It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. The hell with people who can’t handle the truth… Chip
You guys are nuts.
We always drive out to the coast to share Thanksgiving with my Aunt and Uncle and their family- with the exception of the two years we were disinvited over the hoax and our decision not to let them bully us into poisoning ourselves.
Now I pull the old switcheroo. There has never been any topic I was not willing to talk about in the past. Now I just smile, enjoy a cocktail, say the grace before the meal, praise the food, and keep everything else to myself.
It drives them insane. Whenever they try and pry something out of me, I just give a wry grin, maybe make that tsk sound and tilt my head, but they’re never going to get another open and honest conversation out of me again in their lives. I love them, I will always show my loyalty, my devotion, and concern for their safety and health, but as far as speaking with them like adults? I’d rather go to a tailgate party at an NFL game.
As far as all my friends and acquaintances here and in my neighborhood, I wish you a sincere and reflective Thanksgiving. We all have much to be grateful for, especially such a generous host and welcoming forum to speak our minds freely on whatever topic sparks our interest. It never gets old.
I have to keep my mouth shut if I want to stay married. I was never specifically told this. I just learned it the hard way.🤣🤣
But my husband doesn’t have to keep his shut if someone else brings up a forbidden topic. Then, like in a legal trial, once it’s brought up I’m in.
My family never shied away from arguing about politics, religion or anything else out of the ordinary. It was fun to watch my dad argue with his siblings and in-laws. Maybe that’s where I got it. My mom usually didn’t want to get involved. My family has mostly passed on. Now family gatherings with my in-laws usually bore me and I can’t wait to leave, I’m sorry to say.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Have a lot to be thankful for, more than I deserve.
Started cooking the turkey at 6 this morning and I don’t set the clock back.
As the last in the family just have kids and grandbabies, love them dearly.
Got one to many ultimatums from the most wonderful, beautiful woman in the world, have not looked back.
Yes, so very much to be thankful for, thank you God, thank you Jesus, and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
So you set your clock forward permanently?
Arizona does not change clocks, it is only 4 months and besides, a distraction
Reticence is underrated.
We bought some Royal Palm turkeys and I sent her a picture of the toms displaying this morning with a Happy Thanksgiving. We bought 3 does and a buck this summer. I will take their pictures this morning and send those pictures to the breeders with a Happy Thanksgiving. We are very grateful this year for our farm and all we have learned and done. Grateful to be on this land, enjoying the work, enjoying the food we are raising. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Be blessed this day.
This should be a good starter….
Judging from the girls’ outfits and hairstyles, I’d say the pic was taken in the 1960s.
There was a financial services commercial last year with a jingle sung to the tune of “Silent Night” that I always get a chuckle from, it goes” silent night, awkward night, money talk ruins appetites, anger steams from tables afar, financial advice is the final straw, no one is eating their corn, no one is eating their corn”
Around here, it is football that starts the tempers flaring. SIL is YUUUGE ‘Bama fan and hopes enough teams get beat for them to have a chance for the BCS. The only fans worse than ‘Bama fans, are Notre Dame fans.
Me and the gal watched, “Terror at High Point” and witnessed Mt. Olympus get demolished circa 1963 on my new “The Fugitive” DVD set. Excellent time capsule.
My husband and I spend the holiday at home by ourselves. Stayed up til 4am, got up at 10am to put the turkey breast in, got a few things prepped, took my hungover ass back to bed. Got up at 3pm to get the turkey out and eat (still hungover). Now I’m about to slip into a food coma. All hail the National Day of Gluttony.
At our gathering of about 25 nobody brought up politics or anything controversial. Even though my son in law is traveling to his home city of Dublin tomorrow where thereis currently unrest.
