Some time between the gulf wars, probably mid 90s, I would get the girls off to school and then set down and watch this one show that came on the discovery channel (before it made its programming change for sure) and what it was was shows that were designed so teachers could record them and show them in their class room.
The odd thing was is that they could only keep them so long then had to be erased. Pretty sure it was a gov sponsored program because some of the shows were really interesting (as in revealing. kind of like scholastic news when I use to get it in elementary school).
For example they had one show on the nature of money, and they asked kids (probably junior high) what they thought the future of money was and one said that there would always be cash, and another said that it would be a combination of cash and electronic, and a third said that money will be electronic. Then some narrator came on and flatly stated that the future of money would be electronic. Clearly the whole thing was scripted. What kid would have much of a clue that age at that time? But that certainly was an attempt at predictive programming.
Anyways, another program was on Sun Tzu. And they had an officer on from the 82nd Airborne’s psychological operations division to talk about how it relates to Sun Tzu. And he said that their job was to get the enemy to not fight. That was the Sun Tzu part of course, but then he also added that it was also about getting the people internal the usA to support any military action.
That certainly isn’t surprising except to actually hear them say it out loud AND of course there was not supposed to be internal propaganda operations at that time (let alone by the military).
Of course, it goes back a very long time, especially when it comes to war. Hell, even Roosevelt gave a top propaganda Nazi who had defected during WWII a job to work his trade internally.
That is why it is so critically important to critically think about anything you are internalizing (and just as important things you already have), least you become someone’s plaything. Unless that is your thing I suppose.
