I HATE WINTER

Our next round of global warming has just begun. Temperatures will be plunging into the single digits, with wind chills of 10 degrees below zero. As an added benefit we are getting 9 to 16 inches of snow. I really need to move south. This global warming shit is getting old.

The projected lowest temperature in the next seven days, and the past three weeks, in Phoenix, is approximately 44 degrees. It’s been a very mild winter here.

Of course, I’ll be back in July to vent 🙂

All week it’s been nothing but sun here, with temperatures in the upper 60’s. It sucks.

10 degrees here and the diesel would not start, had to take the truck. At least I closed in the window I ripped out of the bathroom Sunday. I fucking hate winter.

40 & sunny here today in the great white north. Most of the snow has melted. Looks like spring is here.

If the the lake freezes over in the winter, you can swim in it in the summer without fear of water moccasins (or alligators). Real winter keeps the poisonous snakes and insects out and keeps the hobo population down to a minimum. What makes a place bad is sometimes what makes it good, and vice versa. Places with “perfect” climate are overrun with people, and annoying ones at that.

I hate winter too, but Spring is just 60 days away. Winter also helps me appreciate the three other seasons even more.

the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for mthe intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” Genesis 8:21-22

Winter blows. I hate it. It’s cold as hell outside, 1 deg with wind chill. I had high expectations for global warming, 70 deg. days all winter. Fuck Al Gore and the rest of the fucking global warming assholes, they’re wrong and I’m pissed. Maybe time to go on cruise in the Caribbean, with all the union government drones that retired at 50 with massive pensions. 90% of the people on the last cruise I went on down there were ex-government drones, living the good life. The only problem is I can’t afford a cruise, because my fucking taxes are so high (to pay for ex-union government drone’s pensions). Fuck the government and union government drones. I hope they drown.

More cold weather in the NE. 73 F and sunny here in Florida.

5 degrees outside and 72 inside at midnight here in North Appalachia.

England defended her island with “Walls of wood.”

Fool makes his own and just put a couple sticks in the stove.

Fixin’ a batch of beans for the pot luck in the village on Saturday.

Most folks take a couple of sticks of wood for the stoves in the old schoolhouse to round out the ambiance.

We still pop corn in a wire basket on the wood stove and Chet will supply the butter he gets from his girls (Holsteins).

Looking forward to Mrs. McGrath’s devils food cake.

Some of us still know how to have a good time.

The only coons here on the hill climb trees and sometimes would knock over the garbage can If we had one,

Aint seen a porchmonkey in quite a spell.

They aint big on hard work or cold weather.

Suits me just fine.

I’m gonna go there.

Tis you higher power, that sliced me in half, filled of your breath, and cast me down under the sea, and I floundered, then I saw the third thing, Thought.

Minneapolis canceling school tomorrow just because the air temp is going to be -17F at 8 AM. What kind of pussy ass bullshit is that? Fucking eat a glob of suet and get your ass to school.

36˚F in the lab today. Most of my benchwork has ground to a halt as depending on where I’m standing, my work might start to freeze up on me.

I love cold weather, but man this is inconvenient.

Also, anyone notice how the first Arctic Blast was declared proof of global warming, but all these others have not been commented on at all?

Maybe the weather has froze their mouths shut.

-14F by 7 AM tomorrow. They canceled schools again. For cold. In Minneapolis. WTF? They hadn’t done that for ten years and now we’re on our fourth or fifth cancellation. Ran five miles tonight, bundled properly, perfectly comfortable. 2-3 foot snowdrifts on the leeward side of the lake slowed me down, though. Time for a midnight walk on the lake, sufficient cocktails having been imbibed.

OK. Honestly, that was a bad idea. 11 below, -35F wind chill. I should have at least worn long underwear. I felt like Ernest Shackleton crossing Antarctica. I got 100′ feet onto the lake just to say I did it and then turned the fuck around. Jamaica sounds like about now.

It’s on the way to the mid-Atlantic states. Enjoyed near 50 degree highs this weekend. Headed down to the teens overnight for the rest of the week.

Getting out this morning to enjoy the last day of warm weather for the week.

The little bit of snow we got last week was unimpressive. My oldest daughter exclaimed, “This snow sucks!”

Maybe we’ll get decent snow tomorrow night. It’s forecast, but it’s a crap shoot.

-4 here this morning with a wind chill of -22 and expecting temps to keep falling, but the sun is shining and it’s gorgeous outside as long as you’re dressed for it. Still wouldn’t want to be one of the people who have to work outside or drive to work in it; feel sorry for them.

If you get weary of the cold in Elk River, you might consider moving south to Minneapolis…

Iska, I had to laugh… my parents moved to Indiana when I was young because they hated winters up there. I was born in Ashland, WI. I hear from friends the Apostle Islands are gorgeous this year.

Can we say this is turning into the “I love winter” thread?

Naaaahhh…
