Title 42 Going Out; Migrant Flood Coming In

Via Progressives for Immigration Reform

Since his first day in the White House, President Joe Biden has embarked on a nonstop journey to dismantle existing immigration laws, at first through Executive Orders, and more recently word of mouth. Biden’s criminal disregard for congressionally approved, presidentially signed immigration laws led to a 2 million-strong illegal alien invasion at the Southwest Border last year, plus 500,000 “gotaways” that eluded border patrol agents, and the numbers tick up daily.

On April 1, the CDC announced that it will end the Title 42 regulation on May 23. Title 42 allowed border patrol agents the wherewithal to expel, on the basis of COVID-19, some migrants who wanted to enter the U.S. and claim asylum. But at the same time, the agents processed family units and other so-called vulnerable migrants who were eventually bussed or flown to the U.S. interior.

Harry Reid Once Championed Pro-American Immigration Reform

VIA PROGRESSIVES FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM

On January 12, former Senate Majority leader Harry Reid will lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda, following a Jan. 8 funeral in Nevada. Reid joins a long and growing list for this honor that was once limited to former presidents and military leaders, but now includes ordinary citizens.

Since 2000, the number of deceased Americans who have lain in the Capitol is 13. In the previous two decades, the total honorees was four, including two Capitol police officers killed in the line of duty, Florida Sen. Claude D. Pepper and an unknown soldier from the Vietnam War. Going back further to the 1960s and 1970s, Congress honored only eight Americans, including four presidents. No law, written rule or regulation specifies who may lie in state. Concurrent action by the House and Senate determines who will lie in state in the rotunda, assuming the family approves. The honor is at risk of becoming partisan.

Shortly after Reid’s death, legislators from both sides of the aisle sung the Nevada Democrat’s praises. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said that Reid would be in his prayers, that he was “a good man” who fought hard for his causes, and that he will be missed. Chuck Schumer, who holds Reid’s old job in the Senate, said that his friend always “looked out for people.”

And Jill Came Tumbling After…

by Uncola via TheBurningPlatform.com

It was morning drivetime in the city and Jill’s mind was racing. She navigated her Cadillac Escalade recklessly from the far left lane into the far right, before coming to a full stop on the exit ramp.  Looking ahead over the multi-colored rows of stalled traffic, she could see the stoplights one half-mile forward at the top of the incline, like tiny dots of red ink splashed upon the cerulean sky.

“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” she said as she stamped her right hand onto the top of her steering wheel three times.

She felt a familiar sense of panic envelope her as she leaned over to glance at herself in the rearview mirror.  “Bad hair day”, she muttered as she carefully readjusted the rhinestone circle hair pin that was now coming loose above her right ear.   With that tightened again and back in its place, she checked her lipstick by squinting her eyes slightly, leaning her head backwards a little and smacking her lips before the mirror with a pop.

Los Angeles County Goes Full Psycho on Immigration

Guest Post by Kevin Lynn from Progressives For Immigration Reform

The ruling elite of Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles seem to have lost their collective minds as they prepare for Trump’s Inauguration on January 20th. Given the events of the past two weeks, one would almost come to envy the protections and privileges being foisted upon the County’s illegal immigrants.

At the December 6th meeting, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda    Solis put forth a motion to protect illegal immigrants from deportation. In so doing she called for:

  • The creation of an office of Immigrant Affairs to serve and protect all immigrants of Los Angeles County,

    Hilda Solis

  • A strategy on how to handle a loss of federal dollars that could accompany the county’s refusal to implement federal immigration law,
  • County and City school officials to meet with immigrant rights groups and determine the impact of complying with federal immigration mandates,
  • The County’s Chief Information Officer to develop a plan to shield information from the federal government that could lead to the identification and deportation of illegal immigrants,
  • The County Counsel to conduct an analysis of the president’s legal authority to modify current laws and limit federal enforcement actions as well a analyze the penalties that could be legally imposed on the County for not complying.
