The Suppression of Free Speech Has Close to Majority Support in America

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Almost every minute of every day I see overwhelming evidence of America’s collapse as a free country.  Elon Musk conducted a poll on whether Twitter should allow President Trump to use the social media platform. Fifteen million people responded.  51.8% of the respondents said “yes,” but almost an equal number 48.2% said “no.”  In other words, almost half of the 15 million social media users who responded to the poll oppose free speech for a former president of the United States.  https://www.theepochtimes.com/trump-will-be-reinstated-on-twitter-says-musk-following-poll_4874463.html?utm_source=Morningbrief&src_src=Morningbrief&utm_campaign=mb-2022-11-20&src_cmp=mb-2022-11-20&utm_medium=email&est=AaRJZFEv1VA7WZP8QIp6QI1XRNWDCCi2Csc7eZssLjYaXDJM4oN7iw%3D%3D

No doubt, being as indoctrinated as they are, they see Trump as a “pussy-grabber,” a Russian agent, and an insurrectionist and regard cancelling his First Amendment right as punishment.  Many of the same crowd want pedophiles to be relabeled “minor-attracted persons,” a step toward removing limitations on sexual relations between adults and children. They are content with the free speech right of pedophiles to advocate, but not for President Trump to express political views on Twitter.

Watching the Western World dissolve into Nazism

President Trump’s Free Speech Depends on Who Owns Twitter

How is it that in the exceptional and indispensable  USA, a former American president can be denied his constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech by a private communications company?

How can a mere private company cancel the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

How is it possible that the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of the lowest American can depend for a former US president on who owns Twitter? And Facebook?  And Google? And the New York Times?

How can Americans, especially conservatives, think they live in a free country when a former president of the United States can have his Constitutional Rights cancelled or granted by a private company CEO?

Isn’t this a case of the “private sector” controlling the government?

How can any people be free when they are denied access to facts, open debate, and truth?

We know ‘crazy’ when we see it…

Via Sovereign Man

In 1962, a movie theater in Ohio screened a French film called Les Amants, which contained a risque sex scene.

And, simply for showing the movie, the theater’s manager was arrested and convicted of violating Ohio’s obscenity laws.

The manager appealed his conviction, and the case made it all the way to the US Supreme Court.

Fortunately for the theater manager, the Supreme Court ruled in his favor. And the case famously gave rise to Justice Potter Stewart’s standard for obscenity:

“I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be obscene”, he wrote, “But I know it when I see it.”

That same standard of “I know it when I see it” applies to a lot of things when you think about it.

For example, it’s difficult to nail down a precise definition for mental incompetence. But I know when I see it— like when the President of the United States sticks his arm out to shake hands with thin air, then bumbles around stage like a lost puppy.

Similarly, we all know crazy when we see it.

For example, when AOC cackles about Socialism, Bernie Sanders praises Cuba, the media calls flaming riots “mostly peaceful”, and Nancy Pelosi makes a tiny circle with her thumb and index finger to pronounce that a multi-trillion dollar spending bill will “cost nothing”… we all know that’s crazy. We know it when we see it.

The crazies have been out recently howling against Elon Musk’s deal to buy Twitter.
