Pennsylvania, Illinois Usher In The New Year With Record Budget Impasses

We’ve written quite a bit this year about the fiscal crises unfolding among America’s state and local governments. Illinois became something of a poster child for the problem when, in May, the state Supreme Court struck down a pension reform bid, triggering a Moody’s downgrade for Chicago.

After that, the situation in Springfield worsened materially and before you knew it, the state was paying out lottery winnings in IOUs and missing hundreds of millions in pension payments.

The Illinois high court decision effectively set a precedent. “My reaction was, ‘Yeah, that’s going to play here,’ “ John D. McGinnis, a lawmaker in Pennsylvania, told The New York Times back in May. As the Times went on to note, Pennsylvania “has been diverting money from its pension system, setting the stage for a crisis as more and more public workers retire.”

“The judiciary in Pennsylvania has been solidly of the belief that there are ‘implicit contracts,’ and you can’t deviate from them,” McGinnis said. “If lawmakers in Harrisburg were to unilaterally cut pensions now, they could be taken to court and be dealt a stinging rebuke, like their counterparts in Illinois.”

I LIVE IN A STATE WITH AN ENTRENCHED CULTURE OF MALFEASANCE

The slimy lowlife politicians slithering around the halls of the State capital in Harrisburg wouldn’t know integrity if it fell on their fucking heads. Pennsylvania politicians and government bureaucrats are nothing by snakes screwing the citizens of the state by lining their pockets with bribes in the putrid cesspool of PA politics. They proved their integrity this week by screwing the people again. The ultra-liberal Democrat governor and the traitorous pussified Republican legislature “compromised” after 5 months of budget impasse to raise our sales tax by 21% to the second highest in the nation at 7.25%. Only the communist state of California has a higher rate at 7.5%.

Politicians never cut wasteful spending. They never cut a program. They never cut a subsidy. They just treat us like milking cows to be sucked dry. This massive increase in sales taxes hurts the middle class and poor far worse than the rich. But it gets the slimy politicians more money to waste on our horrific public schools and the pensions of the government drone teachers.

The last governor wanted to privatize the state owned liquor stores. It would have raised over $1 billion, but the union government drones blocked this perfectly good idea. Why get rid of an antiquated, bloated, inefficient, expensive, union controlled system, that keeps liquor prices 30% higher than nearby states, when you can raise taxes on the very same people who have to pay 30% too much for their booze?

Both parties suck. The politicians are scum. There is no integrity in government at all. That is why I will never vote again.

An entrenched culture of malfeasance

TIED FOR THIRD WORST

Damn. My beloved Pennsylvania is only projected to run a $2 billion deficit in the upcoming year. Only Alaska and Virginia politicians are doing a worse job than PA. politicians. And these are just projections. More than half the states in the country will run budget deficits in 2016. The new Democrat governor of PA. thought he was going to tax the living shit out of the fracking industry to balance his budget. Too late Tommy Boy. The frackers will be lucky to survive the next two years. There will be nothing left to tax. Of course plan B will be to tell the citizens of PA to bend over and take it up the ass again. He wants to increase our income tax rate by 21% and our sales tax rate by 10%. This is how politicians think. They never think to cut any spending. They never think to cut the gold plated pensions of government drones. Just increase taxes, fees and regulations on the little people.

This country is delusional, dysfunctional, dystopian, and in debt up to its eyeballs. We have supposedly had a growing economy for 6 years, the lowest unemployment rate in 8 years, 0% interest rates, and non-existent inflation (according to the BLS). If these states can’t balance their budgets under these “GREAT” economic conditions, just wait until the stock market implosion, soaring unemployment, and debt payments come due. You don’t have to be a doomer to understand the situation. You just need to understand math. Oh yeah. I forgot. I should have known better than to expect the iGadget addicted, math deficient, Kardashian watching, Twitter crowd to care, understand, or even pay attention.

OUR PROBLEM IS LOW SELF-ESTEEM, NOT A $2 BILLION BUDGET DEFICIT

Our problem is electing morons like Wolf to run the State. His master plan to revive PA was to tax the shit out of shale energy companies. Oops!!! That plan is DOA, as these companies will be going bankrupt over the next two years. He is a Democrat. Therefore, he will want to spend more of my money on useless shit. His new solution will be to tax the shit out of me and every other working Pennsylvanian so he can funnel money to his Democratic paradises of Philly and Pittsburgh. It’s for the children, don’t you know. That’s how you get re-elected in 2018. Low self esteem my fat ass. I have no esteem for idiots like Wolf and the rest of the bought off politicians in the bankrupt state capital of Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania’s problem? Low self-esteem, Wolf says

WASHINGTON – As he begins his tenure facing a $2 billion budget gap, struggling schools, and aging bridges and roads, Gov. Wolf said there’s another key area to improve: his state’s self-esteem.

“I think one of the responsibilities that leadership in Pennsylvania [has] to address head on – not only the structural issues in education, transportation, all those things, but also the psychological issues that keep us, hold us, back,” Wolf told other governors during a panel discussion of their states’ economic challenges. “So low self-esteem actually is a big problem.”

His comments came during a Saturday afternoon roundtable at a governors’ conference, and on Monday had Harrisburg buzzing. State Republicans poked fun at the Democratic governor, saying he should focus his attention elsewhere.

Wolf stood by his words Monday, though he didn’t use self-esteem. Instead, he cited an “excess of modesty.”

“The only people that really don’t believe that Pennsylvania should be the dominant state are Pennsylvanians,” Wolf said in an interview. “We have an excess of modesty, and in a lot of ways, modesty is a wonderful trait, but I think it keeps us from recognizing the amazing things that we are capable of, so I think we are an underachiever.”

At one point during Saturday’s panel at the National Governors Association conference, Wolf called self-esteem the state’s biggest economic problem.

When Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker chuckled and pointed to Pennsylvania’s highly touted universities, Wolf said he wasn’t aiming for a laugh. “We’re an underachiever,” Wolf said.

BEST POLITICAL AD I’VE SEEN

I’m a sarcastic son of a bitch, so I really appreciate some good sarcasm. This is the most sarcastic dead on political commercial you will ever see. Tom Corbett is the Republican governor of PA. He tried to fix the bankrupt government pension system and tried to sell off the state liquor stores during his first term. Therefore, he will not have a second term. If you do anything that will take away power, control and money from government unions, you are finished as a politician. Tom Wolf is a multi-millionaire tax and spend Democrat who will win the upcoming election in a landslide. He promises to tax the “rich”. Of course, his definition of rich is anyone making over $70,000 per year. And considering everyone pays sales tax, even people making $25,000 will be considered rich come January.

Tom Wolf will never attempt to fix the government pension system that will ultimately bankrupt every municipality in PA within the next ten years. He will just raise taxes on people whose real household income is lower than it was in 1999. Yeah. That’s the ticket. Do you sense my sarcasm?
