Likud Statement: Netanyahu Rules Out Two-State Solution
Faced with growing criticism from the far-right over a reported peace deal proposal, Israeli ruling party Likud issued a statement nationwide to synagogues in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out the two-state solution.

The statement prompted criticism from the Israeli left, leading Netanyahu to bizarrely deny that he’d ever made such comments as were attributed to him in the statement released by his own party.
Netanyahu is struggling, as usual, with his attempts to campaign on both sides of the fence, positioning himself, for the sake of far-right voters, as an ultrahawk with no designs on peace, and for the sake of centrist voters as a reasonable moderate.
Ultimately, these attempts alienate both sides, positioning himself as either a failed peacemaker or a failed warmaker, or some combination thereof.

A co-worker of mine is married to an Iranian woman who still works all over Asia and Oceania, including Iran, in her job. Some of the stuff he told me about his experiences visiting her and her family in Iran and getting to know the people will give second thoughts on what ii is really like there. Almost without exception they do not support the government and the govt is less powerful over (most) of the people than we (I) would have thought from more MSM sources. The terrible examples of harsh punishments in the news are real but not much different in actual effect (except for their targets) than what happens in the U.S. (see the numerous examples via police state USA web site that are posted here periodically). Iranians, as a people, as very cosmopolitan in outlook and aspirations and actually look up to the U.S.(not the govt) as a place they would like to be more friendly with and more like.

The greatest threat to IRI is the aspirations of it’s own people and the best way we could help them is to normalize relations. Trade with them. Iran is an important nation of almost 80 million people. Our economic separation from them damages us both.
