Poll: One-third say impeach Obama
By JONATHAN TOPAZ | 7/25/14 7:09 AM EDT Updated: 7/25/14 9:40 AM EDT
One third of Americans think President Barack Obama should be impeached, a new poll says.
According to a CNN/ORC International poll released Friday, 33 percent of Americans think the president should be impeached and removed from office, compared with 65 percent who say they don’t support impeachment. Fifty-seven percent of Republicans say they support impeaching Obama, compared with just 35 percent of independent voters and 13 percent of Democrats.
When asked about when Congress should attempt to impeach a president, 79 percent of Americans said it should be used only if there is evidence of a serious crime — such as treason or bribery. Eighteen percent said impeachment could appropriately be used to registered dissatisfaction with White House policies.
A plurality of Americans — 45 percent — believe Obama has gone too far in expanding his presidential powers. Thirty percent said the president has been about right in terms of presidential powers, while 22 percent he has not gone far enough.
The numbers generally fall in line with CNN results from the past two presidencies — 30 percent of Americans support impeachment for former President George W. Bush in 2006 and 29 percent support impeachment for former President Bill Clinton in 1998.
(Also on POLITICO: Obama’s immigration rhetoric: Then and now)
In 2006, 48 percent of Americans said Bush had gone too far in expanding the powers of the presidency, compared with 34 percent who said he was about right and 14 percent who said he hadn’t gone far enough.
A Fox News poll released earlier this week reported that 36 percent of Americans favored impeaching Obama, compared with 61 percent who said they opposed impeachment.
The Democratic National Committee said Friday’s results show that the American are against both impeachment and the speaker’s lawsuit against Obama.
“As the CNN poll finds, the majority of Americans support the President taking action if Congress will not and they oppose the GOP’s sham lawsuit and talk of impeachment,” DNC national press secretary Michael Czin said in an email to POLITICO. “The American people want the President, and Congress, to tackle important issues, like commonsense immigration reform, equal pay and raising the minimum wage – so while Republicans waste time on political stunts, those are the issues the President and Democrats will continue to fight for.”
The CNN survey was conducted July 18-20 with 1,012 adults on landlines and cellphones. The margin for error is plus-or-minus 3 points.

Sarcastic Posters Meet Obama at Silicon Valley Fundraiser
By Oleg Atbashian | First published in PJ Media
Imaginative satirical posters mocking president Obama appeared yesterday in various locations of Silicon Valley, where the president was scheduled to speak at yet another fundraiser with California’s rich and powerful on Wednesday, in spite of all the troubles piling up, domestically and internationally.
Obama’s last two-day fundraising visit to Silicon Valley was less than three months ago. This time he came accompanied by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Steve Israel, and a few local Democrat politicians. The expensive $32,400 per couple brunch and VIP reception was held in the house of a local restaurateur and real estate broker, George Marcus, inside an upper-class gated community protected from the rabble and the disastrous effects the president’s policies have on the lower and middle-class Americans.
In addition to the posters, an “invitation” flyer was mailed to all neighbors within the half-mile radius of the host’s home in Los Altos Hills. Describing the fundraiser as “A Feast in Time of Plague,” the mock invitation pointed to the frightening gap between the increasingly entrenched political elites and the harsh reality of joblessness, insecurity, and loss of incomes for the rest of us.

A few larger versions of this flyer were also posted on the streets of Los Altos.
Other posters describe the president as a wily SiliConMan, or show him holding the iconic map of Silicon Valley while uttering his famous quote, “You didn’t built that.” A series of iPod parody posters in vibrant colors display Obama’s silhouette holding an NSA listening device under the mock “iSnoop” brand next to the small Liberty Bell with a piece bitten off as in the famous Apple logo.
The street artists posted more photos of their satirical campaign in an anonymous online gallery. They can be found here:

Brilliant and long overdue in-his-face satire!
Of course he’ll ignore it all, as he thinks his team will get him through it all, just another day on his way out.
AWD
God Bless You for the Obama-hate. We LOVE it!
However, I think this “impeachment” stuff is misguided. If you want, please answer the following;
— 1) What will it REALLY accomplish?
— 2) What piece-of-shit will replace him, and how will that piece of shit improve things over the current piece of shit, and isn’t it possible, or even likely, that the new piece of shit will be even WORSE than the current piece of shit, and in that case won’t we citizens be even more fucked?
Not just us, Stuck, 1/3 of Americans…
From the poll, That’s 110 million Americans (just happens to be the exact same number as the 110 million disability/welfare FSA parasites)
The guy has bamboozled all of us.
Some think he’s brilliant, some think he’s stupid. But in reality he maintains control by not responding, thus the paralysis.
The guy is a sociopath. He has achieved his goal: For Barry to be president. That’s all there’s to this empty suit clown.
The FSA elected this fool – just shows how much power the FSA really has. As long as you are subservient to the governments rules, you can be a member of the FSA. A long time alcoholic acquaintance of mine (who is 54, single) – has dried out – and is going to get an apartment – paid for by you and me. A 54 yr old single guy – doesn’t have to work – we pay! Just for the hell of it, I asked him about Obama Care – he’s all for it – then I asked him how it worked. Well he didn’t know anything except that it should be free.
These kind of people are now in the majority!
Better the devil you know, than the devil you don’t know.
Hmmm…get rid of Bathhouse Barry…..I see nothing on the horizon that gives me hope for the future . I see only more of the same from the next leader, with totalitarian rules implemented via the NDAA and the Patriot Act when TSHTF .
GOP Rank-and-File Discusses Ways to Take on Obama Over Amnesty, Including Impeachment
In a free-wheeling discussion that touched on dozens of proposals for how to address the tens of thousands of illegal immigrant children streaming across the southern U.S. borders, one thread connected the calls to add to or change a border crisis proposal from GOP leadership: President Barack Obama.
The proposals included trying to prevent a future executive amnesty by Obama, telling the president what he should do to enforce the law in a non-binding resolution, and even putting impeachment on the table.
Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) told colleagues that the House should pass legislation with new steps to secure the border, and tell Obama if he didn’t implement it, they would impeach him.
“He either enforces the laws on the books—as he was hired and elected to do—or he leaves Congress no option. This is not our choice, this is the President’s choice and I would advise him to uphold the law on the books,” Yoho said in a written statement after the meeting.
“People were hissing at that because they don’t want to go there,” said a GOP member who was in the room.
At the other end of the spectrum, Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA), a top proponent of comprehensive immigration reform, expressed befuddled frustration with conservative colleagues resistant to passing the package put together by a working group of members appointed by Speaker John Boehner.
“I have all my ideas about this, a lot of you guys – what you tell me is, we gotta secure the border and send ’em home. Now you have a chance to secure the border and send ’em home, but you’re saying we can’t do it,” he said, to laughter.
There were divergent views from lawmakers on whether the meeting produced a strong impetus to pass a bill in the House next week, with some lawmakers saying the conference had achieved a consensus on moving forward while critics of the border package raised questions about whether it could secure the necessary votes.
The discussion is, at this point, about optics, since it’s widely regarded that the House bill will not be enacted into law.
“Whatever we do, we gotta figure Reid isn’t going to go ahead with it, so basically it’s a message bill, well we’re going to go tell our constituents, ‘well here’s what we’ve done, Reid won’t do it.’ So this is kind of just political blame shifting,” said Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).
One option discussed is a resolution outlining steps Obama should take to secure the border.
“Trent Franks mentioned he has a resolution that specifically lists all the ways the president has failed and invited the crisis, lists a number of things that the president could actually do to solve the crisis. I think there’s a lot of sense that that’s a good idea, right out of the gate, to do that. And then whatever you do after that, we’ll see,” DeSantis said.
Another was addressing the push to address a future executive action by Obama in a stand-alone bill.
“We could at least put it on the floor separately. That’s what my recommendation has been to the task force: if you don’t want to put it in the bill, at least let us vote on it,” said Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX).
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said he supported addressing Obama’s executive actions in the package. “I think we should, but we’ll see. I think we should, but I would vote for it anyway. Whatever comes out is a step in the right direction. You can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good,” he said.
Members remarked about a very wide array of ideas being proposed.
“Every subject under the moon” was discussed, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) said.
“Oh, yeah – too many,” King said when asked if many views were expressed.

New IRS Form Proves Obama Lied About Individual Mandate Tax

On Thursday the IRS released a slew of draft 2014 tax forms. The new draft Form 1040 shows a new surtax line has been created for the payment of the individual mandate surtax – see line 61 of the 1040:
President Obama has repeatedly denied that the surtax is in fact actually a tax. The most prominent example was a heated exchange on ABC’s This Week in Sept. 2009, when George Stephanopoulos confronted Obama with a dictionary:
STEPHANOPOULOS: I — I don’t think I’m making it up. Merriam Webster’s Dictionary: Tax — “a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.”
OBAMA: George, the fact that you looked up Merriam’s Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you’re stretching a little bit right now. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have gone to the dictionary to check on the definition. I mean what…
STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, no, but…
OBAMA: …what you’re saying is…
STEPHANOPOULOS: I wanted to check for myself. But your critics say it is a tax increase.
OBAMA: My critics say everything is a tax increase. My critics say that I’m taking over every sector of the economy. You know that.
Look, we can have a legitimate debate about whether or not we’re going to have an individual mandate or not, but…
STEPHANOPOULOS: But you reject that it’s a tax increase?
OBAMA: I absolutely reject that notion.
It was always obvious that the penalty for not complying with Obamacare’s individual mandate was just another surtax:
The surtax is collected by, and enforced by, the IRS.
As shown by the newly released draft Form 1040, the surtax is paid as part of normal income tax filing by taxpayers.
The individual mandate surtax was written into tax law itself by the Obamacare statute.
Revenues derived from the individual mandate surtax have always been scored by the Congressional Budget Office as tax revenue.
Famously, Chief Justice John Roberts pointed out that the individual mandate surtax is in fact a tax. However, that does not compel conservatives to agree that Obamacare’s individual mandate is Constitutional. The same decision declared the individual mandate unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause. Conservatives can accept that this surtax is a tax increase without accepting the constitutionality of the individual mandate.
The Obamacare individual mandate non-compliance surtax is one of at least seven Obamacare taxes that violate the President’s “firm pledge” not to raise any tax on any American making less than $250,000 per year.

Well it would probably kick off the race war that so many here seem eager to join in. That’s gotta count for something!
Stucky: “1) What will it REALLY accomplish?”
It will show that Americans WILL NOT put up with being lied to.
It will send a message to other would-be liars-in-chief that the same fate would happen to them.
It will give hope to millions that a populist movement can affect change.
etc., etc.
Nobody could be worse for the country right now than Obama, not even Biden. Biden would be
held in check until the 2016 election.
You think you know about Obama? Who he really is? Who is real father is? This guy knows more than you do…(film maker Joel Gilbert, whose movie “Utopia” was released last week).

Realise that Obama (and his “managers”) are completely impervious to any threats of impeachment (or any significant restriction on activity).
Any attempt to derail the “Programme”, and all he needs to do is mention that those “oppressors” intend to “reduce or eliminate support payments”, and his private army will mobilise very quickly.
Quite a populous private army too, and personal interests are a mighty effective motivator . . . . .
@Nick A: “his private army will mobilise very quickly.”
Bring it on!
White House: Republicans May Push to Impeach Obama If They Get the Chance
Jul. 25, 2014 5:00pm Fred Lucas
The notion of impeaching President Barack Obama got substantial attention Friday from two White House officials, who both said senior Republicans wanted to see it happen. But they couldn’t name any senior Republicans when pressed.
White House: Republicans Serious About Impeachment
Further, White House press secretary Josh Earnest expressed doubt about whether House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was sincere when he said impeachment is not on the table.
“I do believe that the speaker said on a number of occasions that there would not be steps taken by Republicans to shut down the government over health care,” Earnest said of Boehner, adding, “Maybe you need to ask him a little bit more about whether impeachment is on the table or not.”
Some conservatives have called for impeaching Obama regarding executive overreach on issues such as Obamacare, immigration and guns without congressional authorization. The Democratic National Committee and Organizing for America have consistently used impeachment in fundraising emails to warn donors about what could happen if Republicans win more seats in the House and gain control of the Senate.
The topic first made news Friday after Dan Pfeiffer, a counselor to the president, told a Christian Science Monitor breakfast: “I would not discount that possibility. I think Speaker Boehner, by going down the path of this lawsuit, has opened the door to Republicans possibly considering impeachment at some in the future.”
Asked about the comment, Earnest said, “There are senior members of the Republican Party, or prominent voices in the Republican Party who are calling for exactly that.”
“Who? Sarah Palin?” CNN reporter Jim Acosta asked, referring to the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate who called for Obama’s impeachment.
“She mentioned it,” Earnest said.
Acosta followed, “Is anyone in the Republican leadership talking about that?” He added: “There’s been a lot of fundraising emails with the word impeachment in them. This seems an awful lot like a fundraising ploy, not a real thing. You don’t really think the president will be impeached do you?”
Earnest again stuck to the same point without being specific.
“I think there are some Republicans, including some Republicans who are running for office hoping they can get into office so they can impeach the president,” Earnest said. “That is apparently a view they have to hold because it is a view that they express publicly.”
Acosta asked, “Is the White House Counsel’s office looking at this? Have you been studying the possibility of him being impeached?”
Earnest didn’t have a specific answer, and pivoted to how the important issues are reforming the Veterans Administration and addressing the border crisis.
“Here we are, one week before Congress is about to leave town and there is not a discernible path that Congress is going to make progress on this,” Earnest said. “Instead, we see Republicans giddy about the prospect of passing legislation along a party line vote to pursue a taxpayer funded lawsuit agains the president of the United States merely for doing his job.”

Rise up ,Obama is a traitor and deserves to be impeached and imprisoned. It ain`t gonna happen. Stuckey is right .He and thousands of others and we all regret it.
@overthecliff – I used to feel as you but this can’t continue. Even if getting a guilty vote on impeachment is remote, at least a strong message would be sent. Can the country afford to wait out another 2+ years of this tyranny?
Joel Gilbert is wrong about Communism. The vast majority of the people behind the Russian, Communist Revolution, including Carl Marx, Lenin and Stalin, were Jews. Most of those that went around slaughtering fellow Russians were Jews including running the Gulags. Fellow Jews weren’t immune from persecution if they resisted. It was Jews that murdered the Romanovs.
