5G is a lousy range weapon. To function properly it requires a high density of transceivers. In vast swaths of Canada it would require a transceiver every 100 square meters or so, to “get to” the one person who might happen to pass through at some point.
The frequencies used by 5G have never been a technological problem. You can make a source yourself from simple, off the shelf and inexpensive parts. The walls of your house make them naturally. So does your body.
The problem, for a communications technology, is that they have no range, being easily blocked by a piece of cardboard, or simply humidity in the air. Wooded areas are right out.
It’s an infrastructure problem, so it is only pragmatically possible where the required infrastructure can be installed, which has not existed until relatively recently.
