As the economy continues to spiral downward, Wall Street continues to loot and pillage, and Washington DC politicians continue to do nothing but posture and bloviate, people have begun to lose their minds. In the last week we’ve had a man lose it and kill 12 people in Washington DC. Yesterday we had a woman lose it and get gunned down by DC police. Today we have a man self-immolating on the Mall in Washington DC.
It seems they have the right place. The next step is likely to be people losing it and assassinating politicians and bankers.

Not this time. When someone self immolates themselves on the National Mall during a government shutdown, it can’t be ignored. The self-immolation of a man in Tunisia started the Arab Spring revolutions in 2010. The Middle East has been ablaze in violence and revolution since then.
Is this past week of people going off the deep end in the nation’s capital the start of the American Spring? Are people across the country going to start losing it?

Man Sets Himself On Fire On National Mall, Near White House

NBC Washington reports that “Passersby on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., ripped off their shirts to help extinguish the flames after a man apparently tried to set himself on fire Friday, witnesses and authorities said. The man was conscious and breathing when he was flown by helicopter to Washington Medical Center, D.C. police said. There was no immediate report on his condition. The incident, which was reported at 4:24 p.m. ET, occurred on Seventh Street Southwest near the National Air and Space Museum, U.S. Park Police said. Witnesses told several media organizations, including NBC Washington, that they saw the man pour gasoline on himself from a red canister and then set himself ablaze. Police said they couldn’t confirm those reports. Nearby joggers stopped and ripped off their shirts to smother the flames, NBC Washington reported.”
The burned man was promptly carried off the Mall using a helicopter.
A fire official says a man has been flown to the hospital after setting himself on fire on the National Mall.
Fire crews responded Friday afternoon to a report of a man on fire at 7th and Madison streets. A witness says she saw a man dump a red canister of gasoline on his head and then set himself on fire.
D.C. Fire Department spokesman Tim Wilson says the man has life-threatening injuries.
His name and age weren’t immediately known.

The origins of this thread – that poor dude that saw no way out. Man who set himself ablaze on National Mall dies
A District of Columbia police spokesman says a man who set himself on fire on the National Mall has died of his injuries.
Officer Araz Alali says the man died Friday night at a Washington hospital where he had been airlifted.
He says the man was so badly burned that he will need to be identified through DNA and dental records.
The man poured a can of gasoline on himself in the center portion of the mall Friday afternoon. He then set himself on fire, with passing joggers taking off their shirts to help douse the flames.
The reason for the self-immolation was not immediately clear and the man’s identity was not disclosed. But it occurred in public view, on a central national gathering place, in a city still rattled by last month’s mass shooting at Washington Navy Yard and a high-speed car chase outside the U.S. Capitol on Thursday that ended with a woman being shot dead by police with a young child in the car.
He was standing by himself in the center portion of the Mall when he emptied the contents of a red gasoline can on himself and set himself on fire moments later, said Katy Scheflen, who witnessed it as she walked across the area.
Scheflen said the man was clearly alive as the fire spread, and passing joggers took off their shirts in an effort to help put out the flames. It was not clear who actually extinguished the flames.
Lt. Pamela Smith of the U.S. Park said she was unaware that he carried any signs or had articulated a cause. Scheflen said she saw a tripod set up near the man but did not hear him say anything intelligible before he set himself on fire. It was unclear if he was filming the incident.

Let me give you a personal clue as to why I didn’t respond to your personal attacks in kind, but chose instead a different path. I know headstrong women like you because I’ve been married to one for 47 years. A woman who has called me an arrogant asshole and a complete son of a bitch on more than one occasion.
Just like I planned it. I was engaged in risky operations for my entire adult lifetime until I retired. My wife got the message that I might be gone someday when a close friend of ours hit the ground at something like 1,000 miles an hour on a night mission. Nothing to put in the casket. Nothing.
The lessons continued. So she learned early on that she MIGHT have to make family decisions without me. Good call. That’s exactly what she had to deal with and did so.

@Stucky, Really feel for your son. My little bro was on a shitton of ADHD drugs back in the day (which he didn’t want/need). Even my dad was on SSRIs for a bit, but upon hearing the side effects weaned himself off. I’m not saying dad doesn’t need something, perhaps just getting motivated to get out of the house once in a while would do much good (probably more then the SSRIs).
We are definitely way over-medicated as a society. To re-iterate and to expand, I’ve not been on antibiotics for about 21 years. Not seen a doc in 17-18. Have taken some prescription painkillers off and on that friends passed me when I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED THEM. Normally I avoid even aspirin unless I feel I really need it. By taking it rarely, it works when I need it to.
I do feel much healthier being more or less pharma-free.
Even I was forced by the state for attend some psychiatric sessions and had to go thru some sort of a brain mapping test. While that Dr was certain that I had ADHD as well, when i took that test, I just spent most of my time trying to focus on a bunch of Science magazine articles I had read at one of my grandmas.
After taking that test, I apparently passed with flying colors. The Dr stopped saying I needed drugs, and started to say I had a “mild case.” That more or less shut my teachers up at school.
