I froze my balls off walking from my parking garage to my office.

Our local media is doing all they can to portray this cold ass weather as “normal” by citing examples like it was 12 degrees on this day in 1913! Yeah, that really helps, fuckers. Funny how they don’t do the same on hot days in the summer.
Wind chill here this morning is a balmy -4. On Wednesday they are telling us we are getting 2 feet of snow. I’ve had it with Global warming! This after last week turning on TV and listening to some Professor Know-it-all talking about Global Warming and how this weather is evidence of it. Great minds take great leaps and that guy proves it.
Got a feeling we are going to bypass spring and go straight to summer. Then watch summer be hot and dry.

Today isn’t bad, although it’s overcast. Yesterday was cold and rainy; I almost had to wear a sweater. Saturday was nice, high around 85 F. I had the top down all day.

Upper forties in Central Texas yesterday. It drove me to work inside. Even got a a little rain on the ‘stead, just enough to tease the trees, but not enough to fill up the creek. They say there’s an El Nino coming. Bring it on.
It was in the 20s this weekend, I was out in a long sleeve t-shirt raking the leaves, sticks and thatch up off the ground so the new grass could do some more.
Just in time for snow today.
Still, I’m not complaining. Anything above single digits is alright in my book.

Last time I checked, ok. Got a friend in C-Springs who gives me updates on the Rockies snowpack. Above normal at the end of February. Haven’t checked with him in March. Snow in the Arizona mountains sucked this winter. 20% of normal. Everything points to an average winter for water supply. It is amazing how many Arizona residents (90% +) are clueless about water.
California is fucked, though. There’s some serious shit going on out there with that drought.

LAKE MEAD, Nev. – When you head out on Nevada’s Lake Mead, the first thing you notice is a white line. That’s where the water used to be.
What did this look like a decade ago?
“This was all underwater,” said Pat Mulroy, the general manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority. “I mean boats were everywhere. There was a whole marina here.”
Mulroy said that the drought began 14 years ago. Satellite photos show the Colorado River, which feeds Lake Mead, is drying up — so the lake is rapidly shrinking. Islands are growing, and boats are floating far from where they once were.
“It’s a pretty critical point,” Mulroy said. “The rate at which our weather patterns are changing is so dramatic that our ability to adapt to it is really crippled.”
Lake Mead was created by the Hoover Dam in 1935. It provides water for 20 million people in southern Nevada, southern California and Arizona. Since 2000, the lake has lost 4 trillion gallons of water.
The bathtub ring is going to get bigger. Lake Mead is expected to drop at least another 20 feet this year. If it does that could trigger automatic cuts to the water supply for Nevada and Arizona.
That would hit Las Vegas hard. Ninety percent of the area’s water comes from the lake. At least one of the city’s two intake pipes could soon be above water. So to save the water supply Nevada is rushing to build a third intake even deeper.
Concrete slabs are being lowered 650 feet underground where a massive drill is creating a three-mile-long tunnel, one inch per minute. The project should be finished next year and costs $817 million.
“We’re really scrambling to make sure that this intake is done in time before we lose our first intake,” said J.C. Davis, the project’s spokesperson. “Without Lake Mead, there would be no Las Vegas.”
Despite its wasteful reputation, Las Vegas actually reuses 93 percent of its water. It’s paid homeowners $200 million to rip up their thirsty lawns. The city added 400,000 people last decade but cut its water use by 33 percent.
“All of us are in it together, and all of us are either going to survive this or all of us are going to feel the consequences,” Mulroy said.

It’s high noon for one Arizona auction house that says it has two guns once owned by the legendary gunslinger Wyatt Earp.
The Arizona Republic reported that J. Levine Auction & Appraisal listed two guns, including a Colt .45-caliber revolver, that descendants of the famous lawman say he carried in Tombstone and possibly the shootout at O.K. Corral.
“This is American history here — and not only is it that, it’s Western folklore…..This gun, the O.K. Corral shootout, it’s lived on where other stories have not stood the test of time,” Josh Levine, the owner of the auction house, told the paper.
He reportedly said that he expects 6,000 bidders and thinks the two guns will fetch about $275,000.
