This Week in the New Normal
Our successor to This Week in the Guardian, This Week in the New Normal is our weekly chart of the progress of autocracy, authoritarianism and economic restructuring around the world.
1. Guardian Gaslights on Climate Change
Perhaps no terms has become more annoyingly over-used in recent years than âgaslightingâ, but thereâs no other word to describe George Monbiotâs recent article in the Guardian:
Earth is under threat, yet you would scarcely know it
âŠIt declares in the headline, repeating one of the fundamental tenets of the Church of Climate Change â That no one talks about it.
Yes, no matter how many major corporations, government, newspapers, journalists, academics, movie stars, musicians, artists, royals, NGOs and TV channels saturate the public sphere with climate change propaganda, still they try and convince people they are in the minority and not taken seriously.
The standfirst is even more obnoxious: Continue reading “This Week in the New Normal”
The Real Reasons Central Banks Buy Gold (This May Surprise You)
From Peter Reagan
This week, Your News to Know rounds up the latest top stories involving gold and the overall economy. Stories include: Whatâs making gold the best all-weather investment, optimal allocation to silver in a portfolio, and John Paulsonâs frequent gold references.
The real reasons central banks buy gold
Vikram Dhawan, a fund manager with the Nippon India Mutual Fund, talked to Money Control about gold and why it continues to be an essential ingredient in every well-diversified investment account. As Dhawan points out, investors might be quick to jump on goldâs price decline since March. However, Dhawan encourages a slightly longer-term perspective:
Gold has gone up by almost 70-80% in the last five years and almost doubled from the lows of 2016⊠[and] still remains undervalued against most front-line assets like equity and other commodities with the exception of steel and silver.
Dhawan is among many experts who note that goldâs run actually started in 2016. As he explains, massive purchases by global central banks played an important role.

âCatching a Coldâ
Guest Post by Eric Peters
Remember when people just caught colds â and thatâs all there was to it?
They didnât think it was maybe something more. Didnât rush to the doctorâs office to âget tested.â Only neurotics did that. Now we all do that â to one degree or another. It is almost impossible not to at least think âRona Thoughtsâ when you feel your nose getting runny, a scratch in your throat . . . in the face of almost three years now of neurotic obsession with sickness.
It is a measure of what they have done to us.
We regard ourselves with suspicion â as well as one another. The sound of a cough in a public space prompts thoughts few of us thought three years ago. The next-day feeling not so well, ourselves, causes us to think we might be âinfectedâ as opposed to just having caught a cold.
TALKING WITH CALIFORNIANS
The Pandemic Truth
Guest Post by Justin Hart
Every year humans endures a âflu seasonâ â a period denoting the high-water mark of that yearâs wave of respiratory viral pathogens. Believe it or not we still have strains of the 1889 Russian flu, the 1918 Spanish flu, the 1957 Asian flu, the 1968 Hong Kong Flu, the 2009 H1N1 virus â all these various strains of nasty bugs rear their head every single year.
In late 2019, a new ânovelâ pathogen appeared on the scene â a bug from the âCoronavirusâ family (âcoronaâ describing the spike-like structure of the particles.) The official title was SARS-CoV-2. SARS = âsevere acute respiratory syndromeâ; CoV-2 = âCoronavirus 2.â This particular virus can cause a disease called COVID-19 (âCoronavirus Disease 2019â). The disease is thought to have originated in China and found significant human-to-human transmission. It is thought to be ânovelâ because prior infections of other pathogens do not seem to creative anti-bodies to tackle this newfound disease within the human body.

AOC SUPPORTS NUCLEAR WAR
My friend @Noggatone and I confronted Congresswoman @AOC on her support for Nuclear War and Ukrainian Nazis. I call her out for being a coward in the face of the party that will push us all into Nuclear war right now. Will she stand up like @TulsiGabbard and fight for peace? pic.twitter.com/aQiQvQSWIN

For More Crime, Vote Democrat!
Guest Post by Ann Coulter
New York Mayor Eric Adams would have been the Democrats’ runaway choice for president if only he’d kept his campaign promise and cut crime in the Big Apple. No mayoral candidate talked about “safety, safety, safety” more than he. As Adams told MSNBC during the campaign:
“Public safety and justice is the prerequisite to prosperity. And I think that we have become too symbolic, instead of realistic, on how you keep cities safe. And it’s time for the Democratic Party to understand this. America wants to be safe. And we can do it with justice at the same time.”
If a black mayor had saved New York City, no one could have beaten him. Not only that, but Adams has a black deputy mayor for public safety (Phil Banks), a black police commissioner (Keechant L. Sewell) and a black district attorney (Alvin Bragg).
Instead of a National Divorce, How About a National Backlash?
Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter
Dumping the libs and their garbage, blue cities â figuratively throwing their junk out on the lawn just in time for the sprinklers to go off â is so tempting and sounds so sweet. If only we could wave a magic wand and make the weirdos, losers, and mutations of the left just go away, along with annoying states like New Jersey. After all, they are pretty much a significantly less hot Amber Heard, and they are figuratively doing to America what she did to Johnny Depp’s bed.
Pack your stuff, libs, and get out. You’re someone else’s problem now.

Noncitizens Encouraged to Vote
Guest Post by Martin Armstrong
This is yet another reason why voter identification is crucial. We show identification at the airport, DMV, and even at the doctorâs office. There is absolutely no reason that we should not prove our citizenship via identification when we vote on policies that impact the direction of our country. Democratic Secretary of State Jena Griswoldâs office âaccidentallyâ sent 30,000 registration notices to noncitizens.
Free Speech, Jacinda Ardern and the Tyranny of âKindnessâ
Guest Post by Colin Todhunter
Jacinda Ardern, New Zealandâs prime minister, grabbed the global limelight a few years ago, making headlines by stating she wanted to put âkindnessâ into politics. In 2019, Foreign Policy, a publication closely associated with the Atlantic Council and the US State Department, published the article âThe Kindness Quotientâ, a glowing promotion of Ardern.
The strategic marketing of Ardern in various publications has focused on her likeability, pro-environment stance, compassionate values and collaborative nature. To further appeal to liberal sentiments, she was said to represent everything Trump is not.
Ardern belongs to a set of global leaders who were groomed for their positions through the World Economic Forum (WEF) Young Global Leaders programme. Yes, that WEF â the elitist organisation where hard-nose billionaires and their handmaidens gather to set out policies aligned with powerful business interests.
