I recently wrote how public educators and unions were methodically killing public education. The best example this week comes from New York where a school board committee has solved the dismal math and reading scores for children in the system . . . they lowered the standards. This is not the first system to gut its standards rather than improve its quality of education.
As teachers and unions object to school choice, they continue to make the case for private education.
Parents are increasingly voting with their feet.
The board is simply calling the lack of proficiency “the new normal” and changing the standards. Done.
New York will permanently lower the math and reading proficiency standards after embarrassing results in state testing. It is akin to shortening the 100 yards dash to 50 yards to stay competitive on speed.
The media reported that
“A scoring committee that reports to the Board of Regents said Monday that they must take into account the results of last year’s tests for students in grades three through eight. Some schools posted shocking results — in Schenectady, no eighth grader who took the math test scored as proficient. And the scores for the third through eighth grade tests throughout the state were much lower in 2022 than in 2019, a result no doubt of the absence of in-person learning during the first year and beyond of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
This may seem insane to anyone with a proficiency in logic, but it is being shrugged off by many in New York. There is now an acceptance that the public schools cannot actually educate students to proficiency levels needed to succeed in the modern world. In the meantime, some districts are moving to a four-day work week for teachers to reduce stress.
We previously discussed the elimination of gifted and talented programs to achieve equity by artificially lowering everyone to the same level.
Other schools have eliminated the “F” to guarantee 100 percent passage rates.
Still others have suspended proficiency standards to simply graduate students who cannot reach required levels in writing, math, and English.
There is also a move to end standardized testing.
In a prior column, I was particularly moved by the frustration of a mother in Baltimore recently who complained that her son was in the top half of his class despite failing all but three of his classes. Graduating students without proficiency in English or Math is the worst possible path for these students, schools and society.
It is the dumbing down of America but administrators, boards, and unions insist that it is better for these students, who face dismal prospects for future employment. In the meantime, we are pouring billions into schools that cannot produce a single proficient student in basic subjects. If this were a business, there would be criminal fraud charges across the nation.

Wow what a surprise a city of niggers spicks and foreigners doing that! I remember back in the 70s and eighties the city giving nigs 20 extra points on civil service tests because they were too fucking stupid.
Maff be hard n’ shit.
Can you make an x with your crayon? You pass!
Jus keep my wife name out cho fuckin’ mouf.
Lol
Obama’s Common Core also contributed, you know 2+2= 3
And remember who it was that was so heavily inve$ted in that program: Bill from the Gates of Hell … pushed it to b h o’s administration like the POS that he is …
hey! 2 and 2 is 22.
Even Barbie said, “Math class is hard.”
It validates Dinesh D Souza’s contention that the democratic party is just as racist as they were during slavery. Add this to a list that includes Memphis and Chicago’s public schools where announced educational failure is the new normal. All black-run cities that are the very base of the democratic party. Poor stupid fools.
Memphrica is in Shelby County and up until a few years ago had its own school system (MCS) with separate taxing authority, boards, administrations, etc. They had several schools that could not meet minimum standards. At the same time, Shelby County schools (SCS) had several schools that were in the top tier of the state’s schools.
MCS decided they would give up their school charter so SCS would have to take them over. Several of the Shelby County suburban cities quickly voted to set up their own school systems. The voters of Memphrica thought that the same people who had run MCS into the ground would be good people to put on the SCS board and lo and behold a half dozen years in, SCS is in the bottom of the state’s schools.
Bottom line is the high performing schools went independent, raising taxes on their citizens, but they still have high performing schools. The SCS schools that were not in the suburban areas went from moderately successful schools to poor performing due to the lack of leadership from the Board and Administration
You cannot give a bunch of self-entitled colored people power and expect anything other than failure. But it is the fault of the suburban schools that the results of SCS sank so quickly.
Hence white flight to DeSoto County, MS. And to Collierville, TN, where Dean & Turner Wingo (Starksville frat bros) would never allow such crap to happen…I think).
I’m not familiar with the Wingo’s. Are they DeSoto County?
Collierville now has one of the best public schools in the county and a new high school that is state of the art. I was living there until the County Commission decided to give the Grizzlies a $1/4 Billion basketball arena. Moved out of the county and my property taxes were cut 60% on 5 acres and a much larger brand new house. Sometimes I regret moving so far out, but other times I worry that I’m not far enough away from Memphrica.
Mayor Cox kept Collierville a sleepy little bedroom community for many years, but the developers have taken over and it is growing like a weed and like weeds, producing some bad seeds.
DeSoto County is the fastest growing county in MS. A house I lived in on the outskirts of Olive Branch 30 years ago is now pretty much dead center of the city.
porch simians do NOT make successful educational leaders. The few at the top of the IQ pyramid are doctors, lawyers, etc. so you don’t get the 100+ IQ types on those boards or running the school.
We have a bunch of obese black women in Shitcago public Schools that have doctorates in what I don’t know. But they still speak like bobongos.
That grifting street shitter needs to go back.
Shows how little the people in control care about not only the kids but the future of the country. Selfish assholes.
Why would they care when they bring in the smartest indians and chinks to run the country.
They want a nation of serfs and peasants.who blindly do there bidding.
“their”, please. And don’t ever poast any of that “boarder” shit either.
They’re not the smartest … and, by and large, the Indians hate US …
If you doubt that, look at all of the plans they implement in business and in government to destroy our Freedoms and Liberties …
Just thinking this out, I fully expect that once enough people have pulled their kids out of public schools, and the schools all start crying that they are losing money, our “government” will then put ungodly taxes on homeschooling, or withhold/subtract a certain amount of homeschoolers’ salaries (or both). Then, all that money will be funneled through dirty hands until what is left goes back into their Indoctrination Centers, er, schools I mean.
This is not too far from what is happening now anyway.
There is nothing in the Constitution about education so it is a state issue. There were few if any public schools the first hundred years of this country and literacy, actual literacy was higher than today.
Eighth grade and high school educated America went to the Moon. The PhD assclowns have taken us down into the pit.
The constitution.means nothing today
You’ve obviously missed the past 50 years or so where the 14th Amendment has been used to basically neuter the 9th and 10th Amendments … States Rights are a thing of a long ago past …
The 10th Amendment was nullified in 1865.
The Articles of Confederation was usurped in 1787 by the CONstitution.. It was a coup d’etat. Even if the CONstitution were legitimate, then the following would still be true:
“But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.”

EXCERPT:
Hans-Hermann Hoppe . . . argued that no constitution could restrain the state. Once its monopoly of force was granted legitimacy, constitutional limits became mere fictions it could disregard; nobody could have the legal standing to enforce those limits. The state itself would decide, by force, what the constitution “meant,” steadily ruling in its own favor and increasing its own power. This was true a priori, and American history bore it out.
What if the Federal Government grossly violated the Constitution? Could states withdraw from the Union? Lincoln said no. The Union was “indissoluble” unless all the states agreed to dissolve it. As a practical matter, the Civil War settled that. The United States, plural, were really a single enormous state, as witness the new habit of speaking of “it” rather than “them.”
So the people are bound to obey the government even when the rulers betray their oath to uphold the Constitution. The door to escape is barred. Lincoln in effect claimed that it is not our rights but the state that is “unalienable.” And he made it stick by force of arms. No transgression of the Constitution can impair the Union’s inherited legitimacy. Once established on specific and limited terms, the U.S. Government is forever, even if it refuses to abide by those terms.
As Hoppe argues, this is the flaw in thinking the state can be controlled by a constitution. Once granted, state power naturally becomes absolute. Obedience is a one-way street. Notionally, “We the People” create a government and specify the powers it is allowed to exercise over us; our rulers swear before God that they will respect the limits we impose on them; but when they trample down those limits, our duty to obey them remains.
BTW, the 17th Amendment helped shift power away from the states and toward the fedgov.
precisely how marxist – aka cultural-marxist – logic works.
well summized.
In the meantime, over in Eastern Hemisphere schools…..
Remember when student from all over the world wanted to come to America for a higher education. LOL!
Idiocracy!
Baltimore City School System has got this one beat already awarding diplomas to 1.6 GPA SCORE !
Graduating with the cognitive power lower than WHALE SHIT !
Once the shining example of what a public school system should be when it was a majority white population in the city now it’s a pathetic laughing stock !
Baltimore’s school budget spends more per student than any other system of similar size . It also has more administrators paid over $100K per year thanks to the city reps in the Maryland State legislator being able to pull the race card for funding the school budget gets 80% of its funding from taxpayers who would rarely if ever enter the nigger shit hole that is Baltimore !
So much for that “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR” !
If state and federal funding ended , especially section 8 housing vouchers for rent (welfare for landlords) the city would be an apocalyptic explosion in a month overflowing into the surrounding communities and that’s really already taking place dragging down the county systems on all levels
See exactly how BLACK LIVES ACTUALLY MATTER
I wonder if that’s the same child that was due to graduate from Baltimore schools in ’22 … until his mother discovered that his GPA was 0.13 … and even in one of those ‘elite’ public schools in Baltimore he had passed only 3 classes in his 4 years of high school … had accrued about 280 absentee days … and he was 62nd out of 120 in his class due to graduate.
His mother screamed loudly until the school district put him back a year … but, even with straight As he’d have been lucky to have a GPA of 1.0 …
…But the ‘institutions of higher learning’ that SPECIALIZE in churning out ‘teachers’ lowered their ‘standards’ QUITE SOME TIME AGO. Downhill since ‘mandatory’.
“The New Normal”: New York To Lower Math And English Proficiency Standards Due To Poor Test Result
A Few Exceptional one’s. Most are just getting paid well for NOT teaching. ‘Pay’ based Solely on yrs. of getting a paycheck.
After All? “It’s For The Children!”
Babylon Bee is real news.
Oh, not the Bee?
Wakanda recedes even further from realization.
Back during slavery, it was illegal to teach slaves how to read, write, & cipher.
Now it be racist to teach em lol
Plus, they don’t even want no damn white knowledge now, yo.
That always promotes improvement – just keep lowerin’ the goals…
A-yup. Equality and fairness at the lowest common denominator. Can’t smarten up the dumbest, so dumb down everyone. Happy, happy, joy, joy!

The United States of Harrison Bergeron
HARRISON BERGERON by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.:
https://www.tnellen.com/westside/harrison.pdf
“THE YEAR WAS 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren’t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.”

The Machine Stops, by E. M. Forster (November 1909)

Once you realize that about 4 or 5 years ago the NYC school board dropped the requirement that teachers be literate in English … all the rest falls into place …
There you go, allowing our education system sink to the lowest common denominator. Just who do you think is going to design and build new stuff? Stupid uneducated morons? I don’t think so. It is time to take your school boards or College and University presidents and staff to task for falling for the woke idiology that is passing for education in our education centers. When you push for “Equity”, (and have no idea what equity is) you failed, because instead of standing strong for equality of opportunity you want “Equal Outcomes” when humans have never been able to pull that off, because there is no such thing as Equality of Outcomes.
Betcha them chillins all know the latest niggerdances and faggot butthole punching techniques.
“Well, I don’t want to sound like a Dick or nothing but says on your chart that you’re fucked up. You talk like a fag and your shit’s all retarded?”
We are literally at this point in American Idiocracy. Even white collar professionals lack any and all critical thinking skills. It’s a sad testimony. I’m forever grateful that my parents sent me to private school. When I went to college in the early 2000s (State University) the coursework I did in college was what I did sophomore and Junior years in high school. I assume this trend has only exacerbated over the last 20 years. Now in college they’re probably teaching at a 6th grade level.
Dr Lexus’ quote for the win!
My son is a math tutor at his university and has told countless stories of how university students will pull out a calculator for 14 divided by 2, or similar calculations.
That’s what happens when you hire polarized morons. What you need to do is raise up the bar to qualify as teacher. In my days teachers had classes of up to 32 students and we scored better than today’ students.
It’s OK if they don’t actually comprehend math. They can always become a risk manager at a bank. Or a pilot.
“Here’s your participation trophy little Johnny.” Said to the pupil at graduation.
Let’s get rid of truancy laws, put the little bastards to work at age 12, worked out just fine for one grandfather, he quit school during the 4th grade at age 11, worked most of his life as a butcher, retired at 75 died at 90, left an estate of over $455,000 to his 3 children.
My other grandfather graduated HS, eventually owned his own land planning business (before Texas licensed landscape architects), died at age 56 from a massive heart attack.
My father quit HS at 17, got a GED from the USAF, after leaving the service went to work as a draftsman, worked his way up and became a registered landscape architect, not by graduating from college, by experience and passing the exam.
It was once possible (50+ years ago) to become a Texas attorney by reading law for a few years and passing the bar exam, no more of that, screamed the assholes in charge at the diploma mills.
Legislators and lawyers being one and the same is the ruination of many a nation!

They was Kangz n sheeeitt. Kangz don’t need no maff.
we really are devolving into a third world crap hole
About fifteen years ago, a lady from Spain, a naturalized American, told me on a commuter train in the Acela corridor that America was a third-world nation. I agreed. She spoke English better than most born Americans, as so many foreigners I’ve met have.
That3rd world shtuff strikes a cord!
Last week I was driving down a major interstate in the heart of Woke City, formerly Rustbelt-Midwest Manufacturers, Formerly one of the best places to Live Work and Raise a Family, USA…
My pronouns are WCRMMF-LWRF-USA
lo and behold, a 40 year old Central American pedaling his ass off on the shoulder of the highway, on a children’s BMX bike which looked like it was sold at a local Wal-Mart about 20 years ago.
I laughed in astonishment, and said welcome to 3rd world status!
Whatever comes from here, those that can handle what’s in front of them, will do just that, and carry on.
Yes, why the hell not . The school system is turning out idiots anyway, why not go all in.
It sort of happens when the teachers are poorly trained, the curriculum is garbage, and immigrant kids who won’t -or can’t – speak English well enough to pass a standardized test fill the schools.
Good teachers who tire of dealing with this leave. More teacher pay and incentives won’t fix a learning problem.
The teachers in many Northern Illinois school districts approach and exceed 100K in salary, then include benefits, a retirement at 55 and 3% increases every year to their pensions. Many will make more in retirement than they did ‘teaching’. Add in the huge salary increases their last 5 years of teaching and their starting pensions can be close to 100K.
Many will go through some diploma mill to get useless Masters degrees to further increase their salary. Many of the schools also have curriculum coaches, which earn huge salaries. Why would a teacher with a Masters degree need additional coaching to teach?
This is what you get by re-electing the same leadership instead of insisting on quality and discipline.
Dominyon, Joe. Dominyon has got this election “thing” covered IYKWIM.
I used to drive a local school bus in my area for seven years. I quit after the COVID episodes that saw a marked deterioration in the school system and high turnover of management where I worked.
The elementary schools are loaded with immigrant kids who can’t- or won’t – speak English. “Woke” administrators forced my decision to quit, as did coming home with headaches from dealing with unmanageable kids who couldn’t sit or behave for less than a ten minute, half mile ride to the nearest elementary school …
I quit, and wasn’t the only one to do so. I know for a fact the board voted to raise the pay over thirty percent to $30/hr. for a 180 day school year and STILL can’t find people with a CDL B and the right endorsements to deal with this shit.
I don’t, and won’t. I left for full-time work and doubled my income.
They cry “…we have a problem …”
My reply is simply DILLIGAF and walk away.
Not my monkeys, not my circus. Not anymore.
Parents say they will do “anything” for their children, but when you say they should be homeschooling their kids, they find multiple excuses to say “no.” Either you want what is best for your kids or you don’t. There is no in-between. If you can read your child’s textbook, you can teach it.
HOMESCHOOL!!!
