…”

“An egg.” I answered. “Now it’s time for you to move on to your next life.”

And I sent you on your way.

Many truths in the story. It reminder me that Soul is made in Gods image and Soul is a being of unlimited splendor.
I had three realizations of Reincarnation.
It’s a wonderful thing being born again.
I have been born thousands of times. It’s never ending.
Reincarnation sucks and is a from of punishment.
The true goal is Jivan Mukti. Being liberated from the cycle of reincarnation, and one day being a coworker with God.

I like the story too, Shep.
One possible explanation for why evil has not been completely abandoned.
Those with no belief in the positive source, who are attracted more to the negative forces, are also in a continual reincarnation cycle.
E.g., Jack the Ripper appears again, maybe forward as a psycho who shoots up a school, or maybe too, ventures backward in time as we know it, becoming a sadistic torturer in some earlier century in England…or a Roman guard in charge of flogging Christ, before nailing him to a cross.
Cycles. Always repetitious, until maturity, as mentioned in the story, breaks the cycle.
Conversely, the cycle of goodwill can be broken by those sorry souls who, governed by anger, revenge, and rage, courtesy of evil influences, cross over to the dark side in acts and spirit in defiance of the forces of good.
Yin and yang.
Good and evil.
Choose wisely, grasshoppers.

It’s also very similar to the scenario that Alan Watts describes, derived from Vedanta — basically that God has disguised himself as each human being. He describes this in “The Book: On the Taboo of Knowing Who You Are”.

Q1 and Q2 – According to physics and the first law of thermodynamics, the law of conservation of energy. “Energy can not be created nor destroyed only transferred”. If in fact our life force is energy, it can’t be destroyed by merely killing the body. It must be transferred. Transferred to where or to what would be the appropriate and more mind boggling question.

Q3-Tom Brady, he’s already won the lottery. Easy come, easy go.

Actual proof is when one dies.
NDE, imo, cannot be used as proof because the person is still alive.
No personal nde to type about but have, on a handful of occassions, had odd dreams of old friends only to find that they had very recently passed on.
Bottom line for me is you either believe or you don’t.

What is it that gives life and animation to the body you currently inhabit? Energy can never be destroyed. Just because the physical manifestation and physical body are no longer functioning, why would the energy that has chosen to manifest in this body not carry on in another form or incarnation? There is a many thousand year religious tradition that includes the testaments of hundreds of individuals who claim to have passed through the death experience (nirvakalpa samadhi) yet remained alive in a higher spiritual frame of reference and have taught from this new reference point of existence. I have no doubt whatsoever that there is the entire universe beyond this current incarnation, though my certainty of what lies beyond, likely does not align with that of most others…but I’m OK with that. I always looked at near-death experiences as a misnomer. Out of body experience is more akin to what I would term it.

Had an out of body experience when I was under water in the Colorado river right before my buddy plucked me out of the great beyond.

Whether or not that was my conscious preparing to transfer elsewehere had I died or my mind trying to extend what little time it perceived left is a great mystery to me 30 years later.

What I do believe unequivocally is that our minds can be trained to distort time and thought to conserve the physical body as a means of preservation for possible survival of a shit situation.

Then again it may just be a base instinctive brain reaction from the limbic system or divine intervention or fucken reptile aliens made of light saving our meat bag bodies. I am not sure I truly want to understand the dynamics of why or how regarding that.

Altered conscious states are strange and mythical like that. I know of men and know men, myself included that should not have survived certain events, yet here we remain.

Things like that can fuck with people not capable of moving beyond the inexplicable. Fortune smiles on people from time to time. True fortune that is.

ZFG, out.

P.S. it’s turtles all the way down.

P.P.S. Gisele is a twat and so is Tom. Aside from vanity and fanatical sports achievement, what have they done that even warrants giving two shits let alone one?

Yes there is definitely an afterlife and the NT is a good source but not infallible. Youtube has hundreds of good NDE testimonies; not all are Divine, some are Demonic deceptions. One story I believe is true was made into a movie “Heaven is Real” and one of many that offers sufficient proof for me. I know nothing about Brady but I heard she was crying; if so, he could be a cad; then cry about your mistake my lady but don’t desire a man who doesn’t love you.

You want a physicist to speak at your funeral. You want the physicist to talk to your grieving family about the conservation of energy, so they will understand that your energy has not died. You want the physicist to remind your sobbing mother about the first law of thermodynamics; that no energy gets created in the universe, and none is destroyed. You want your mother to know that all your energy, every vibration, every Btu of heat, every wave of every particle that was her beloved child remains with her in this world. You want the physicist to tell your weeping father that amid energies of the cosmos, you gave as good as you got.

And at one point you’d hope that the physicist would step down from the pulpit and walk to your brokenhearted spouse there in the pew and tell him that all the photons that ever bounced off your face, all the particles whose paths were interrupted by your smile, by the touch of your hair, hundreds of trillions of particles, have raced off like children, their ways forever changed by you. And as your widow rocks in the arms of a loving family, may the physicist let her know that all the photons that bounced from you were gathered in the particle detectors that are her eyes, that those photons created within her constellations of electromagnetically charged neurons whose energy will go on forever.

And the physicist will remind the congregation of how much of all our energy is given off as heat. There may be a few fanning themselves with their programs as he says it. And he will tell them that the warmth that flowed through you in life is still here, still part of all that we are, even as we who mourn continue the heat of our own lives.

And you’ll want the physicist to explain to those who loved you that they need not have faith; indeed, they should not have faith. Let them know that they can measure, that scientists have measured precisely the conservation of energy and found it accurate, verifiable and consistent across space and time. You can hope your family will examine the evidence and satisfy themselves that the science is sound and that they’ll be comforted to know your energy’s still around. According to the law of the conservation of energy, not a bit of you is gone; you’re just less orderly. Amen.

I tend to believe that the largest justification people convince or lie to themselves of to behave anyway they want to throughout their entire lives is that there is no ultimate individual judgement or heaven or hell.
Just death without consequence.
I think that is the most dangerous position anyone can have next to I’m an overall good person and God will judge on a curve and let me in.
Simply stated if I’m wrong no foul.
If they’re wrong eternal hell awaits them.

Stucky…your Mother and mine sound very much the same.

My question to my Mom is this– What if you’re wrong?
What if being a good person in your own eyes doesn’t cut it?
What then?

So many have ministered to my Mother and yet, she refuses to attribute the difference in their treatment of her to their relationship with a power higher than them.

Life after death does exist. I grew up in a haunted house and I and many of my family members experienced some very disturbing experiences. I believe these are spirits (maybe even demons) who did not want to face the consequences of their actions here on earth. They therefore won’t stand in judgement and prefer to stay here on earth.

Luke 11:24-26 ESV
“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.”

I also have seen and talked with spirits in what you may call dreams. They’re sorta like dreams but much more realistic. My interpretation of one experience I had was an encounter with a deceased person who was very abusive and selfish while living. He/she must of been suffering terribly in the place he/she was at and was given a chance to prove that I acted the same to him/her. God gave him/her a chance to prove it and he/she failed miserably. When that person had to go back to where they had to go the expression on their face was terrifyingly unnatural and horrific. I immediately woke up and said several prayers for him/her. It was so horrific that I have been trying to get right with God ever since. I had another engagement with the same person some time later. They were in a better place, although it wasn’t even remotely heavenly. Prayers do work as I have another example of seeing the results of praying.

I grew up in a rural town in one of those big ole northern homes. It had 3 stories and an attic. The house was struck by lightning twice. The second time it was struck it blew off every scrap of plaster (not plaster board, plaster) off the walls and ceiling in one of the rooms on the third floor. Big deal you say? Every scrap of plaster was piled neatly in the center of the room. After “things” started happening two separate priests were called on two separate occasions to cleans the house. I can still see the one going from room to room with incense and praying prayers. Something punched a whole into this realm. Regardless, neither of those priests were able to cleans the house.

My Mother-in-Law passed away suddenly when our children were very young. We gathered the children together the next morning, our oldest son, 4 years old at the time , told us that Oma had come into his room in the night and told him she was going to heaven and to be a good boy.

Hands down a page turner…has to be read to be appreciated.

It’s obvious from the bookshelves and the big screen that heaven is on everyone’s mind. All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Bestselling author John Burke is no exception. For decades, he has been studying accounts of people who have had near-death experiences (NDEs). While not every detail of individual NDEs correlate with Scripture, Burke shows how the common experiences shared by thousands of survivors clearly point to the God of the Bible and the exhilarating picture of heaven he promises.

Imagine Heaven is an inspirational journey through the Bible’s picture of heaven, colored in with the real-life stories of heaven’s wonders. Burke compares gripping stories of NDEs to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will it look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets? This book will propel readers into an experience that will forever change their view of the life to come and the way they live life today. It also tackles the tough questions of heavenly reward and hellish NDEs. Anyone interested in NDEs or longing to imagine heaven more clearly will enjoy this fascinating and hope-filled book.

Another gripping read:

In the ten years since 90 Minutes in Heaven was published, millions of people worldwide have read the incredible true story of Don Piper’s experience with death and life–and in reading they have found their own lives changed.

After a semi-truck collided with Don Piper’s car, he was pronounced dead at the scene. For the next ninety minutes, he experienced the glories of heaven. Back on earth, a passing minister felt led to stop and pray for the accident victim even though he was told Piper was dead. Miraculously, Piper came back to life, and the pleasure of heaven was replaced by a long and painful recovery.

With a personal update from Don on the impact the book has had on him, his family, and the millions who have heard his story, even those who have read the original book will want to be part of the continuing story of 90 Minutes in Heaven with this new edition. Also includes a note from the publisher, stories from readers, favorite Scriptures and quotations on heaven from Don Piper, and a photo insert.

I have not read this one yet, but will.

Be honest – are you afraid to die? Most people are….Christians included. If that’s you, read the astonishing true story of a young boy’s deadly head-crushing injury and his three visits to Heaven….and your fears may vanish forever.

Run over by a car at age five, Billy Anderson died three times prior to emergency surgery. Left in a vegetative coma after large portions of his damaged brain were removed, doctors gave him no hope to survive. But God had other plans – completely healing Billy only SIX days after his skull-shattering accident.

Yet beyond the undeniably miraculous healing, little Billy was given a glimpse of heaven. Returning home just 13 days after his brush with death, Billy stunned his parents by telling them of his visits to heaven…. “The doctors fixed my head, but God made me well. I saw God…and Jesus is coming.”

Now, through Billy’s extraordinary journey, we have the blessed opportunity to learn what it’s like to leave your body at death, to experience the majesty of Heaven and the electrifying presence of Jesus.

As told by Bill’s brother Jim, I Saw God will take you on an unforgettable reading adventure — a comforting and inspiring revelation of God’s mercy and grace… a story that will prepare you for eternity… a story that begs to be told.

Near-Death Experiences Evidence for Their Reality

Near-death experiences (NDEs) are reported by about 17% of those who nearly die.1 NDEs have been reported by children, adults, scientists, physicians, priests, ministers, among the religious and atheists, and from countries throughout the world.

While no two NDEs are the same, there are characteristic features that are commonly observed in NDEs. These characteristics include a perception of seeing and hearing apart from the physical body, passing into or through a tunnel, encountering a mystical light, intense and generally positive emotions, a review of part or all of their prior life experiences, encountering deceased loved ones, and a choice to return to their earthly life.

Results Suggesting the Reality of Near-Death Experiences

Line of Evidence #1

Lucid, organized experiences while unconscious, comatose, or clinically dead

Line of Evidence #2

Seeing ongoing events from a location apart from the physical body while unconscious (out-of-body experience)

Line of Evidence #3

Near-death experiences with vision in the blind and supernormal vision

Line of Evidence #4

Near-death experiences that occur while under general anesthesia

Line of Evidence #5

Near-death experiences and life reviews

Line of Evidence #6

Encountering deceased loved ones in near-death experiences

Line of Evidence #7

Near-death experiences of young children

Line of Evidence #8

Cross-cultural study of near-death experiences

Line of Evidence #9

Near-death experience after effects

The great majority of more than 1,000 near-death experiencers believed that their experiences were definitely real.

Believing in an afterlife, believing in a “God”, and believing in prayer are all completely different and separate questions. Believing in one does not necessitate believing in any other. For instance I do not believe in an individual afterlife, I do not believe in the popular concept of a God, but I do believe in and practice prayer. All quite compatible.

Yes, I have had an NDE. The test to tell if you are having an NDE or just a dream, is that an NDE experience involves an overwhelming torrent of love embracing you. Dreams do not offer this. Once you have felt the love of the other side, you will not fear death.

I had a Great-Great-Aunt Josie. When she was young she married the man of her dreams. He built them a huge house to house all the children they were going to have together.

After years of those plentiful bedrooms remaining empty, they discovered she could not have children.

Her husband loved her but wanted his own children more than anything. He divorced her and gave her the house and everything in it. He married a fertile young woman.

Great-Great-Aunt Josie lived the rest of her life alone in that house. It was her treasure and consolation prize.

After her death, her house was sold, so the worth could be split among many nieces and nephews. The new owners moved in, and within a week they started complaining about the crazy old woman who wouldn’t stop pounding on the front door and demanding they get out of her house. The family found it very odd; Aunt Josie was the only woman who ever lived there. So, my family asked for a description of this woman. Yep, they perfectly described my Great-Great-Aunt Josie. It turns out death wasn’t going to keep her from what was hers. My family told the new owners that Aunt Josie comes with the house; no take-backs.

Now, the threat of hauntings is a regular part of family wills and determines what we do with the property of those who have passed.

Q1: Yes. When the body is actually declared dead (i.e. no physical signs of life) by multiple doctors who were attempting to revive the deceased and the person later comes back and describes what took place after they were declared dead, then that is your actual proof of consciousness surviving the death of the body, right there.

Q2: some NDEs are reasonable evidence, sure. (see Q1 above)

Q3: I have not had an NDE, personally, but have an acquaintance who is a nurse and says she has witnessed some. Not sure what happened with Tom and Giselle so will withhold comment.

No NDE’s for me. Had some OBE’s (Out of Body) in the late 70’s. LSD was involved. Wrote a college composition on the similarities between OBE’s and death as described in the Bardo Thodo (Tibetan Book of the Dead). I really like the idea of being able to walk through walls or to teleport yourself to any place you can imagine. You get 40 days, then you’re either reborn or assimilated into the light. If you have any desires left you are lured into the web of Maya and cast back into the world. Mostly unfulfilled sexual desires but could be others. Your psyche is literally assaulted by visions of copulating couples and if you should succumb, you get another ride on the old merry go round. If you should have no desire left, then your will, your being surrenders to the jewel in the lotus, unless you choose to return to the world to instruct others. Anyway, that’s the Tibetan Book of the Dead in a nutshell, or at least as well as I remember from over 40 years ago.

When your on drugs it is called an hallucination. There is a big difference between a hallucination and a real spiritual experience. In both you have an altered consciousness. But with drugs you have no mental clarity so it is delusional.

All experience is subjective on the receiving end. The method one uses to achieve the experience is irrelevant. And I would argue that most religious experiences are hallucinations, regardless of the sobriety of the subject who experiences it.

My youngest brother passed in. 2011. We were both single at the time, I have since remarried.
I won’t go into detail of how/why he died, just to say they determined he passed on a Wednesday. My father found him Friday evening. Of course myself and my other 3 brothers went straight to the folks house to be with our Mother. Fast forward to Saturday evening after we had all had dinner. My mom came up to me and told me to go home and sleep in your own bed. but please come back Sunday morning as she wanted to make us breakfast. I was exhausted from the day.
I drove straight home and went right up to bed. I was awoken from my sleep from what I thought were Angels. There were three of them in my ceiling fan. They said “Christopher wants to talk to you”
I said ok, let’s talk. They said “No, you must come and sit at the table” Now, although I was in some sleep/dream/awake state I remember thinking “wait if your Angels and Chris died on a Wednesday why are you visiting me now” If you are Angels wouldn’t you have come the night he died! Not four days later! I said no. They came back again Sunday night and Monday night, three nights total. Then it stopped.
To this day and for the rest of my life I will always wonder what would have happened if I went with them. Something about them didn’t feel right, and although I would have loved to talk to my brother one last time, I think I made the right decision.

This is not an all or nothing issue. Suppose for a minute that the somewhere in the universe, everything that has ever happened is stored on the cosmic equivalent to a giant hard drive.
There would be no need for consciousness to survive, only life force which could then be recycled.
As individuals, the way we perceive things and out individual personalities are dictated by our brain structures. This is proven because changes in brain structure often cause changes in personality, and we associate personality with who we are, or as some people believe our spirit..

This has been written about a lot in the spiritual worlds. Drugs are hallucination not NDE’s. You need mental clarity to know the difference. This is why people on LSD would occasionally jump out the window as they thought they were in the spiritual worlds and could fly.

When I was 8 (shortly after my Baptism) I took a high fall into deep water. It was Early November and I had on new jeans, thick socks, tennis shoes and a heavy sweatshirt. There were four other kids around who saw me fall in. Every one of them ran away. None of them told anyone for fear of getting into trouble.

So, there I was, twenty feet or more down with all those cloths on and only one or two swimming lessons under my belt. Even as I was falling I was praying to God to help me. I missed every boulder and log on the way in. I had just enough time for one deep breath before the plunge. As I looked around, I noticed I couldn’t see light anywhere and didn’t immediately know which way was up. Those little motes of light started to appear in my vision…the kind that appears when you’ve held your breath too long. Then it happened.

I felt a hand grab me by the collar and pull me upwards. I looked up but saw nothing but the approaching surface, still distant but definable. I started kicking and stroking as hard as I could. I broke the surface a second or two later. There was no one there. An impossibility. I climbed the 15 foot bank and looked around. No one in sight as far as the eye could see. I walked the half mile back to my Dad’s truck sopping wet and trying to process what had just happened. After ruling out all the logical possibilities, I took it as proof of the existence of angels.

My take on ‘life after death’ is woven into my belief in karma and reincarnation since I was about 8 years old. I knew that what the priests and nuns taught us about things wasn’t true … more parables and stories with meanings that most didn’t comprehend.

My take is that — in the event one does not complete the complete karmic journey by the end of a given physical lifetime — one must, indeed, return to this karmic (earthly) plane until all karmic accounts are squared … and that the life we lead after this one is the ‘life after death’ from this lifetime, just as this lifetime is the ‘life after death’ of our previous life.

Proof? Try this on for size …

In May, 1980, we were on our honeymoon in Australia … just as Mt. Saint Helens erupted here …

We were somewhere just outside Melbourne at a State Park that had been a family farm and residence in the 1850s or so … and we decided to visit it since the tour book made it sound interesting.

As we pulled up, my wife and I looked at each other — the house (a mansion, actually — the original family was wealthy) looked totally familiar from the outside … and, upon entering, looked totally familiar on the inside. We even showed one or 2 of the docents guiding the tours of the house a couple of things that they’d never head about nor seen — ‘secret’ rooms accessed by ‘secret’ passages that had been hidden from all view until we showed them to those docents.

Upon entering the house, we knew that, for example, there was a very large kitchen with a very large pantry — and an indoor swimming pool beyond that pantry …

We knew we had been there before — likely in those 1850s — but not necessarily as the wealthy owners and their family, but possibly as the ‘hired help’ …

We were amazed — and, yet, it was totally within our wheelhouse to believe in the truth and the reality of the experience.

As for NDEs — I had open chest surgery in September, 1981, post cancer treatment — to clear up some questions about what was showing up in my lungs after 6 months of experimental chemotherapy.

In 2000 — 19 years later — my wife told me about how the surgeon told her, upon his exiting the OR from my 7.5 hour surgery — that I’d died ‘at least 3 times’ on the table that day … and that, thankfully, they’d been able to revive me every time.

I was shocked to hear this account some 19 years after the fact … my only recollection of the surgery was of extreme darkness (no ‘go toward the light’ stuff — in fact, no light anywhere) and of being very afraid of what was ‘there’ with me …

A person told my wife that my soul was actually in the process of being taken from me by the darkest of forces in the Creation — but that God had wrestled with those forces in order to keep me from the darkness.

That’s all I know about ‘life after death’ and NDEs … and I’ve been grateful for all of the moments since then … every — last — one — of — them …

I was stopped.at a red.light at the intersection of Hwy 36 @ Hwy 290 I Brenham, TX on my motorcycle and was rear.-ended by a 73 year old fu ktard that never hit the brakes.
I woke up to a girl talking to me in Charlie Browns teachers voice my bell was really rung!
I lived, but got fucked by insouciant lawyers.

In a mother’s womb were two babies.

One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?”

The other replies, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”

“Nonsense,” says the other. “There is no life after delivery. What would that life be?”

“I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths.”

The other says, “This is absurd! Walking is impossible. And eat with our mouths? Ridiculous. The umbilical cord supplies nutrition. Life after delivery is to be excluded. The umbilical cord is too short.”

“I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here.”

The other replies, “No one has ever come back from there. Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery it is nothing but darkness and anxiety and it takes us nowhere.”

“Well, I don’t know,” says the other, “but certainly we will see mother and she will take care of us.”

“Mother?!” You believe in mother? Where is she now?”

“She is all around us. It is in her that we live. Without her there would not be this world.”

“I don’t see her, so it’s only logical that she doesn’t exist.”

To which the other replied, “sometimes when you’re silent you can hear her, you can sense her. I believe there is a reality after delivery and we’re here to prepare ourselves for that reality.”

Last year for a short period, kept having these insanely vivid realistic dreams, but it was of things I had never seen before, i always thought your dreams would all be of old experiences , you couldn’t create new content?
What if the dream world and afterworld are somehow connected ?
I am of the camp that there is a new journey after this world. What idk.

Yes they are connected. The levels of dreams are levels of heaven. You hit a new level. This is the Many Mansions Jesus talked about.

One thing is hardly any comment on bad NDE’s. They (NED experts?) say only a small percentage are negative, however look at vids entitled‘I went to hell’, etc.

Not sure of my overall opinion on them but in general think they are contrary to the Bible so am very wary. We are easily deceived.

I do not believe in life after death in the traditional sense, although I do believe our life force continues, returns to its source and is recycled. I do not believe the life force has any conscience of its own, that it is basically pure energy.

To get rid of the negative energy, she should have burnt the shoes instead.

Much evidence to the contrary, there is no life as we know it after death, It took me many eating of ants on many hills to come to that conclusion… Yes. Ants screaming run for your lives the big tongue is in the main quadrotor and we can multiply as mother nature has provided for kind after their kind… seeds after their seed. The universe and its expanse, one would imagine that there is life all over the universes as far as can be seen and beyond the unseen in the distance the eye can see. Well, there was a time when our parents brainwashed us with the myths of eternal life and the hereafter… buzz job by the bees of parents and their superstitions handed down from the Gnostic anteaters of the past that now eat us! Who cares if we get eaten?? There is another life out there for sure. But I know some who have studied the historical writings of the ancient sages, as well, there is no archeological or written sources that even collaborate any of the foo foo the ant eater bible describes in its imaginative psychoses of fearing death… to say the imagination is corrupt could be the allegorical prognosis of the Gnostic which doctors looking to the stars and calling them gods and turning them into some man saviors… History records this mental dementia all over the world with many different ant and ant eater tribes.
Nevertheless, believe what you want to believe… You will never be disappointed when you die because you cease to exist as well as that narcissistic ego personified by your face in the mirror. Tell your neighbors your stories…they might believe you too! Then you might be able to control them with your beliefs… or they will use their own mental judgment and think for themselves… We all must die ant and ant eater alike; in the meantime, we might be a meal for another carnivorous creature that have altered beliefs than ours. Why can’t everyone just think alike??? Eat fruits and grasses ans save us from the carnage of everlasting death… LOL 😆
The Gnostic Aardvark has spoken…

Nice, Aardvark! But youse be wrong. The only thing we know for sure is that we are conscious of being conscious. That’s it, but that means, of course, we are not our bodies and that consciousness is what? Where did it come from and where does it go when the body dies? Does consciousness die? How could it, it has no mass, no atoms, no nothing. It just is, like maybe infinity.
