124 Police Officers Were Killed In The U.S. Last Year

Some more facts that don’t match the hero narrative. Police deaths while on duty are on pace to be at a record low in 2016, down 60% from the peak in 1974. Gun related homicides are also trending towards the lowest levels since 1900. In 1991 there were 24,700 homicides in the U.S. Last year there were just over 16,000 homicides, down 35% while the population grew by 26%. The number of guns owned by American citizens has tripled since 1991.

Does this match the anti-gun narrative of the left and the popos? Does the government want to confiscate our guns because of crime or because they are worried we will use them against a tyrannical establishment? The militarization of police forces isn’t to protect us. It’s to protect them from us.

Last Thursday night, a gunman in Dallas killed five police officers and wounded eight others, the worst toll on U.S. law enforcement since 9/11. It’s a dangerous job – 124 officers lost their lives last year with 51 dying so far in 2016. Generally, the number of police fatalities has fallen considerably since it peaked at 280 in 1974.

I tried to explain this to someone that not only in total numbers, but as a percentage of the number of police officers active the number killed on duty has plummeted in the last 4 decades. They were dumbfounded, actually believing the TV narrative about the war on cops. The police will just become better armed, more detached and more insular to protect their own and what they have.

Look at Baltimore, the ones that don’t want the aggravation of working in a dysfunctional city move out to the suburbs where many of them already live. Their pension moves with them and most will retire in their early 50s to 30+ years of stress free retirement, some taking on details for extra money, others working for cash undercutting regular tradesmen who have to pay the taxes and insurance that these retirees avoid. Its a great scam if you in on it.

Bob.

“They were dumbfounded, actually believing the TV narrative about the war on cops.”

TV hypnotism is the main problem I see with Merkins. Read articles and comments here and you can spot the TV addicts by what they have to say. Writers who repeat the memes from TV always draw distinctly bizarre conclusions from the information they include in their articles. Commenters here who only seem to be partly aware, or not at all aware of what’s happening are probably still sucking on that pacifier that takes up so much space in the living room.

The continued LOVE FEST on CuNNt and Fux is absolutely nauseating. The endless blathering on and on and on about “bravery” and “hero” makes me almost want to cheer for BLM.

Copfuckery isn’t even close to being a dangerous job. Well, the donuts will cause diabetes.

Most people don’t comprehend basic arithmetic and can’t keep things in context. We’re a nation of 1/3 of a billion people. #3 in the world by population. 9xx people killed by cops – with the majority having been armed & non-compliant is a miniscule number. I’m sure the cops kill a lot of those unnecessarily. Stupid BLM supporters are taking a police brutality issue and making it a race issue, despite twice as many whites being killed by cops as blacks. Of the 124 cops killed, many have heart attacks and others are killed in car accidents while working – some of which had nothing to do with actual policing. The “war on cops” meme is as false as the “cops are hunting black men” meme.

More police are killed in auto accidents then are killed by direct criminal acts, according to a FBI report in 2014.

Starting pay for a Hartford CT cop fresh out of the academy is $73,000 a year. The hero will also get a solid gold medical benefit package and a solid platinum retirement (at full pay or more) after he serves his masters for 25 years or so.

A lot of them retire on disability because of “stress on the job”. I guess it’s tough being a Hero these days. We had one retire after 18 years on the job with a pension that was bigger then his salary. Oh, did I mention their automatic COLA raises every year? How about the virtually unlimited amount of hours they can work overtime?

The average pay for a Hartford cop, with overtime, is around $130,000 per year. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

The Roman Emperors paid their Pretorian Guards well, so they would do anything for him and to make sure they didn’t kill him before his enemies did.

These former home depot shelf stockers who make up our Hero police wouldn’t be fit to polish the sandals of the Pretorian Guard. But they serve the same purpose….to protect their masters and get paid well doing it.

Lysander, TV addicts still believe that cops live on practically nothing. One of my wife’s friends’ son said he decided not to be a cop after seeing on the wire one cop mentioned that she took the job because the starting salary was $33k or so a year which was more than she made as a toll booth attendant. It was nonsense, of course, but it at least kept the boy from becoming a cop.

The media depicts cops as underpaid heroes and people believe it, despite the fact that the cops in their towns drive new cars, own new houses at the age of 20 something and spend money on toys like boats and motorcycles as if they are middle aged, middle class upper level wage earners. A five year ‘veteran’ cop makes what it takes the average white collar worker 20 years to achieve in salary level.

The same is true of school teachers and administrators, who work 9 months out of the year and are paid for 12 months.
