We have had decades of administrative state that regulates all sorts of things. The FDA was perhaps the earliest, and has been around since 1906.
The regulation of food, drugs, chemicals, and products of all kinds includes safety.
It has ALWAYS BEEN that certain regulated items must PROVE SAFETY before being introduced into commerce. That is, the burden of proof is on the person or company who makes a thing to prove that it is not unsafe.
Suddenly, people like Scott Adams and Ron Unz and a billion other brainwashed sheep suddenly seem to think its unfair that products, chemicals, or pharmaceuticals should be held to a standard that they describe (I shit you not, I have seen this argument) as the products being presumed guilty until proven innocent.
Uh, yeah! That’s the point. It has always been this way. They are products. They are not human individuals with rights. They are not citizens of a so-called “free” country. They are chemicals and drugs. An entire massive regulatory framework has been set up specifically with the presumption that they are unsafe until proven safe. EVERY new drug, EVERY new chemical sold in this country has had to do testing to prove the product is safe.
