Adil Khan and Qari Abdul Rauf, members of the infamous Rochdale grooming gang, were convicted in 2012 for multiple charges relating to the sexual exploitation of minors as young as 12. Khan was found guilty of trafficking a fifteen-year-old girl and impregnating a thirteen-year-old girl. Rauf was also convicted of trafficking a fifteen-year-old for sex, driving her in his taxi to secluded areas where he raped her and took her to an apartment where he and others had sex with her.

At the end of May, in the county of West Midlands – London’s second largest borough – a local council worker was attacked after confronting a car of women who were littering cigarette butts from their vehicle. As the Litter Officer was taking down the women’s info during the stop, Raja Malik exited from a nearby home and began to accost the officer, saying that “everyone chucks cigarette butts… I’ve done it”.

Will these migrants and asylum seekers become good Europeans? Or will they create in the great cities of Europe enclaves that replicate the conditions in the African and Middle East countries whence they came?
“Fortress Europe is an illusion.”
So declares the Financial Times in the closing line of its Saturday editorial: “Europe Cannot Ignore Syrian Migrant Crisis.”
The FT undertakes to instruct the Old Continent on what its duty is and what its future holds: “The EU will face flows of migrants and asylum seekers across the Mediterranean for decades to come.”
Can Europe not repel this unwanted home invasion from the Global South?
It is “delusional” to think so, says the FT. Europe must be realistic and set about “providing legal routes for migrants and asylum seekers.”
