OUR PROBLEM IS LOW SELF-ESTEEM, NOT A $2 BILLION BUDGET DEFICIT

Our problem is electing morons like Wolf to run the State. His master plan to revive PA was to tax the shit out of shale energy companies. Oops!!! That plan is DOA, as these companies will be going bankrupt over the next two years. He is a Democrat. Therefore, he will want to spend more of my money on useless shit. His new solution will be to tax the shit out of me and every other working Pennsylvanian so he can funnel money to his Democratic paradises of Philly and Pittsburgh. It’s for the children, don’t you know. That’s how you get re-elected in 2018. Low self esteem my fat ass. I have no esteem for idiots like Wolf and the rest of the bought off politicians in the bankrupt state capital of Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania’s problem? Low self-esteem, Wolf says

WASHINGTON – As he begins his tenure facing a $2 billion budget gap, struggling schools, and aging bridges and roads, Gov. Wolf said there’s another key area to improve: his state’s self-esteem.

“I think one of the responsibilities that leadership in Pennsylvania [has] to address head on – not only the structural issues in education, transportation, all those things, but also the psychological issues that keep us, hold us, back,” Wolf told other governors during a panel discussion of their states’ economic challenges. “So low self-esteem actually is a big problem.”

His comments came during a Saturday afternoon roundtable at a governors’ conference, and on Monday had Harrisburg buzzing. State Republicans poked fun at the Democratic governor, saying he should focus his attention elsewhere.

Wolf stood by his words Monday, though he didn’t use self-esteem. Instead, he cited an “excess of modesty.”

“The only people that really don’t believe that Pennsylvania should be the dominant state are Pennsylvanians,” Wolf said in an interview. “We have an excess of modesty, and in a lot of ways, modesty is a wonderful trait, but I think it keeps us from recognizing the amazing things that we are capable of, so I think we are an underachiever.”

At one point during Saturday’s panel at the National Governors Association conference, Wolf called self-esteem the state’s biggest economic problem.

When Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker chuckled and pointed to Pennsylvania’s highly touted universities, Wolf said he wasn’t aiming for a laugh. “We’re an underachiever,” Wolf said.

He also said Pennsylvania “could do a lot better with the resources it has” and should “tout our own potential.”

State Republicans said the comments denigrated workers.

“Good leaders do not blame the people of Pennsylvania and their ‘self-esteem’ for the economic challenges in the state,” Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R., Centre) said in a news release Monday. “It is insulting to Pennsylvanians who get up every day and work hard for their families.”

Instead of “psychological issues,” Corman said, Republicans are focused on pension reform and improving the state’s business environment.

In the 30-minute interview Monday at a Washington hotel, Wolf addressed some of those more tangible challenges, such as the search for a new state treasurer and the latest push to privatize the state’s liquor sales.

On the same day a Republican liquor privatization bill advanced past a House committee, he said this isn’t the right time.

“It’s an underperforming asset; we’d essentially be giving something away that has great potential value, and that would be wrong, I think, from the point of view of the citizens of Pennsylvania,” Wolf said.

The improvements many residents want, and that Wolf said he supports – such as lower prices, Sunday hours, and being able to buy liquor in grocery or convenience stores – don’t depend on privatization, he said.

Asked to elaborate on self-esteem, Wolf demonstrated his new role as the state’s top cheerleader.

He said that if a space alien visited the United States and was given a list of the assets of each state, “that alien would look at the 50 sheets of paper and say, ‘Pennsylvania must be the dominant state. Obviously it’s the dominant state.’ ”

The strengths include “two great cities, institutions of higher education, a size that’s wonderful, scenic beauty, the history – the country was founded here, two constitutions that were drafted were drafted in Pennsylvania, the Gettysburg Address was delivered in Pennsylvania, the Declaration of Independence was drafted and signed in Pennsylvania.”

As governor, Wolf said, part of his job is to emphasize those strengths, much as he said he did when he rescued his family’s struggling cabinetmaking business.

“The biggest thing I did was call attention to how good we really were, and say, ‘We can actually do this.’ That’s part of what leadership is,” he said. “What it’s not is sort of sitting back and saying, ‘Let’s just let this drift into something and see where it goes.’ That doesn’t work. With Pennsylvania, you’re starting with really good attributes, and I’d like to call attention to that.”

Why is being concerned with adults self-esteem even a thing? There was once a time when adults didn’t sit in a therapy chair pondering if they were happy, I doubt they would have wanted to know the answer.

Move to New Jersey. We have very high self-esteem. We think every other state, especially PA, sucks ass. You’ll have a new-found love for PA in no time at all.

At a minimum, put one of these in your back window.

Growing up in PA ( I’m 65 ) I thought it had something going for it. That was until the 1970’s.

Philly the largest city is a shit hole, overrun with FSA neegrows – right across the bridge from Camden – a real hell hole. Harrisburg has to continually bail out the Philly schrool system.

Then there’s Allenown – the third largest city – a complete state of collapse – overrun with FSA Puerto Ricans. The Bethlehem Steel went bankrupt. AT&T left. Mack trucks left. They have lost probably 30,000 high paying blue collar jobs.

Wilkes Barrie / Scranton keeps struggling (as it has done forever) to keep it’s head above water.

Lastly there’s Harrisburg – the city – the state capital went bankrupt – about 5 years ago. Hell the contractor took back the city parking ramp cause they didn’t make the payments.

Then there are the “State Stores” where you get a selection of wines / liquors selected by government employees. Truely back in 1930’s.

Pennsylvania has been sliding backwards since 1970 – and continues to do so.

You guys are close enough to fire island it shouldn’t take long to find a new treasurer. The search for physician general went so well. For the kiddies, you know? Jim, let’s face it, with the weather you’ve been having, the space available economy, etc., all you need is greater access to liquor and you too can live an astonishingly realistic recreation of life in the old soviet union, albiet with a darker shade of citizen. You’ve found your gorbachov in this wolf guy, what could go wrong?

From another thread, Stucky posted this disparaging remark towards sensetti.

Stucky says; Sensetti, you have been beating the Republicans-Are-Great war drum for quite some time now. How is that working out for you?

Just fine Stucky keep reading?

Republicans are not great they’re just a thousand times better than a fucking Dimocrat. It’s a choice between bad and really fucked up. Read Admin’s commentary above and contrast it with my state.

Arkansas turned blood red last election. Our new Republican Govenor cut taxes for everyone under 80k a year, and is cutting most spending by 1% . Will he be perfect? No. Will he do everything I would want? No. But he will be better for the people of this State than the Dimocrats of the past.

I cannot understand why intelligent men cannot see the difference between Red States vs Blue States. For the “most part” Red States are in better shape than Blue States and that’s a fact.

Stand back and and look at the whole picture. The eight most Bankrupt States are all Blue States. Placed in order as most likely to go Bankrupt –> Illinois, California, Michigan, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, It’s not an accident, it’s liberal politics in motion.
http://dailybail.com/slideshows/states-most-likely-to-go-bankrupt/7996733

Is there a difference between Republican and Dimocrat? Hell yes there is, you have to ignore the facts to think otherwise.

I was an Independent until Obama came along. He made me want to get involved, his kind must be stopped, I refused to stand on the sideline and be marginalized anymore. We made some big gains in my State last election, I am proud to have played a small role. Now we will see how it works out, we’re off to a good start.

Republicans Sweep General Election in AR

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Arkansas is a one-party state again, in a breathtakingly quick republican sweep.

Republicans throughout the state are celebrating, with good reason, after a clean sweep.
“It’s not just that republicans won, they won handily and they won handily throughout this state in really unprecedented ways unlike anything we’ve seen for generations,” says Greg Shufeldt.

Greg Shufeldt at UALR Political Science says election day, not so much a republican wave as a realignment in Arkansas, one with likely permanency.

“It doesn’t look like this is something democrats can flip back in 2016 or in the near future.”

The GOP expanded its majorities in the state house and senate too.

Maybe so. I don’t mean to be “disparaging”, but …. you’re exchanging sleeping with one Devil, for another.

I also said in the same thread that you (and, we) are better served fighting for a New American Party … like the Greeks have done with Syriza.

“Please explain the phrase (or word) “self-esteem” — Southern Sage

1)— Education surveys show that when it comes to math, reading and science, teens in the U.S. rank 36th in the world

2)— Other surveys show that USA teens rank in the Top 3 in the world in self-esteem.

Therefore, self-esteem = being a dumb-ass and feeling good about it.

Here on TBP, the person with the highest self-esteem is bb.

You’re Welcome.

Stucky a third party will not rise until after the collapse. If you want to see change conservative men and women need to get involved and change the Republican Party. If not, you WILL hand it over to the likes of Obama and Al Sharpton. You have to play the cards you are dealt, to have a voice you must be at the table. Why do you think Ron and Rand Paul have Republican behind their names? Because they know to do otherwise would would push them to the sidelines and silence they ideas. Yes, I know the Republicans Squeezed Ron Paul out but he was at the table, his ideas played across this Country. The Paul name is now recognizable and he very well may have paved the way for Rand to be a top contender, he’s polling very well. If the Paul’s followed you advice we very likely would not even know their names much less their ideas!

Do as you will but I will not stand marginalized on the sidelines waving my arms yelling the games not fair. That will accomplish exactly zero. Trust me, if a third party was the way to go the Paul’s would have walked that road.

The problem is the ‘Primaries’. This is where the fuck-ups vote for people like Insane McCain, and Mitt.

Somehow the Republicans (the real ones) need to get rid of the primaries and select solid candidates.

I talked to many people who were fed up with liberal bullshit being shoved down their throats, the disgust was palpable, and what happened? The entire State voted overwhelmingly Republican. That my friend is people coming together demanding change and we better get it or we’ll turn it over again.
