Edmonton and Calgary are the biggest cities in Alberta. They both have ‘progressive’ idiot municipal governments that demonstrate the enormous difference between urban and rural life.
Try taking a dump anywhere outside your home in small town. You’d better be camping. Otherwise try it in rural Alberta and you’ll get your whole body stuffed into the garbage can.
The urban/rural divide is the same pretty much everywhere.

Last time I was in Alberta was the early 70’s and I thought it was one of the most beautiful places I’d ever seen and the people were just wonderful…I did not want to leave.

I picture Alberta as a normal kinda place with normal kinda people. Maybe some space aliens can rip Edmonton from the ground and transport it to the west coast where it will be with its kindred spirits of Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and San Francisco. Keeping all the utopias in one region is probably a good idea.
