General Robert E. Lee on Traveller - David Wright

Robert E. Lee in Uniform

General Robert Edward Lee, the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, dies at his home in Lexington, Virginia. He was 63 years old.

Lee was born to Henry Lee and Ann Carter Lee at Stratford Hall, Virginia, in 1807. His father served in the American Revolution under George Washington and was later a governor of Virginia. Robert Lee attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and graduated second in his class in 1829. He did not earn a single demerit during his four years at the academy. Afterward,Lee embarked on a military career, eventually fighting in the Mexican War (1846-48) and later serving as the superintendent of West Point.

When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Lee sided with the Confederacy and spent the first year of the war as an advisor to Confederate President Jefferson Davis. He assumed command of the Army of Northern Virginia when Joseph Johnston was wounded in battle in May 1862. Over the next three years, Lee earned a reputation for his brilliant tactics and battlefield leadership. However, his invasions of the North, at Antietam in Maryland and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, ended in defeat.

After Lee surrendered his army at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, in 1865, he returned to Richmond, Virginia, and an uncertain future. With his military career over, he accepted the presidency of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia. Under his leadership, the struggling institution’s enrollment increased from a few dozen to more than 300 students. He contributed to faculty stability, revamped the curriculum and improved the physical condition of the campus. Lee suffered a stroke on September 28, 1870, and lingered for two weeks before passing. The school changed its name to Washington and Lee College soon after he died.

Rarely in life do honor, resolve and brilliance collide to form such a man.

…the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it.

“Everyone should do all in his power to collect and disseminate the truth, in the hope that it may find a place in history and descend to posterity. History is not the relation of campaigns and battles and generals or other individuals, but that which shows the principles for which the South contended and which justified her struggle for those principles. ”

Bloodline actor.

The usual kings back to Charlemagne right on up to 5th cousin of Gen. George Patton and even 4th cousin to Lee Harvey Oswald and cherry on top Allen Dulles and Walt Disney. Freemason stacked deck all the way for the south, then we were asset stripped and reconstructed to this day ya’ll.

Until you understand bloodline actors you will keep running full speed in the hamster wheel.

An actor who lived in the dirt and saddle, eating scraps for food and suffered all the deprivations of war alongside his men , all leading to an untimely death…what a great actor. He should have won an academy award for that part.

He was Lincoln’s first choice for the Union Army, his state went with the south. That’s about it for the dedicated Confederate.

I would have traded him for Mad Dog Sherman in a heartbeat. Now there’s a General’s General , right there.
Lee knew how to fight a war, but Sherman knew how to win one.

I guess that makes Union General Sheridan a ‘winner’ too, huh?

The irony is that no one was freed. Whites were enslaved along side the blacks. Look around.
