Happy Insurrection Day!

Authored by Michael Maharrey via SchiffGold.com.

Today we celebrate insurrection.

No. I don’t mean the fake Jan. 6, 2021, “insurrection.” I’m talking about the bonafide insurrection staged by American colonists against the British government.

We call July 4 “Independence Day.” But the British called it an act of rebellion.

You see, insurrection is in the eye of the beholder.

Technically, the British were right. Encyclopedia Britannica defines insurrection as “an organized and usually violent act of revolt or rebellion against an established government or governing authority of a nation-state or other political entity by a group of its citizens or subjects.”

The idea of insurrection offends modern sensibilities, and it is certainly an extreme last resort.

But it’s not always unjustified.

CLOSING THE CIRCLE

Guest Post by Hardscrabble Farmer

The leaves on the maples have finally begun to unfold, waves of pale green spreading across the hillsides, the pink fog of swollen buds in the swales between them. This was the latest Spring we’ve experienced up here and cool as well. By now the lilacs would be in full bloom and the forsythia done with it’s riotous yellow show instead of just beginning. The lambs are all on the ground, their lower legs fully covered while the dense matt of new fleece has just begun on the rest of them. There is one more calf due but the herd has already doubled in size and the sows spend their time in the wallow, bellies full with litters yet to come.

Enjoy July 4 this Sunday. It might be the last one.

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Yes, really. The Fourth of July is no longer an event to be celebrated. It has become a day of shame and remorse. On that day a systemic racist country was created that brought slavery and oppression to blacks. The Founding Fathers created the Constitution in order to legitimize slavery. Don’t just take it from me. To confirm that July 4 is a day of infamy just consult the New York Times’ 1619 Project, CNN, NPR, the critical race theory taught in your local school system, and in your son or daughter’s university or ask Kamala or Biden.

On July 4th Demand Freedom, Don’t Celebrate The State

undefined

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate the July 4th holiday we should remember that we are not celebrating the state, but rather commemorating an act of secession from an oppressive government. We are celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain – a daring move by the Founders inspired by a desire for liberty.

Thomas Jefferson famously said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” That does not only mean that we should be prepared to defend against foreign invaders. Perhaps more importantly it means that we must retain the lessons from the original American revolt and guard against a government that views the people as the enemy.

Annual Irony Day

Guest Post by Eric Peters

We’re just weeks away from the Annual Irony – the day devoted to celebrating a revolt against the authority of a red, white and blue bully (George III) while living under the thumb of … a red, white and blue bully (Uncle).fourth 2

We’re supposed to celebrate the former  – because it benefitted the latter.

The American colonists were not unsaddled. They simply got a new rider. Why celebrate this?

Does it make any sense to you?

The colonists, we were all told as schoolchildren, objected to being taxed by a far-away king and parliament that did not “represent” them. And which taxed them without their “consent.”

How many of you feel represented by the president and Congress in far-away Washington? Do you recall consenting to being taxed?

And what is it about being “represented” that’s so fabulous?

Are we, really?

How, exactly, can a single individual “represent” thousands – let alone tens (and hundreds of) thousands?

Pictorial Essay: Independence Day For Dummies

A 3-day, maybe 4-day, weekend of no work! Beer! Brats! Fireworks! P-A-R-T-Y Time!! That pretty much summarizes what too many Americans know about the reason for celebrating that day. On a good day you might even find a smart pea-brain sized American who mentions the word “freedom” in conjunction with the drunken festivities. After all, millions upon millions of Americans still live under the delusion that we are “the freest nation on earth”. We even have a war criminal ex-president who told us that they “hate us for our freedoms”. Never mind that what we define as “freedom” today — a brutalized technocratic police state run by banks, corporations, and globalist loyalists intent on destroying the very concept of the Great American Experiment, the Constitution — is the very same thing the Founding Fathers and colonists fought against! They weep in their graves, trust me.
